Its sad how drugs got them in the end... In the beggining they were so happy... Anyone who has seen the movie should do it again and again... There are many things you havent seen the first time... Best movie of all time in my opinion.
Despite what this movie is about, and the bad parts of it, their are still good scenes like this. Such a beautiful scene. I haven't seen it, but I've been told from people who have that it's amazing.
anyway, this guy is really perfect... He sings perfectly he plays guitar he's the best actor ever, he is 40 (28 in requiem for a dream) but he looks 20 all the time, he doesn't eat meat he cares about everyone he doesn't smoke ... A perfect person... I lov you jared, really !

this scene is so beautiful, so sincere, and shot so beautifully and interestingly!
I love love love Darren Aronofsky.
And I always really liked Jared Leto's character Harry Goldfarb. Despite the whole drug addiction, he tried to be a good son and a good boyfriend, and essentially a good person, if only he wasn't a drug addict, it just brought him down. It brought them all down.
@shaun3701 What you see is what they see/feel through their consciousness. They're looking in each other's eyes, but still register the touch of each other.
one of the best things to do if you love this movie is to watch this clip, and the straight away afterwards watch the phone-call clip from near the end
With their theme tune playing, and the contrast between the two shows how their lives have been destroyed and their relationship completely different is one of the most powerful things in the film. Sums up what it is all about.
I love how Darren Aronofski uses a Split Screen here. In some way there are really close together and at the same time apart. Kinda reflects their relationship throughout the movie.
It's really sad. This movie changed the way I looked at the world.
you know its weird cuz I have this dream of a boy/man whos always there with me like some how he and I are attched/bound together or something. hes my angle. when I was lil he would stand at the end of my bed and watched over me while I sleep. he was REAL! I KNOW HE WAS! I miss him! like the wind brushing against my skin I feel him and I LOVE HIM!! a dream I hardly never speek of. so real it is like lieing in bed eyes closed talking with your best friend as you trace the outline of there body!!!
When she says "From them it was just... Meaningless." She meant she didn't feel anything when the other people said it. From him, she can actually feel the love that he says it with. Like an essence almost, or a sixth sense. It's a really euphoric feeling, to be loved like that, so she was essentially trying to reciprocate his feelings with "I really hear you when you say you love me because I love you too."
Also, this film is beautifully done and I love it.
i totally loved that movie. it's not the usual hollywood crap, not the usual sentences, not the usual filming. i totally believed the whole story because of the great actors. as well i think harry and her have a very special chemistry. totally love the scene, totally adore the movie <3
I remember something so similar to this. We were both high on Oxycontin and we were on a shitty mattress in a house with no heat, in January, in the Smokey mountains. Cockroaches every where. We were in love and just getting into our raging addiction - before the fun went out of doing drugs. This scene makes me smile, because even though we're now broken up because of drugs and both hooked, hopelessly, on drugs, it reminds me of a simpler time.
@MrKINGofRING nothing we havent learned from real life already. trust me if youre addicted to heroin a movie isnt gonna snap you out of it, not even requiem for a dream.
can anyone tell me when in the movie this scene is? i need to identity the minutes in an essay, and i cant find it anywhere... i dont have the movie either so i cant check it...
i didn't like this movie. what was the message? was it showing the dangers of drug addiction? If the message is "don't do drugs" then i am very disappointed with this movie. I just wasted a couple hours watching a super depressing movie. Before i started i wasn't thinking of becoming addicted to heroin. Nothing has changed for me... except now i'm depressed. that was NOT fun.
that's what it really feels like. it's too bad that they let the addiction get the better of them, because that's what it really feels like. it's so beautiful and floaty. and you do "really hear it".
Some people say the movie is about drugs, that isn't what the film is about, it's what it is based around. There is an immense difference. Drugs are used in this film to shed light on the characters as they lose touch with their dreams. The mother's drive to wear the dress is lost because of the steps she takes to get there, Marian's design ideas are pushed aside for her addiction...Beautiful film in it's stark contrast of Goals and various means to achieve them...How soon we lose touch...
@MeanGreenHatch uh...yeah? We're not talking about two separate things. Drugs are the reason they lose their dreams to begin with. It's about both the lure of addiction and the crash an addictive person suffers as that high increasingly wears away.
whenever I see this scene I get this feeling like it belongs in a version of Romeo and Juliet. The red bed, the profiles, the split screen its all just so beautiful and brilliant. For me it was the first scene that made me realize how truly in love the two were, and then watching the movie the second time around and third and fourth and etc this scene became the saddest one out of the whole movie because you know how these two will end up and its a depressing "I know something you don't feeling)
it is incredible why the drug made him do that. the drug has such a vast mastery and command them more and more until they are blind and cannot see anymore what grand thing they are loosing. it is love -in the book you can read how the drug can overhelm his bad conscience. they had found love -everything could have worked perfect if there weren t this horror drug...to watch this makes fragile
I worked as a volunteer drug councilor for several years, after being a drug addict myself. You actually wouldn't believe how many people like these are out there. At the end of this movie, there is a scene when they all crawl in the fetal position as if waiting to be reborn. This is a common thing among drug addicts, because they end up believing that it was not their drug addiction that led them to this desperation, but rather their whole existence.
sorry but some of us have never seen it so that is the first thing we notice. i am clueless as to what's going on in this vid... so i comment on his beauty.
@TimTehDrummer i agree in a splitscreen moment if used right can make or break a movie they used this well in this scene tho a bit distracting from the characters and wat they were saying almost as if it were porn a lil bit (reason y it was banned in some places?) anyways ya it's rlly good scene good refren
Its sad how drugs got them in the end... In the beggining they were so happy... Anyone who has seen the movie should do it again and again... There are many things you havent seen the first time... Best movie of all time in my opinion.
