  • novation impulse 49 or akai mpk49 ?

  • @MiXbOy54321 akai all da way

  • does this work with fruity loops ??? pls answer

  • can i use this with Fruity loops ?

  • how many songs would i be able to record from this keyboard? plzz i need to know??

  • i have one question how do you make "tap tempo" to blink again i remeber doing somethin that made it stop but now i want to make it blink again how do i do it??

  • This is one excellent controller. I use an Axiom 61 in tandem with MPK49 as a secondary control surface.

  • can you play it without using the laptop or any computer?

  • @stojko00 Not really, unless you have some external soundbank rack to plug it into. It is a MIDI controller meaning it doesn't generate its own sounds. For that you'd need a synthesizer. It is a sick keyboard though, got mine a couple weeks ago. It has tons and tons of potential to unlock.

  • can you play it without using the laptop or any computer

  • Do u hav to be pro to play it or fir fun?

  • I'm a noob at midi controllers, but if i fill the banks with a standard piano and trumpet and drums for the pads can I modulate those with the switches to achieve any sound so can i take standard trumpet and piano sounds modulate them to make like alien sounds or the low bass sound of inks inks inks inks hope someone understand my dumb logic. Thanks

  • 55 people love Contractor

  • that sales rep sucked! get hip young aspiring producers who actually use this entry level midi controler to rep it at ur shows!

  • Alright so i just bought this key board and it came with the driver and ableton live 8, will i be able to DL both of these things more than once?

  • CONTRACTOR?? loool

  • @amiroteil No sh|t, and this guy is a "professional"? It's SubTractor... Lets all say it together, NOOB

  • man i got the mpk49 it worked reaally nice but now i cant power it up!!what should i do??PLEASE HELP!

  • @kostel7777777 how much did it cost you ?

  • Can someone help me....I have an Axiom 25 that just failed on me so im looking for a new keyboard...But i also just bought An Akai Mpd 26...and i think its a waste to get the MPK 49 since its pretty the same thing with keys...Should i get the Axiom 49 2nd Gen or the MPK 49???

  • hey man you know the tap tempo for the arpegiator? how do set instead of tapping to change the tempo, set it to a knob/modulator.. so i can do it smoothly and more precise??

  • awesome looking device. Trent Reznor used one of these on tour i think.

Would I be right to think that this is a better buy than the alesis micron?

  • how do I use samples to my mpk pads? please help!

  • do you need to connect to a computer? or does it have its own patches?

  • tits

  • @jarrell30 yup! :)

  • why do people ask stupid questions like can i sample with this.......... or does it work with fl studio

  • My akai mpk49 wont work on my windows 7 laptop, i think its the drivers, any help??, the keyboard shows up as working properly but it will not work with any software. please comment, or inbox me back

  • can i use this for flstudio?

  • @GRUMMEL94 Yes.

  • @merriew i´ve bouth it :D it works perfectly with fl =)

  • Can you sample on this?

  • @yardloo3 Yes.

  • If you've been having problems gettin the drum pads to work with FL Studio 9 Check out the First OFFICAL MPK 49 Tutorial-How to set up with FL Studio 9(Pads+Keys) video.

make sure to drop a comment and subscribe seeing as this is the first official MPK/FL STUDIO set up video. Brought to you by KL33N King aka Double K!

  • What they fail to tell you is that the those MPC triggers are not comparable to the 2500. There's a video made on how to use electrical tape to increase the density of the pads making them more responsive. Yes, this requires you to open up your expensive keyboard :) And those keys, don't even get me started, lol.

  • Tip from Robdrums69

IK Multimedia have a GROUP BUY on Sample Tank XT for $49.00 ;)- it's at 3X1 - but soon will be at 4X1 - Great deals !!!

go to their site to check out the deal !!

  • Thanks..why is it that there is a 1/2 sec delay from when i press a key on my mpk until when the actually sound comes out of my speakers?

  • you might have a really bad sound card? you could try to fix it under the audio settings

  • @jeffjeanmcdonald123 change the latency to as low as you can before it starts to crackle...if thats still to laggy then you need a better soundcard. Unless you are on mac because core audio isnt like windows built in audio system and is pretty low latency out of the box.

If you want a cheap fix download asio for all ....ultimatly what you need is a zero latency soundcard though

    peace

    Brian

  • thnx bro just picked one up

  • Is is compatible with sonar?

  • should be -- general midi.

  • Does the AKAI or REASON software work with Linux/Ubuntu operating system I don't have Windows XP!

  • Does it work on vista 64 bit??

  • can you use it in garageband?

can you use it in pro tools le 8?

  • yes and yes

  • @MexicanBraulio anything

  • It took me a few hours te get te know it really well, but now it really adds to my setup. I don't recommend it for beginners because you have to understand more advanced stuff like for example midi sync to get the most out of this unit. The drumpads are also very stiff, so you have to hit them pretty hard, but they are good useable! If you have questions about this unit, don't hesitate to send me a message ;)

  • Hi, i work with cubase 5.1. what is the best settings to avoid mid sync problems. Sometimes some notes seems a little of offset. Tried external end internal sync. could't see the real diference.

of course, i m a begginer. can you help me?

  • Probably the lag on your computer and the sound card.

  • No. There is no lag between my pc and my audio bus. A have a Alesis Multimix 16 USB 2.0.

  • Hmm ... in my experience some lag can be made if loads of effects are put on to a patch as you play it. Try bypassing the effects, then play the track back with them on. Hope this helps!

  • I have this akai running through USB and there's a slight delay, enough to mess things up, after i hit the keys to when the note is actually played through any of the reason modules.

Is this common when running through usb? Would this be solved if was using the midi ports as opposed to the USB?

  • it's your computer sound buffer either you will need to get a better sound card or you will need to go to the audio options of the software(fruity loops, reason, cubase, protools) and simply fix the size of your buffer, generally having a creative sound card you will be able to use your Asio driver which will fix everything for you, look for it on the net :)

  • Its probably the latency of your audio device. What software are you using?

  • Asio driver.

If you have an external sound card, use its driver.

if you dont, download asio4all this will fix your problem

  • i think you'll find its called a suntractor not a contractor hehe jkes!

  • does this controller AUTOMAP DAWs and softsynths?

or do youhave to go program averything

  • hey, nice stuff :). I have an akai mpk 49 midi controller I use the pas to sample ( i make the samples in ableton ) but I want to be able to put long samples on them, I can put a 4 second sample on a pad for example but it stops playing after 1 second. can anyone help ? thanks

  • hey how much is this akai?

  • "nice work man!!!!!!!look my new video"

  • You don't really need an mpc 2500 if you are already using software and an mpk. You can drum just as effective with an mpd for allot cheaper. The 2500 will just make things more complicated in the setup

  • I might buy the MPC 2500, and combine it with the MPK49, is this a good look?

  • no, its a waste of money, ur gunna be paying for MIDI functions that u have on the MPC, if ur gettin an MPC, the just get a standard MIDI controller, like an M Audio Oxygen or Keystation

  • Appreciated.

  • i dont really no which is better the akai mpk49or the axiom Pro49? and can any of these MIDI CONTROLLERS plug into a LAPTOP? plz respond thx

  • I think you should seriously consider doing some research on how midi controllers work before dishing out $500 on one.

...and yes, they're both laptop compatible.

  • It really depends on what software you are using also. From what I have seen on the PRO 49 it's mostly setup for Pro Tools. I am not sure on that though.

Just do some research on them.

  • It's also set up for Reason!

  • i got logic, motu 828mk1 and akai mpk 49 and they work great.

  • i have a few questions for the audio enthusiasts, will this unit work okay with logic pro. also, through a motu 828 mk3 audio interface. probably should upgrade processing power sometime soon too, im using a mac book pro. haha... but i want one of these controllers!!!!

  • does it work with sony acid 7?

  • can u use the mpk49 with pro tools ...will it sync properly ....plz reply anyone with the answer plz ...thanks

  • it should, just spend some time sorting out your midi channels and filters.

    ..........

  • I want one :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • i use this keyboard when making beats man :) check them out !

  • I gotta get this thing

  • @djchrisgeo

akai still havent sorted out the reset issue or Cubase sync probs?

Damn, i was seriously considering this controller. Looks like I´ll go for the Korg Kontrol49 instead if this is true.

  • i'm sold ,, crazy

  • This was probably the worst purchase I've made for my studio. It takes 20 minutes to set up the pads, the notes are random number values so you have to flip through 999 possiblites in order to assign pad 1 to C4, it doesn't work in rewire and it doesn't sync properly with Cubase.

To top it all off you have to reset it every 15 minutes otherwise your MIDI data gets recorded a half second late and you have to go back and adjust the notes in your sequencer.

    PIECE OF SHIT!

  • What soundcard are you using?

Often its just a matter of selecting the right soundcard preferences. Try each setting for "card/driver utilized" till you find one that you can play the keyboard without the delay.

If that dosen't work try decreasing the sample rate/buffer size..

  • you can control redrum in the reason, with the pads?

or the pads of akai mpk49 only have 4 banks of drum samples??????????

  • is there settings/templates for ableton?

  • Does anybody use this with ableton? it won't let me change the midi mapping. Do i need to get the full version (i am using lite) or just another plug in?

  • I was wondering if you can help me? I just ordered the M-Audio NRV10, I'm waiting for it to get here! The question is...Can I use the Akai MPK49 and the ROCKTRON 001-1427 Banshee II Talkbox with my SHURE SM7B Microphone and plug all this in with my dj system! If you can let me know that would be awesome!

Plus! Can I record the mix with the talkbox?

  • imagina uma dessa com um funk fudidooooooooooo

    caralhoooooo

  • where can i get one for around 300 and under

  • is this compatible with acid music studio 6.0?

  • they should make this one with 61 keys.

  • im using my MPK49 with reason 4.0 and when i press rec button it doesnt record? please can someone help me with this?

  • right click the record in reason and have mpk learn from using the button, get what I mean?

  • how do u upload samples to each pad like an MPC??

  • It's a controller.

  • so you cant put samples

  • does this work with cakewalk music creator 4 ????

  • does the akai mpk49 works with fruityloops and garageband

  • yes !!!

  • how doy uo setup mpk49 and the fl studio? ican't get my fl studio tor eact to my rec button for an example

  • link the controller to the record button

  • Thx!

  • "contractor" lol...

  • "subcontractor" :P

  • chce to miec kurwa

  • does this work with fl studio and is this a good beginners keyboard???

  • ide try a maudio or something a bit more basic to get a feel and understanding of midi

  • Anyone know how to get the arpeggiator working with Reason? It's happening in this vid but I can't get it working wih Reason 4.0. I have the clock set to external & I've hit 'play' in Reason. But I hear nothing when holding down notes in arp mode.

  • i get the same problem. for some reason it only works internally....

  • I'm sorry but these controllers area a pile of shit - they have no drivers so you might no even be able to see it in your DAW - I cannot see this using Tracktion 2. Also when you have it connected via USB (who the hell is NOT going to use it this way?!) you cannot use it to control external gear directly! It can only send to MIDI-out from your DAW. It's just so pony it defies belief. It's going back to the shop. Extremely dissapointed :(

  • just bought the MPK, havent had a chance to test it all out, but so far im quite impressed

  • I wish this keyboard was 5 octaves

  • so do you have to buy a computer program to use all the sounds?

  • ya,the keyboard itself has no sounds at all. it uses all the sounds from your software eg.logic, reason cubase. i use logic, just waiting on the keyboard(broke)

  • damn those programs are hella expensive too arent they?

  • ya but well worth it,well depending on what it is you wanna do with your music ya know....

  • bit torrent.......its free my ninja

  • there are other free ones tho i think. blue box, wavosaur, audacity...?

  • Why doesn't it have a pro audio interface with phantom power?...If it had?, it would be the most advanced audio/midi/controller Keyboard on the market.

    Pros: Amazing control!

    Cons: No Audio interface?

  • cos it would probably double the price being a midi controller AND an audio interface. plenty of cheap audio interfaces out there already.

  • Has anyone tried to use this in FL Studio? It doesn't have specialized support for it yet, but it works as a generic controller. I'd like to know anyone's experience with it

  • CAN I PLAY PIANO WITH THE MPK 49?

  • You could play piano, if you had a piano VST on your computer. But the keyboard itself has no sounds.

  • i still cant figure out how to set up the button to change not only the syth selection but also to change patches

  • ok i feel really stupid but do u have to have a computer to have a synth???

  • With a keyboard like this one, its a midi controller, meaning that you can't use it by itslef, but use it to play software synths and control different parameters in programs like ableton live or reason. Not all synths are like that. A synth like the microkorg, or the triton have midi capabilities but have their own oscillators and preset synth voices built into them, for synths like those, all you would need is an amp.

  • Thanks because i really badly need a new keyboard and i like the synth kind of stuff so i was wonderin what should i get???

  • what kind of synthesizer ive never had one but i want a good one also anything under 600 dollars please help!!!

  • I would suggest the korg microkorg, it's really cool and you can do a lot of stuff with it, it's got an onboard vocoder (a thing that lets you "talk" through the synthesizer, bad explanation, so just look it up or something) and it's only $400. I have it and it's a lot of fun.

  • but doesnt it have like small keys? cuz i want normal size

  • well yeah it does, it's got 37 keys, but i am able to do a lot of cool stuff with it otherwise, if you want some of the same functionality of the microkorg but its got full sized keys and a better vocoder, although it's $600. For me, i wouldn't use the microkorg to play something like a piano through the computer, but it is a must have for straight synth sounds.

  • I was looking a alesis micron. I really liked all the sounds and the looping ability. But could i run my midi through a micron????

  • Yes and the micron is just like the microkorg. I personally prefer the micron but that is just a matter of taste. At any rate they both have midi in/out/thru so you can hook another full sized keyboard controller (a cheap one) up to it and play them piano style, if you want.

  • what do you guys think about the MPC function of this keyboard? can it actually be compared even slightly with a stand-alone MPC? I don't see most of the controllers & faders & what not, for instance - you can't produce a scratch sound with this board vs. an MPC. & of course all the samples you use in the MPK's pads can be used directly from the keys. I don't own an MPC, but that's just how I see it from what I now about this product.

  • The functions like the note repeat, note quantize, and the transport controls are similar to the MPC. It apparently works well with Reason, but other DAW software has issues (so I've heard). I think Akai next step would be to produce a sampler/midi controller hybrid, like Roland did with the SP-555.

  • man i should have saw this before i bought my axiom 25

  • Contractor? hahaha

  • hahahaa...

  • yeah...he said "Contractor" instead of "SUBtractor"...not the best product specialist in the world.

  • mah dad jus orderd one of theses fo me ,,, i should be gittin it like on the 25th of this month.... they hav to get more shipped in

  • tell em to get me one too. : )

  • does this work with logic 7???

  • works with every software

  • I want one of these things sooo bad.

  • for the mpk do u just hook it up to ur pc with the usb cable ????

  • Yes, with the supplied USB cable.

  • Can you use the MPC style pads to sample like you would on a MPC drum machine?

  • it's not a sampler...it's just a MIDI controller. All the samples are controlled through the computer. You could chop up the samples in Propellerhead Recycle, and run it through Reason to sequence those chops.

  • What do you think?

    axiom 49 or mpk49?

  • mpk has better build quality

I like it better than axiom

  • mpk has more options.

  • I cant get ableton 7 & reason 4 to rewire. Keep getting a midi error. Is there a workaround for this? Great controller but worthless to me without the rewire functionality. My axiom works perfect, maybe I should have saved the $400 akai.

  • I just got mine tonight. This thing is awesome.

I also have an Akai EWI4000 that I cannot even begin to describe the fun of playing.

NI Komplete 5 is now my complete bitch.

  • I got this bad boy a couple of days ago. could've bought the axiom 49 for 150 dollars less, but you get what you pay for, and this was well worth it.

  • hmm, do I want 12 pads, or 8? lol ... and maybe i'm crazy, but 72 assignable parameters doesn't sound too shabby to me.

    mpk > axiom.

  • hahaha willdahbe, yea i think akai is simply using its look and name. dunno bout akai ne more without the original designer behind the tool its just another tool, the disigner who is now working with m audio, i dont know his name but their supposedly working on a flipping industry make over machine.

  • Roger Linn is the designer of the MPC 60, 60II & the 3000. He also designed the M-Audio Black Box. He had nothing to do with MPC 2000 upwards. AKAI was bought by Numark in late 2004. Numark also owns Alesis, who had input on the keyboard design. Roger Linn manufactures his own guitar effect now and sell upgrades for MPC 60 & M-Audio Black Box.

  • ima check this blackbox you speak off

  • hm...this thing doesn't sequence does it?

  • NO it does have a sequencer. Thats for your DAW

  • No. It is a usb/midi "keyboard controller" that works as the physical input interface to control the parameters and settings of software synthesizers and virtual instruments running as plug-ins in DAW and sequencing software in a PC or Apple computer. Sory for the run-on sentence. In brief, NO, IT DOES NOT HAVE SOUNDS, "BUILT-IN" LIKE TRADITIONAL KEYBOARDS.

It is basically a glorified game pad specifically designed to more easily create sonic orgasms with audio software. I dig it.

  • It can also control external gear via MIDI.

And it can run stand-alone (for say, live performance with rack or other synths) if you buy a 6V 1A DC adapter. The DC adapter is not included. You get a quick-start manual, a CD with detailed manuals and additional software (some light versions of popular apps included along with th MPK apps), and a short USB cable as accessories.

  • Whats garbage about it? seemed pretty solid for a midi controller.. why are you even comparing a $2000 mv8800 to this $400 midi controller? while your banging on your mv8800 what if you feel the need to play some keys? the cheapest decent basic midi keyboard is $200 and that has no screen, sequencer, knobs, pads, aftertouch,. Again i ask how is this garbage? Its a midi controller with plenty of keys, buttons and knobs, tell me a midi controller that is better and why?

  • agreed...this keyboard is a good controller...some people just wish that AKAI still produced the MPC 2000xl?!!

  • the axiom 49 is a better controller more solid, keys feel better and so do the pads(more solid and can take more of a beating),the faders on that mpk feel cheap, the axiom 49 goes for 200 or 180 with a student discount..if anything akai followed the steps from m-audio's axiom but cannot beat it period

  • and you know this how??? its not even out yet.

  • I disagree with the pads on the axiom, the pads can only be either velocity or pressure NOT both like the AKAI...I don't like the axioms hard pads...but that's only a preference. I agree the Axiom is one of better M-Audio keyboards as far as build goes. Each to their own.

  • Akai makes the best touch pads. Period.

Well, my Roland SPD20's pads are extremely nice too, as is the V-Mesh stuff.

But those are trigger systems and not "touch pads".

I don't care what M-Audio calls their cheap, MPC knock-off. Comp USA carries M-Audio. That should tell you something.

  • Wow! Nice

I'll buy myself a gift in December ;-)

  • Finally!!
