@amcintyre1 There are two reasons to raise: for value or as a bluff. The words "picking it up" really don't hold any water. He's not raising middle pair, no kicker for value so that leaves bluffing. With that said, he picked up on something after durrrr called and just decided not to continue barreling. I don't fault his play, just Kaplan's analysis of the situation.

This is all basic NL strategy. I'm done arguing with people on YouTube who obviously don't even play the game themselves.

At 2:14, when ziigmund raises that flop, he's not doing it to "pick up the pot right here" he's doing it to start a barrel in position if he thinks Dwan has just 44-JJ or a weak Q.  But he made a good read on the turn and shut it down. Also, there is a non-negligible chance he is just playing drunk.

A9 doesn't play well post flop against aggressive opponents. You see if an Ace comes in a raised pot it is likely you will be drawing to 3 outs against a better Ace. If the flop comes 9 high there is a decent chance an opponent has either an over pair or a draw of some kind if it is multi way. Either way the chances of extracting value from that situation are slim, and often it's best to muck those hands than give yourself difficult decisions. Unless you are Durrr, then you just soul read.

Elezra is looser than many players and he relies on his aggression post flop to win pots without the best hand. If the flop comes 8 high or J high he of course has the same problems as Barry would, but its less likely that J8 will be dominated than A9. Sahamies was responding to the table talk when he called with 6 3 off suit but also relies on his aggression to win pots where he may not have the best of it.

A rag is a hand that can play well post flop when heads up but rather less well in a ring game when there is multi way action. Of course if your hand is suited it plays a lot better as you are drawing to the nut (nut = best) possible hand. Thus in this case the hand was not suited and thus plays poorly. Really you would need to flop two pair or trips (3 of a kind) to continue in the hand. This is fairly standard.
