To: Boris & Cosmo ~ I am soo happy I found this...have thought of you both over the years, best wishes and....you should read/hear me now! : ) I'm on Face Book...
I actually appeared on "Dance Fever" of which this was theme song. Not my fav tune...but...not bad. I'm sure young people thinks this sucks, but it takes me back to better days..ya know?
you got some great songs on here.. i have been djing since 1975..and these sure bring back a LOT of old djing memories in the clubs i used to go to and dj at!!!!!!!!!!
The milky way lounge, central ave yonkers was one of the true all glass walled glitter discos with a sound system that would shake your internal organs & the fall of 78 this was the song driving there included.
First heard this at the clothing store Fiorucci in NYC in fall '78 during the Studio 54 era - they were selling glitzy cowboy belts (the disco cowboy look), shirts with tiny button down collars, tight straight leg jeans (expensive!!) - clothing that did not look at ALL like the polyester stuff worn in Saturday Night Fever (when my friends & I saw SNF when it came out in late '77 we thought the clothes were a joke and the dancing too show-offy - did anyone else think that???).
@radamik Exactly, I know what you mean... and I hate how they made SNF the Star of the Disco Era... I think that's what ruined the whole scene. Also... we did not dance like they did on SNF... lol
I was a student at St. John's University and every saturday before we went out we would watch Dance Fever and this was the introduction song and then we would hear it in Infinity,Elephus, The Enchanted Garden and NY NY anyone remember these great clubs?
That opening at :06 was certainly memorable. This was one of my favorites. The TV dance contest "Dance Fever" used it also as their theme song. There were many disco haters out there but those who really appreciate music can tell Midney really knew his stuff and songs like this certainly had classical roots. Unlike conveyor-belt music churned out during those days, Midney took a lot of care and effort into creating great sounding music with his unique style.
Luv this song!!!! Memories!!!

Funny you should mention "Dance Fever" because that was the only reason why I ever watched that show, just to hear this song.
