Even within the religion of the Greeks there was evidence of their tolerance and acceptance of homosexuality in that some of their deities had homosexual relations/encounters with other deities of the same-sex. The Greeks, really? Even within the religion of the Greeks there was evidence of their tolerance and acceptance of homosexuality in that some of their deities had homosexual relations/encounters with other deities of the same-sex. The Greek culture at that time was more than just tolerant of bisexuality and homosexuality, but were accepting of it to the extent that adult males could have young male boys as intimate company or "catamites." My concept of logic is that both have to do with civil rights. Both have to do with one type of person being discriminated against because they are different. They've always had children; it's just that since the 1970s they can have them *openly* and they can protect their families (at least in some states) with non-discriminatory marriage and adoption laws. Milk, the issue is discriminatory laws that negatively affect same-sex couples and their children. These laws hurt gay people and they hurt kids. Why are you persecuting people who aren't bothering anyone else? Why don't you spend your time and energy on issues where people are actually suffering? Why don't you focus on hunger or poverty or child abuse or something?

as a male, i can marry any woman i want, and no man. this same right is extended to all american males.
gay marriage DOES bother those of us trying to raise normal, natural families because we do not want to see this immoral lifestyle legitimized in our society, in the same way we don't want to legitimize promiscuous lifestyles or see porno shops and strip clubs on every corner.
and 2 dudes and a kid or 2 gals and a kid is not a family, sorry.

Milk, discriminatory laws hurt gay couples and their children. That's why we need marriage equality in America. If one parent can't adopt his or her nonbiological child, or if one partner can't marry the other partner, the people are not given the same legal benefits and protections as straight couples. That's not fair. And I'm sorry you don't like my family, but my family is a real family and we are legitimate whether you like it or not. You can't erase us. We exist and we deserve equality.

but the danger inherent is as soon as you grant gay marriage, then groups of MULTIPLE people who wish to be married to one another (3 men and 4 women, for example) will crawl out of the woodwork demanding equality. this is (hopefully) obviously absurd, but who are we to discriminate? don't 12 men and 15 women who wish to enter into a single marriage, 'deserve equality?'
with gay marriage comes making the definition of marriage obsolete, which is really what is afoot here, and i don't like it.

Milk, that's ridiculous. There is gay marriage in several other countries already (20 years in Denmark) and polygamy is not legal there. And polygamy *is* legal in parts of the Middle East and Africa, which are notoriously homophobic countries in which gay people are often put to death. The two have nothing to do with each other.

Milk, you're free to have an opinion and teach your kids whatever you want. But I do not think you have the right to use those views to enact discriminatory laws. My family shouldn't have to move to Denmark to get equal treatment under the law. As for feeling sorry for me, please save your pity for all the poor children in this world who are *actually* being disadvantaged by poverty, hunger, neglect, abuse, etc.

You can see in this video the prop 8 opponents taunting the supporters, and if you look carefully, can even see them shoving the supporters trying to provoke a response.
Compare that to the shoving and spitting on the Christians that marched in in San Francisco who needed police protection.
Although the purpose of this is to try to show the supporters in a bad light, careful examination of the tape shows who the TRUE thugs are - it is the the gay-rights supporters.
