for example if he is using soft armor (used mainly by cops to stand pistol rounds from .22 to 44mag) and you use 00buckshot i think it might penetrate if you use a 1 ounce slug it will surely penetrate if you are using birdshot forget about it

if he is using good steel plates forget about it i ve seen steel plates that can take a hit from a .338 lapua magnum the drawback is that they weight alot

But even without body armor someone can survive a shotgun: When my uncles were young, they went hunting. When one of my uncles had an accidental discharge, he shot his brother from far away, but he only ended up with welts from the Buckshot. The End

@zerghalo2 Yes, it's possible. It doesn't have to penetrate to kill you either. If it hits you on the heart for example, the vibrations from the impact of the bullet will stop your heart. Other than that, soldiers use more than just a little Kevlar, they use 33 pounds of it. Personally, I think none of that will matter in a decade or two when we have the non-Newtonian Liquid Body Armor. It makes you invincible to everything, and it's not from a comic book

Half Life 2's SMG is an MP7A1 with a 45 round magazine and a 20mm grenade launcher. MP7 came out in 2001 and was redesigned in 2003, Half Life 2 came out in 2004.

The mp7 is a nice little gun, easy to control, and with excellant body armor penetration. However, its problems are many. It requires a non standardised round that nato doesn't use, low stoping power against flesh and blood targets, and poor hard barrier penetration. We would be better off with the old m4 carbine, since its armor penetration is almost as good, its stopping power is better, and it uses a standardised round everyone already uses.

Plus its somewhat cheaper, and uses a standardised round, unlike the mp7, which works out to more availability and less expense. The reason he didn't is because the mp7a1 can only penetrate light body armour. It penetrates (better than the p90). The mp5 can't go through the kevlar helmet unless you shoot like 5 rounds in the same place.

the SMG is based off of this gun. and if you notice, there are some differences between this one and the one in Half Life. for one, the MP7A1 is real :P. 2nd, the Half Life version carries 45 rounds (MP7 carries 20 or 40 rounds) and also has a grenade launcher. of course the MP7A1 is far too small for that.
