GTV are really neat, last of the real alfas that make sense where everything is where you want it and roomy and not sterile like ferrari's and porsch's.
ok, you have a very nice car, but add a filter to the throttle bodies if you do not want to throw away the engine immediately. however there are good ;-) greetings from Italy
I hope thats not oil you squirted down the barrels :S. Also wouldn't of cleaned spark plugs with a wire brush, other than that gorgeous car gorgeous sound
@Pinin500 The oil glazes the bores and leaves deposits on the piston rings. I never put oil on the piston rings when I rebuild engines. Especially race or high performance engines. If the car has been standing for a long time, remove the plugs and turn the engine over until oil pressure is restored. The only time the bores need oil is if the engine has been sitting for years and won't turn over.
@22copes I seen the same thing, I also think like you, if the car was idle for a long time it takes the oil but the brush is not well especially close the holes, they can go inside the wire, but he is the owner :-)
I have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old DOHC Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs and tank clean and rustfree

Awesome video! She looks and sounds like she's got great pick up! And I saw that smile on your face. I get the same way after driving my 1967 Giulia Sprint GT Veloce! Btw, your's looks like a '73 or '74 GTV2000.
Those aren't carbs, RJ. They're merely air intake 'trumpets'. Filterless, I might add. The carbs are twin-throat Dell'ortos. AMHIK? My 67GTV has twin Webers.
@67GTV I know that they are the air trumpets. But still. Why chose these odd red ones, instead of the longer chrome ones. In my opinion the weber carbs look the best with those, and the most original. But i think it is a matter of opinion and taste. So i will leave it at this.
@RICKJAMES1254 Not sure if your issue is with the shape or the color. These "odd" trumpets are chosen for their looks, to allow clearance for a larger air filter assy or an old GTA style airbox.
@RICKJAMES1254 The longer, more trumpet-looking ones do look cool. They're used when clearance is not an issue or if you're not planning on using an airbox at all. In that case, you'd want to use filter socks, which thereby cover up most of the trumpet. Good quality trumpets should either be polished aluminum or stainless, not chrome. As for originality, air trumpets never came from the factory. My stock airbox bolts right up to my Webers.
BEAUTIFUL VEHICLE!! I plan to get one and restore it as a project with my grandfather, I want to paint it black also as I believe black makes any car look good. She has a beautiful voice also. We have to fight to keep these classics on the roads.

No four cylinder engine make the sonorous sound like an Alfa,
so much fun to drive not pretentios like a lambo or F car.
Id drive it around all day long just to hear that smooth engine.
eveything made sense in the GTV,
the shape of it, not to big or small,
but nice size for fun driving,
Had a 79 Sprint Coupe,
rust bucket, bad car,
74 GTV Is MUCH BETTER CAR OVERALL!!!!!!!!!

No other car iin ItALY HAS THAT SONOROUS sound like an Alfa 4 cylinder when it's starting to come on song about 3-500 , 4000, R's.
classic shifter, seating position, guage's on front of you,
Just like a person would want it,
wood & and metal steering wheel,
long throw shifter,
guage's right in front of you,
simple elegance.

Alfa's are neat car's,
as they are kind of on the exotic side,
but then have practicality too that you can live with,
I saw in the flesh a 33-TT-12, 312 PB's are nice, but the TT/12 is alot more powerful car,
Alfa should have a car like that now day's,
would be really nice.

@22copes ; Standing car, good idea to lightly oil bores and turn engine without plugs..
Fit plugs and heat will burn oil off...

ferraris might look good but an Allfa has a romance that other cars dont have,
sonuros sound you get addicted to the sound of that smooth ttwin cam 4 cylinder,
Ive been in BB, Dinos 308's and none of them had anyroom at all , all were spacey and strange, TR was wierd too,
Im getting one like your's guy,
Blue with the short intake stacks,

The Alfa is more comfy, less expensive and i think more fun to drive,
