So go on...If you wanna try (without the pitch-tweaking part) then just play "Blade Runner Blues" by Vangelis by using youtube in another banner while playing "Catch The Beat"
1983 - Illusions, Epping, Essex, England. Under 16's - no alcohol but this is the tune that was played constantly there. It was a fantastic time to grow up. Used to line dance to it. Just lurve it so much. Been looking for it for ages
...riding home 2day this jawn comes on xm radio...i think i blew out my system....this ish was krazy bck in the day...and all day.....lol...LOVED IT!!...
That has been my signature track for 30 years, after I started playing it from the "Genius of rap" compilation. I then found the album in 1987. And finally, I bought the 12" this week (for $1.00). 1979 to 1982 were very good years for funk.
Yeah, so this is as good as music gets. This comes from someone who knows a lot about music. Funky fresh hip hop 4 life. Das bass be freaky 7 days a week.
I can remember this song echoing off the walls of Jamaica Ave, one of the songs you knew was gonna be playing and it was all day and throughout the summer... hes got more rhymes than the beach has sand enuff said still lovin it...
island records uk put out a 10 track full mix compliation in 1983'ish featuring this track and other raps ...in addition you got a 12" single in the packaging with the instrumental of this and a kind of dub cut of pull up to the bumper ...grace jones/sly and robbie ....GOOD TIMES
great tune, and it will never be forgotten, excepted of 99% of all those kiddys arround, thinking they know what is old school R&B like catch the beat B!atch...

Classic!!!! My friend Marc's mom would send him mixes from WBLS and WRKS when we were stationed at NAS Jacksonville, Fla. back in the 80's. This joint here had everyone in our dorm room groovin' for weeks. Great memories.

This was my b-girl name when I was in 7th grade. I originally had Sweet T, but someone bit it. so T-Ski became my name! Big ups to the bricks that was laid down when I was younger. Thanks to your dad's legacy!
This brings back amazing memories of going to an under 16s night at a club called Illusions in Epping, Essex. Had the best times there. Just loved this tune. The music was fantastic back then. Thx for posting and bringing back such happy memories.
T Ski along with Spoonie Gee and possibly Red Alert and putting together a little party at BAR 13 in manhattan on Oct 21st. Doors open at 9pm. 35 E. 13th st at University. Gonna be a blast.
@TyeTrillion your pops was the shitz,,, this is when rap music was our music..they made music because it touched us..and at the same time made alot of people wealthy...
Got your reply,Khaliamoon,The Bronx has ALWAYS had exceptional women, and I'm sure you're right up there. Sorry about the gender misrep. It's nice to know females are also up on their musical info
Its okay. Hey, I was a B-Girl out there doing my thing; chewing BubbleYum (it was new), one afro puff on the side of my head, Lee jeans, sweat shirt, and Pro Keds! I wasnt breakdancing but I was out there trying to act high post! I just knew my shit was fly! LOL! I used to sit out in the park watching Funky 4, Chuck Chillout and The Crash Crew while sitting on the swings talking to my girls about the B-Boys and how we'e were going to hook up and be one big crew. *sigh* Those were the days!
The brother below 'Khaliamoon' has it right. Guy's name was Brad Osborne, and the guy that played the bass was none other than Wayne Braithwaite, another fine West Indian gentleman who passed away too soon as well. After this recording,he went on the work with
Kashif,Kenny G (the G Force album) and Billy Ocean (Love Zone). look it up ,if ya don't believe me,although his name is spelled incorrectly on the label above.
Actually, the song is a variation of Heartbeat. How do I know? I know Tski personally. The music was played by a band lead by a Jamaican guy named Brad (r.i.p.). I, along with my brother was there when he practiced the song. He knows me very well.
Brad was killed soon after the song was released in a apartment building lobby. he owned "Brad's record Den" in the Bronx in the late 70's early 80's. I haven't seen Tski in about 15 years but I hear he's doing roadshows.
