@JasminePinder All i can say is DONT WORREY. you will be unwell for a while because u were not absorbing fat, not on treatment, and i would think a bit depresed. what will hapen is you will have a cource of IV's untill you are well then you will have the op whitch will REALY HELP you ! and then you will be on the road to recovery. I have CF and i know alot bout it so if you have ANY questions ask me. Hope ur ok now.
I was undiagnosed till about 2 years ago. My doctor figured out that I had CF when I had pneumonia and a collapsed lung in the same year I'm 18 now and believe it or not, I'm getting sicker. I'm taking all my meds everyday, but it seems to be not working. Why? My doctor said that if this keeps up I'm going to need a double lung transplant, but he doesnt know if I'll survive the surgery. I'm worried and just want to know what some of the causes to me getting sicker and sicker are. Message me plz
Hello Jasmine, let me firstly say everyone with CF have varying degrees of the illness, some r rarely hospitalised and live til their 60's+ whilst others die very young and at birth! I have CF, im 27 now, was diagnosed when i was 2 so you can say im well versed and familiar with CF. Ive been in and out of hospital roughly 4 times a yr for 2 wks at a time all my life, my health is slowly getting worse and im now on the transplant list waiting for new set of lungs.......(continued in new comments
Medication is a key factor for obvious reasons and im on alot of it including nebulisers and inhalors but i think the true way til keep as healthy as possible with this is to do physio regularly til keep the sputum load shifted and cleared, plus eating well and trying to keep ur weight up is vital as well. R u Diabetic by any chance cos i am and i find that insulin is a good way to breakdown the sugars and increase my weight and maintain it at a healthy level. Do u exercise........
......exercise? I dont do much exercise but it can be a good way to keep the chest clear of sputum and such keep infections to a minimum! Try to keep a positive attitude and outlook on life as this can help in minor ways as well! At the end of the day medication can only help so much, genetics r what they r and in some cases deterioration of the lungs will b inevitable no matter what u do! U prob appear til b getting worse 4 this reason, its the case with me and many others......
many others. Some CF patients live normal fulfilling lives whilst others dont, its the nature of things, unfortunate and sad but a harsh fact. My sister had CF, she died 4 yrs ago at age 15, i have a video commemorating her on YouTube. I knew quite alot of CFers from hospital whom i hav outlived but i also know quite a few in their 40's & 50's who arent too bad with it! Lung transplantation may be required 4 u in the future, ur doctor may just b saying that 2 get u used to the idea......
idea but whichever the case may b my advice to u is stay positive, dont worry too much at this point not at least until ur health really deteriorates. There r loads of medication 4 CF and loads work really well so keep at it and hopefully a cure will b found 4 us all soon! Can i ask, R u Britsh? If so, then like me u r fortunate to receive free and all the healthcare u need! Hope this helped and do physio regularly, its the key factor i find as well as eating regularly andtaking meds. Good luck!
