you know, the only flaw with this, is what if you stored data on the flash drive inside the mouse, and you wanted to use it somewhere else, but you were on someone else's computer, and didn't want to actually use the mouse OR the wireless device? having the wireless device could cause interference if the computer already had a wireless device installed and is using it. plus it'd be a hassle to copy the data to the computer, then back again once done using it.
that is so smart. Do you have a instruction video. But I'm thinking does a usb 2.0 have the power for wireless and mouse on one cord? I did not know that I'm also thinking your not using a wireless N for that takes more power
@Excelsiorhypermedia - it is an 802.11g card, so you're right, it's not an 802.11n.
If I plug it in to a USB port on a computer, then it works just fine. If I plug it in to a USB hub, there doesn't seem to be enough power for two hubs, the mouse and the wireless.
@rugelindinda Yes, I bet you're right. I don't really use this mouse as a mouse lately because of this concern. Granted, if I swap out the wireless nic for something else, then it's more likely completely inert
its sad how many people dont understand what this mouse does. it connects his computer to the INTERNET wirelessly, while still being a mouse, and only using one usb port. Very cool mod :p
@urvidsuks@urvidsuks That's a "compiz" effect that can be easily enabled for users of Ubuntu Linux. You can freely (and legally) download and install Ubuntu on to your computer from their website (just google "Ubuntu")
Be careful however, if you don't really pay attention to what you're doing, you might delete all your files - but you can also run Ubuntu without actually installing it.
T_T i cant do this!!! my mouse is too small... and i already cemented it shut after my cable replacement hax... damn portable mice cords get destroyed easily...
Dude that is an awsome idea! I have tried plugging in a usb hub into a 2.0 usb port and i get a window saying this is no longer a 2.0 but back to a 1.1 version. Do u get that error message from the project u built?
It doesn't make it a wireless mouse. It just conceals an 802.11 usb wireless network card inside of the mouse. So a computer using this mouse gains wireless networking features THROUGH the mouse. Make sense?
Ahh, very cool.. Good for you! The more you keep trying to understand the easier it'll get. It's a very very slow process, but if you keep trying, you will eventually get it!
:) ty, i do somtimes take stuff apart, do stuff with them, and my mother shits herself lol, like i ixed mytery chaer esterda, myyyyyymother didn't want me to but i did lol, it works nowb :)
who cares about the mouse getting warm. u succeeded in what u wanted to do. all u have to do now is to show this idea to a big company and ask for big money in exchange :D
a little nerdy but that is genius, u should add another memory stick and that mouse so u could back up mass volumes of data to ur mouse, damn why havn't computer companies caught on to this kind of thing
Like I said at the start, I was having a problem with Linux support for the wireless NIC in my laptop. I found a good USB one, but I hated all the cables I needed to make it all work. So I consolidated all that crap inside of the casing for the mouse I'd be using regardless. Make sense now?
Just opened up my MX-510 and noticed it has quite some empty space inside. Wouldn't mind tossing in bluetooth and a sacrificing a couple GB on a memory stick :)
iv worked with that particular usb hub a few times (clear housing with silver painted on the inside and a little recessed area on the back for the usb cable) mainly sticking them in NES controllers with a flash drive and a keyboard hooked up to the buttons. anyways back on track i just want to say that you can trim off the 2 ports that kinda hang off the side and solder directly to the IC legs, making it much smaller
Nice suggestion, I had considered chopping off that part of the board, but I didn't consider pulling those pins out still by finding the pins of the controller. Good idea. I ordered 3 more of these hubs for this sort of thing.. lol

@urvidsuks It's something that one can do in Linux. Not sure how you'd get that to work in Windows or OSX.

@UnBobleavable lol, maybe watch the video again.
I made something unique in functionality. You can't buy this device in a store, at least, not yet.
Besides, I hate the kind of wireless device you're referring to as then I have to manage batteries.
jamessnell 1 year ago
@UnBobleavable its not a wireless mouse... it is freeing up usb hubs...

No, I don't get that error because my hub is a USB 2.0 hub. Yours sounds like it's a USB 1.1.
DocDawning 2 years ago
No it is 2.0. No biggy. Just wanted to know if you got that errror message. Thanks!

Isntead of shooting ur ugly unshaved face, better spent this time showing ur mouse (and more inside)!
ayex86 2 years ago
That's a rude thing to say.
Here's a valuable tip: If you want people to consider your suggestions, it helps not to insult them.
I certainly don't feel motivated to make another video with more details on account of your comment.
DocDawning 2 years ago
ok, so that isn't realy WIRELESS, there's still 1 wire, how many were there at start?

DocDawning 2 years ago
oh, i think i get you lol...
so... e.g. using the mouse to pick up wireless internet?
is that what u mean?
BOS6940 2 years ago
Yeah, now you get it.
Personally, I hate wireless peripherals because they need batteries.. So yeah, this is cool.
All that happened in the case of this video was a bunch of stuff was consolidated.
DocDawning 2 years ago
omg i understood!
:D
i'm impressed that i understood bcoz i'm 11 and i don't realy understand stuff like this...

He takes a normal USB mouse that originally used a cord.
He puts the circuit board of a USB hub inside the mouse case.
He attaches a bunch of things to the USB hub (Wi-Fi adapter, usb stick....etc.) so that id doesn't waste space.
