  • At that time the diameter was 3.6 meters. Next time they decided to make it 6 meters.

  • I was wondering about the diameter of the fighting area. I dig.

  • 0:24 = awesome :)

  • Finally - some real push hands on display.Too many BS clips on Youtube of people being bounced about with no force used or borrowed. White is so outclassed here by Yellow. A match of more equal skill would have been good to see.

  • @macnwhizz damn right

  • @macnwhizz Just like the poster said, It looks beautiful only if one person is good, one low level. Otherwise it will look awful.

  • Cool Video..........

  • I think the guy mentioning Judo though has a point. Even without grabbing, judoka have very strong root when they want to and are equally good at kuzushi, up rooting the opponent. Would be an interesting match even if played by Yiquan rules.

  • Its pretty one sided actually. Nice softness with fast take downs!

  • Deep respect to all people devoted to any kind of martial art (or body art).- Except those MMA guys ;-) It´s a little bit strange yet interesting to see this kind of tui shou competition in a ring like it´s wrestling or something. But hey - why not?

  • Nice open mind. At least those MMA guys have a basis in fact for believing in the efficacy of their techniques.

  • if you don't respect the MMA guys, this means you don't respect, jiu jitsu - muay thai - boxing - greco roman wrestling - judo - karate - taekwondo - san shou . bravo

  • @CareMachine42 MMA is the ultimate martial art. Just because it is in it's infancy doesn't mean that it's potential isn't great. There are many MMA practioners that practice Tai-Chi and Qui Gong. If you could just imagine a martial artist that is well balanced in all the major disciplines than you would understand the true goal of MMA.

  • How does it happen that so many people are so stupid? This is not judo, and judoka would not gain any points, because would try to grab (including grabbing clothes), while you don't grab clothes here, and grabbing hand is allowed only for a split of second - the main idea is use contact only/mostly and not grabbing and grappling.

  • And this is, because yiquan is not grappling, and tui shou is not a goal in itself, but only a part of training/system, part which allows working in easier conditions on some elements which are part of free figthing, when you hit with fists, elbows, knees, legs, shoulders, head and hips at the same unbalancing opponent when split of second contact appears in result of hitting actions.

  • But to be able to develop this kind of free fighting skill you need to work in easier conditions, when you can concentrate on the aspect of feeling opponent's center and unbalancing him by contact only. People, you should learn more, try to understand the whole training system and meaning of specific part in context of the whole, and not just post stupid posts.

  • lol you sure do attract people who like to criticize the kung fu you upload.. Again what I see is different from others.. and they from me.. but what I see is 2 people doing some form of push hands or another.. at a bit fast of a pace.. many people come to do push hands with me.. some are fast.. some are softer.. some are more external.. As I learn from every time.. I am a disciple of ALL of them.. Even dacheng video footage :)

  • what a joke, any good judoka would slamm these fools into a coma.

  • these are lower skill leveled Yiquan ... too much wrestling watch the others like the Yao brothers or master Han

  • You better think about difference between demonstration and more competitive enviroment, difference between situation when one of opponents is much better than the other and when their skill is closer to each other. Also difference between situation more free during training, and this competition, where diameter of the cirlce was only 3 meters. First study martial art seriously, get some real understanding, before you start talking in public.

  • Theoretically, any of these "pure internal" guys who never use physical force for anything should be able to clean up in these competitions... but where are they? ;)

  • If you don't have a compliant partner, or you're not going up against someone with really inferior skill level, it's going to look kind of ugly most of the time. I didn't think it was too bad at all. There were some instances of just outright shoving, but I also saw a couple nice exchanges where the winner's opponent was off balanced fairly effortlessly.

  • Great masters meet, and if they really try to win, they look the same. It looks beautiful only if one person is good, one low level. Otherwise it will look awful. Just come back to Earth those who believe in miracles :-)

  • @dacheng i'm not sure about that

  • From my experience, those who talk a lot about "ideal internal" in reality, when opponent's skill is similiar, either are forced to use brute force themselves or are just being defeated, because their "internal" skill is not adequate against similiar level opponent in win/lose situation.

  • Looks awful, there's no trace of internal martial art here. The guys use 100% physical force... This is a perfect example to turn people away from any internal style and also a perfect example of how NOT to practice Yiquan. The funny thing is that I can now efficiently apply Taijiquan in Kyokushin Karate full contact sparring! Any internal martial art is unbelievably efficient in combat, only needs to be taught by the right person.

  • You trained yiquan san shou? Did you get to the level of studying how tui shou is related to san shou?

  • I stopped practicing Yiquan after seeing a competition like this - on the 100th anniversary of Wang Xiangzhai - and started looking into "useful" methods fo combat. My realization was this: Yiquan is useless for anything apart from health improvement through exercise, and even then it is less effective than swimming, running, or skipping.
