  • I know this was in a disney movie... but which one!? I think it was a scary haunted house one. A character was running from something... It involved mickey and minnie mouse with a witch in a gingerbread house.

  • j'adore cette musique, mais il est tres long et je ne sais pas si notre orcheste de chambre a l'ecole nous permettrait de jouer.

  • our orchestra played this, but it was a little slower then, it was really fun to play though! I really like this music!

  • MasterAquaTerraVen- I've had the same vision in my head for 30 years-Micky and Minnie in a haunted house with a witch chasing them and this music in the background. The cartoon is very scratchy, but it scared me as a kid. Could this be a real Cartoon?....PouchFreeman

  • Does anybody know what orchestra played this version? When I follow the link to iTunes it says James Ehnes, is this his orchestra?

  • vidunderligt! Helt vidunderligt! Jeg elsker denne sang i mange år!

  • @TheScrubPker well you have listened to this to are you a homo too or just a keyboard warrior

  • My dance class is using this song. It's going to be of a boy and a girl dancing in a graveyard when zombies and ghosts and skeletens attack them. The human couple try to dance the way the zombies did to convince them that they aren't human. But they both die and come back as zombies. They dance and then after everyone else leaves, the newly zombified couple are in the exact same position they were in the beginning.

  • I adore this song it reminds me of Mickey and Minnie when they went to the witch house,,and when she tried to eat them ;D

  • This song is used in one of my personal favorite episodes of Buffy:) Called Hush, with the gentlemen who steals your voice and then comes for your heart:) Creepy but beautifull song:)

  • Efteling! Love this song perfect for the ride it is in! Spookslot.

  • love this version.

  • There's a theme park where this music plays in the haunted mansion. Pretty cool...

  • @Nexils that's the Efteling in the Netherlands!

  • @hannaaatje Yes it is.

  • @Nexils Do you mean the "Efteling" ?

  • @Romyandstuff Yes. That's it's name.

  • @Nexils -> Theme park "De Efteling" in the Netherlands... Cool attraction which is arround there for more than 30 years!

  • @Nexils Haha, yes, it's called "The Efteling.". They always have pretty nice sounds in the attraction, and I especially like this one! It makes it a little bit more scary.

  • @Nexils yeah 4 the efteling!

  • @Nexils iknow De Efteling ;p come there every year ;p

  • @Nexils Efteling FTW!

  • mMm, mm, mmM.

    I like it. x]

  • wow. Pissy bunch of pantie wearing snobs are The lot of you! I understand defending the reputation of a piece and blah... but really... -and that's all I have to say- Because I have a feeling if I went in any further, I would be shot down in many ways. XD

  • Well, HAYLIN57 or whatever your nick is, knowledge is there, your attitude towards it is what defines you as a person. All I sare is knowledge, if you don't care about it, well, that's another story. No offense, just speaking up my mind.

  • @hmoy24677 Well, sharing your knowledge would include, at least, explaining what do you think is so careless about this version. All you did was writing "I'm an expert because I teach on a junior high, and this is bad" (by the way, next time you may want to be more restrained when speaking about your job. Sounds like you're boasting more than you should).

Oh! And very brave of you! "Answering" my comment, but doing it so I wouldn't get your answer. Just a mistake, right? Don't worry, I fixed it!

  • @HAILYN57 Actually, I answered through my mobile, which didn´t let me answer you right at your comment. If you read carefully to the previous comments I made about this version you will know why I think this isn´t a decent one. Look for them, they wilI enlighten you!

I wonder, why do you defend it so much? Did you play in it? Did you conduct it? And FYI, I have taught in Universities as well, and conducted many choirs and a bunch of orchestras, plus compose a great deal of music.

  • @hmoy24677 Sorry for lying on my first comment, I'm NOT on the edge of my seat for every comment you do. We could have saved the "enlightenment" time if you had processed that. BTW please stop using the word "enlighten". It's annoying and sounds like you think your thoughts about music are the absolute truth. Because, you know, music isn't math. Math is an exact science, with facts. But, beyond names and rythm, music is opinion; maybe you don't need a marimba to make a skeleton dance.

  • @HAILYN57 Well, Saint Saens wrote that part for a marimba witha purpose, it wasn´t a suggestion, he intended it that way. When you perform orchestral music from another composer you have to respect what he/she wrote. Not doing it is making a wrong version of the music. In this case, there isn´t much speculation. And on a level I don´t expect you to understand, music IS an exact science.

  • @hmoy24677 Curious. You keep boasting your titles, and remark me "defending it so much" as you call it. I call it having an opinion different from yours, and asking you to shut up if you have nothing to support it. And, if being that the case, letting the point die after saying that once. Which makes me think about the first comment I found from you, repeating a point "already established". Maybe we should turn your question to you. Why do you keep repeating it?

  • @HAILYN57 One thing we do agree on is that I should have drop this before, there isn´t much point on disccussing such a topic with someone that doesn´t seem to have any knowledge of music whatsoever, and doesn´t seem to want to gain some. Thanks for making me realize this, you havee been of much help!

  • I guess this is what plays at balls for the undead.

  • this is my fav song! It makes me want to sneak out at midnight and just play this song in a graveyard, in hopes that skeletons will come and dance with me! Sends me in another world of my own everytime I listen to this song!

  • I love this song so much >.<

  • Our School Orchestra is playing this, well I say Orchestra, I mean, 6 people playing the right notes at the same time.

  • @RenaissanceOfMusic It's a good start, after all.

  • I cannot interupt it even on fourth consecutive playing... beyond lovely...

  • I'm actually in love with this...

  • Do you (or anyone) have any idea what orchestra performed this version?

  • i picture mickey and mini in a house where a witch is trying to eat them

  • I think this song is in the first Ice Age aswell:)

  • @Thomashed15 really? Where? =O

  • @hugothenerd When they are down in that cave with the ice sculptures:D

  • This is dark but lovely at the same time. I love it!

  • Sugoiii

  • @Fobicka100 Speak English you weeaboo fuck this is an excellent composition and you're fucking it up acting all Japanophile.

Seriously this had nothing to do with anime.

PS: IT TOOK YOU TWO TRIES TO SPELL "SUGOI"? Imbecile.

  • @47smithstreetseries yay someone who uses japanophile :D even tho its in an offensive way :P im pretty shure sugoi has nothing to do with anime besides that its japanese,ya know why am i replying ? watever

  • Sugiii

  • remember me TOMBSTONE the movie

  • Everytime i hear this song I have to and I do dance to it in my living room!!!

  • 36 people are waiting for the Lady GaGa cover.

  • stupenda

  • I like rock, pop, country, rap, and everything in this modern day which includes last century. But you can't ignore the genius in this.

  • Ha ha, I was still swaying with my eyes closed when I noticed it was finished! I don't know why, but this masterpiece just makes me want to dance some kind of ballet in my living room!

  • @1MsAwesome1 I know! That's what our dance is for our recital.

  • @1MsAwesome1 apparently, I was told that the song had something to do with the Devil making people dance.....like.....hypnotizing them? haha that comment creeped me out!

  • @The1GreatEscape Yeah, it does. The Devil wakes up the dead by playing violin and they dance till dawn. What I meant was that the music sways me, I feel like twirling around. I creeped you out? How?!

  • Comment removed

  • @1MsAwesome1 haha that's funny because my dance school does a halloween ballet every year and this is part of it :)

  • It's not the same without the marimbas.

  • @hmoy24677 get a grip

  • @TheEllelabelle You know very little about music. This is Program Music, a style describing a story, in this case, the superstition of human corpses coming back to life after midnight. The marimbas are to represent the sound of human bones clashing, if you removee it, the music doesn´t have the same effect.

  • @hmoy24677 I KNEW something was missing!

  • @lasaboteuse Of course! it makes a huge difference, when Saint Saens composed this he chose the marimbas because its sound reminded him of the clashing of human bones. It doesn´t have the same effect if you remove an instrument that is so significant to the whole purpose of the music. This is Program Music, a style that describes a story, in this case, the superstition of human corpses coming back to life at midnight, hence the twleve notes played by the harp at the very begining.

  • @hmoy24677 No, I know. He used xylophones in "Fossiles" for the same reason. I actually do listen for them...I just hadn't noticed they weren't present in the Angèle Dubeau version. One thing that also bothers me about this version is that the counter-melody drowns out the main one during the climax.

Program music? Isn't this a tone poem?

  • @lasaboteuse You are absollutely right, it is a tone poem. My mistake!

  • Yeah, it certainly isn´t a decent version.... I found it searching for different versions of it to show my Fine Arts class (I´m a secondary school music teacher and choir conductor) how different versions differ from each other, and was surprised to find such a careless one.

  • @hmoy24677 Yeah, it's a waste of a Stradivarius.

  • @hmoy24677 Dear hmoy24677, everybody here is really on the edge of their seats for your comments and opinions, an really sad that you didn't like the song presented on this video. Now, please SHUT THE FUCK UP! For real! Nobody cares if you're a teacher of my ass or whatever! If you don't like it, fine. Go to the next one. Comments aren't even for the music uploaders use, they're for what they actually DO.

  • @lasaboteuse Of course! When Saint Saens composed this he chose the marimbas because it´s sound reminded him of the sound of human bones clashing against each other, it doesn´t sound the same if you remove such a significat instrument for thos piece of music. Remember this is Program Music, a style that describes a story, in this case, the superstition of human corpses coming back to life at midnight, that is also why you can hear twelve notes played by the harp at the very begining.

  • @manasartha I need to learn this on my cello it is like an uber cello craving!!!! And yeah I listen to all dirlfferent genre of music but classical is beautiful

  • theres a song on dynasty warriors 5 called dance macabre, BLASPHEMY!

  • We played this song as a drum break for marching band. It's amazing. <3

  • This is my favorite song!

  • Classical msuic is....wow.

  • I love rap, and rock and stuff but you can't ignore the ingeniousity of classical music.

Oh yes this song is wrong! Saint-saens never used a perfectly tuned violin, this song has to imbue death! That's why his violin was just a little less tightened to create a more raw, cutting sound, sending chills down your spine!

(Wow musical education in schools does work! XD )

  • AMAZING piece!!!! im playing at the moment on the cello :)

  • This is like wicked! lol
