I had them a lot when I was a teenager. I developed a movement of my throat (like if you wanted to get something up again immediately after swallowing) which would get them out of these little holes. It was a big problem, but because of my technique, I managed to keep them away, and not have the bad breath asociated with them. After 5 years of this, it stopped automatically, I haven't had one for 10 years. I never had a clear idea where they were stuck, so rather cool to see this video.

Contrary to popular believe, REMOVING YOUR TONSILS DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE RID OF TONSIL STONES, unfortunately, as some of these photos/videos have shown. It also does not mean you have poor oral hygiene either.

And to the commenter below, it does seem that smoking does intensify these in the way that bacteria builds up in your mouth easier, but it does not cause them and if you quit will not make them go away.
