  • Just a tip for the splash potions, (if you didn't know this already) if you have any undead mob the potion of harming will heal them, and potion of healing will damage them.

  • Splash potions don't seem to work on SMP, really disappointed when I had to kill 400 zombies by hand after wasting 3 instant damamge splash potions...

  • @E1p0tat0k1ng slash potions do work on servers! You said you used instant damage on the zombies right? Well instant damage doesn't harm undead (zombies & skeletons) you need to use instant health! :P I hope this helps and if you dont believe me you can check on the Wiki! :D

  • @E1p0tat0k1ng Lol, instant damage makes zombies and skeletons regenerate health. For zombies and skeles you have to use health regen potion to kill the zombies. You use Instant damage(harming) for spiders, not sure if it works for blaze.

  • @robot797 rly not that hard to build it yourself. in the time you download it and copied to your world, you could ahve already build it yourself.

    it takes 2 min to download 500MB if the site is fast enough

    1 min to look and learn 3 min to copy

  • @robot797 Dont know which one you want to copy, but if you just want the best (the last), than it take maybe 2min to build it, in case you have the resources.

  • At 3:21 i was thinking " I didn't know you could hit them with there egg and make them disapear." And at 3:26 I was thinking " Why is the slime hopping at him? Thats really weird."

    And at 3:28 I was thinking "Why the hell are the sheep and the wolf attacking each other while running backwards." And at 3:39 when the egg materialized out of nowhere and flew at him and I was like "Oh."

  • Won't mobs that jump off the pads still take damage at the 3-block-high pads? You could place blocks to prevent them from falling into the streams by jumping, but maybe it would be better to drop them from the 5-6 block range.

  • @savagelung yeah basically there are just a few heights you might want to avoid. yes it all depends on the specific setup, like my pads use 2 high gaps so no jumping. mobs will also fall on each other so no point trying to make it 100%.

  • I found out a way to make a 100% efficient mob trap, so you don't lose any slimes. I'm gonna work on a video on it soon, if I do it, I'll send you a message :)

  • One problem with your XP farm design is that you will need to seperate skellys and zombies from the rest as instant damage heals them I believe.

  • @red3yz I see. Maybe I'll do some testing, with the new mob eggs it makes mob testing so much easier.

  • But if you're going for small slimes only, it still beats a double cave spider spawner....

    10 minutes in both yields a score of 518 (15.9) for slimes and 470 (15.1) for spiders. The slimes can do a lot better with improved drowners such as your designs or a drop down drowner version of the one robo made.

    The slime farm used in this test had 3 16x16 spawning floors so a total of 768 spawning squares.

  • @Gluutey i have a quad spider spawner as part of the same xp system :) and some traps too :) still havn't turned it on.

  • If you're going to use slimes for exp I would suggest to kill all 3 sizes....if you're only using small ones you will quickly fill up the mob cap and they will stop spawning.

    I would also suggest to have the spawning pads high and the killing area low....gathering them and transporting them up takes longer then dropping them down and gathering them.

    Slime farm at max spawn gives you lvl 50 exp within 20 minutes if you kill all sizes. Costs 60-100 instant dmg II potions, or 20 + diamond sword

  • @Gluutey i realise im missing out on xp, but this is for a speed based system, so i only want to be there for a couple minutes, and use 1 potion only. also i thought split slimes did not contribute to the mob cap, so splitting them may be beneficial to increase spawn rates. speed or efficiency i guess. thanks for the info you seem to know your stuff :)

  • I've recently been doing some slime experimentation In hopes to setup a xp farm for them in my world, I wanted to have all 3 sizes of slimes in one area and to be able to 1 hit kill them, Then from there the Larges go to the medium tanks, Mediums to the small. This would involve three different holding cells and would be a lot more complicated then using just smalls, But you would get a lot more experience from doing a system like that.

  • @drakfiskaren tried it, seems about the same. the soul-sand is actually there because it is shorter than other blocks, not becasue of its slowing ability, but thanks for the tip :D

  • problem with last small slime splitter! fence gates close if there's no redstone current going to it so just try and add a torch somewhere to both of them because then you can add a lever in your lp to turn it off and on that would be sick!!!

  • Red3yz, you might have a lot of slimes in the slime farm if you use eggs in your Lp.

  • Very interesting testing:) Always appreciate these kinda tests. About that weird behaving fence gate, I think it got updated by particles from the lava. Since they are now controll-able with redstone, you must power them (I assume) to keep them in the open state. Just like when putting a block or particle next to a un-updated piston!

  • If that spider transport really works in survival while being tracked, I like it =) a lot more elegant and simple than the mess of water streams usually needed to move and join spiders

  • @Random2251 yup i wsa pleasantly surprised :) and i found the trick in my survival world, so it does work. but like i said 1 can get stuck, but i think that is the same with the other design. this setup also seems to work with wolves.

  • Check out @GenerikB for his slime drowner. It's 100% effective and doesn't require moving pistons.

  • @MrJuddernaught just after the piston crushers there were fast lava slime size reducers. i was just showing the progression of the design. the pistons are junk i agree, but lava is awesome :) and yeah check out generikb's thing too, why not :D

  • The fall damage test is so interesting, but when used in a mob spawner some mobs may land ontop of one another and take collision damage, Aswell as this you need to do your cavespider test in survival because the spiders arn't tracking you.

  • @xisumavoid yeah it's wierd, and yes there will always be collisions. and yeah ishould have shown the spiders in survival, but it works fine, tracking in all directions, well for me at least although it might depend on the direction of the canal itself. nice slime reducers eh ;) thanks dude

  • @Shroomer83 as long as mobs spawn, mob harvesting will be possible. The distances and transport systems might need changing, or the sign/fencegate trick might stop working and reduce output, but the idea will still work :)
