  • iIt was only a show of respect, but you know how republicans are.

  • At least he didn't try to hump his leg Chris... unlike you.

  • Not only did he bow to the emperor, he bowed to the old hag too...man that imbicile needs to go..RON PAUL 2012!!! Give us Ron Paul or, GIVE US DEATH!!!...I can't believe that tool, Chris, the bitch, he/she mathews thinks it was wrong...freaken little fairy!! Anways ways, who gives a shit about Japan, china is the country that's raping Americans the worst right now..ty you obummer for giving the chinese the tail section to the multi billion dollar helicopter..SIEG HEIL OBUMMER!!!

  • 'Im an Irish American I would have a hard time bowing to the Queen of England' - most so called 'irish' americans dont even have a clue about the shit that people in Ireland and the UK had to put up with, for the sake of peace and respect he should bow and not say stupid things like that. I love americans generally but not those who term themselves 'irish americans' and throw their support behind a cause they really dont understand.

Oh and Obama was right to bow or to try to at least lol!

  • Your very naive if you don't respect other peoples cultures as a important world leader. (whatever country you lead). Obama isn't conceding power or anything like that its just simply adhering to the correct protocols. Its a good thing. I think those who don't understand this need a reality check this is why you aren't always liked around the world. Though I believe the foremost world power will always have people that won't like them.

  • If you bow out of choice as a free man there is nothing wrong with that. A free man bowing is still a free man. He was in Japan and chose to follow their customs like a good leader who is trying to get shit done is supposed to do.

Now if it where on American soil then maybe you might have an argument.

  • obama made the right choice of bowing, your in japan, your suppose to bow, thats what they do in japan. plus, obama is just a president of the united states, he will only rule for 4, 8 and maybe even 10 years and the emperor will be in his position till the day he dies. akihito is royal blood, hes the 125th emperor of japan, america has any royal blood? hawaiian kingdom had royal blood, but thats all over though

  • fuckin' ridiculous!!!! it's wasting time to talk about that.. i don't mind!!

Obama bowed of his own motion...all of people does not always do that!!!

it depends to bow, or not..this is not impotant!!!

  • Obama bowed many times like he was a wood pecker

  • It's a sign of respect, it has nothing to do with the rank of the other guy. Obama showed great respect to the human being that was in front of him.

  • @fenhrir You dont know the cultural reason why people bow as its not for respect but offering your neck for your head cut off and await their decision to confirm the power they have over if you live or die.

Its only a tradition to keep your head from the shogun but it does mean they have power over you

  • @beginization »So your telling me that all the people i saw bowing to each other when I was in Japan is because they say the other have power over them?

lol yes when you bowed to the shogun maybe that's what it meant but not today my friend, it's like a hand shake.

  • @fenhrir If Obama want to bow to people let him do it on his own time as he is representing a country is the leader of it so if you dont know about protocals I cant teach you. How opten did you see the royality in japan bow, they did not even bow back while Obama was bowing over and over again.

  • @beginization Well by bowing he showed that American are not all stupid cowboys, that they know manner and are informed of world customs.

If you come into my home you better act accordingly to my rules or you're out.

When you go and visit someone, you have to show respect, that's the problem today want to be nice to everyone so you forget yourself so the others feel at home in your country. That's why we can't have women as medical staff for some religious people...

  • @fenhrir We fought for years so women have the same rights as men, but because someone is coming from another country with another religious background we go back 60 years in evolution.

    Learn respect,

If the emperor was in the USA and Obama would have bow, then It wouldn't make sense.

  • @fenhrir Obama just wanted another golden gift like he got from the muslim king for bowing like a good dog. Would you mind explaining the reason Obama never bowed to the Queen of england when he met her in her home ?

do you think it had something to do with his islamic upbringing as he bowed to the Muslim king, emperor of Japan, Chairman Mao replacement and Soros but no women ?

do you know his 1st act in office was to send the bust of Churchill back to england and gave them a insulting gift.

  • @fenhrir You need to learn more about the world and come out of your home to read the news that Presidents dont bow, subjects bow or are you saying Obama regards himself as japanese and chinese to on top of Black, just because he lived in indonesia does not make him asian. Your not talking about Obama who gave the finger unprovoked on TV during his debates and town hall meetings, and does not seem to have manners at home in america by the way he talks about others and refuses to even wear a tie

  • @fenhrir How many people do you bow to everyday in america if it just means hello.

I hope you will show your country men respect you show to japanese ?

if you lived in japan you would not be so nuance as my cousin married a japanese lady and spent 5 yrs their and tells me it was one of the most racist countries he has ever gone too and I met a jap who did not want to go back because of it.

But read about the custom you find the truth, you can bow at a jap restaurant for service but not me.

  • @beginization I'm in Canada, I don't bow to anyone because it's not in our customs. When you go to France and see men kissing other men on the cheek will you think they are gay?

Make a search in google: australian social customs

Your governement explain to visitor or immigrant your own country customs, I think that means that people around the world don't have all the same social customs.

  • @beginization Yes some Japanese are really racist and I lived the experience, but some of them are more than happy to talk to a Gaijin. Japan is slowly opening to visitors, but they have to adapt. Racism exist in every country, you have assholes in every country also.

I respect the fact that Japanese kept their culture, here in Canada we lost the little bit of culture we have to respect the culture of immigrants...is it better?

  • He bowed low because the Emperor was so damn short. Bush didn't bow because he didn't realize that was the emperor. Cheny didn't bow because his belly was too fat.

Don't you Americans have an economy to fix and a middle east to fight? Talk about a waste of resources.

  • he kept bowing. enough already. i think subsequent moves were insulting.

  • Why does Matthews always sound like he's holding a big pool of saliva in his mouth.

He's obnoxious. A clown. Hard to take him seriously. A lot of cable guys are like him; all mouth, no substance.

  • Anybody in a place of power representing their country should be as mindful as possible of the customs and courtesies of the nation they are visiting. This is the same if you are a tourist on holiday, or the President making a state visit. Why cant an american bow indeed? surely we wouldnt want to be known for being too stuck up to show respect in one of the most basic of ways...

  • This is such big freaking news. How about bending some oil barons, and making them get an oil leak stopped! Then throw them in jail. Hell I have saw on my local news people get arrested for not cutting their grass. Oh, by the way we accidentally just dump about the equivalent of the US Oil Reserve in the Gulf of Mexico! I guess we can store it there, and on the shores since nobody uses the Gulf.

  • wtf u bow and dont hand shake or hand shake and dont bow,, nigga,, u didnt bow,, u bend over ur ass to japanese kenyan nigger fuck

  • haha Not only did he bow...he bowed MULTIPLE times. Obama was schooled in the protocol???? Protocol is that national leaders DO NOT bow to other national leaders. Showing respect? Or showing inferiority? These people know nothing about Japan, the emperor, or to "esteem" he is held. I didn't see the emperor doing any bowing. In fact, nobody returns the Obama bow. That should tell you something right there.

  • @Chriscjs are you a moron? the JAPAN EMPEROR ISN'T A FUCKING LEADER! it's a sign of greeting to bow to others in japan as americans shake hands with others.

    bloody idiot you truly are.

  • @oldmagic There you go again. Typical angry lib full of rage and spewing vulgarity and character attacks. You clearly do not understand the history of the Japanese Emperor and what he currently represents. You also do not understand the protocol of bowing. The first to initiate the bow is the one in a submissive role. The lower the bow, the more humble submission this shows. Respect? Yes. But it's not equal to a handshake. Notice, no return bow. Obama is a serial bower.

  • @Chriscjs u got it right there

  • I can't believe the words of this North American "American's don't bow". What makes him think USA is so superior that they shouldn't show cultural respect towards a country a lot more ancient than the USA. The USA needs to grow up and use their common sense more, because these narcissist ideas make USA look more pathetic than it already is.

  • @Lexman00 Not bowing isn't showing superiority. It's shows equality. When kings of old met, they never bow. They are equals. Bowing represent submission. The American President represents all of America in these meetings with other national leaders. We are not superior...we don't ask others to bow before us. Nor are we inferior. Bowing to national leaders communicates to the world WEAKNESS and SUBMISSION. But then again, that's EXACTLY what Obama is regarding foreign policy. WEAK.

  • I meant the superiority to not respect another countries culture or customs! Not bowing to Japanese Emperor is showing disrespect for a country whose culture is a lot more ancient than USA. How would US react if no Asian leader shook the president's hand because hand shaking is not part of Asian custom. The US was a guest in Japan and out of common decency should bow to the emperor. Stop, making this issue about submission and weakness, because that point of view is absurd and pointless.

  • @Lexman00 because we live by the line "all created equal". why do we have to degrade ourselves to keep you happy? want to get on your knees for your monarchy, fine. we don't have to and they don't expect us to.

  • @2244blahblahblah bowing or curtsying is basically an insult to the american culture.

  • @2244blahblahblah This is about culture and custom moron! Not bowing to Japanese Emperor is showing disrespect for a country whose culture is a lot more ancient than US. How would US react if no Asian leader shook the president's hand because hand shaking is not part of Asian custom. The US was guest in Japan and out of common decency should bow to the emperor.Stop making this issue about inequality, because that argument is absurd. The US doesn't have real culture so it's understandable I guess.

  • Ha ha, i love how he bowed so much lower to the emperor than the emperors wife!

  • It's Bush's fault!

  • Just more phoney Republican outrage. Keep digging the hole, you criminal scumbag. You're lucky not to be in jail Cheney.

  • "Dick Cheney has come out from under his bridge and has bitten the President's leg again"

    Hahahahahahaha. Ha.

  • wow dangerous opinons.

    "americans don't Bow" ? Wtf?

where does this sense of superiority come from? so when you visit your neighbors and tey say no shoes on teh couch you keep your shoes on and kick your feet up?

    grow the fuck up.

  • there's ACTUALLY controversy over this? In japan they bow to show respect. in america we shake hands. Like FFS In japan they are probably having a shit fit about the emperor shaking hands with a gaijin.

  • Obama is a TOOL!

  • Comment removed

  • Dick Evil Cheney and his policies need to go with his term which is the end!!!

  • osama is luvky, if he not bow, japan king do karate on him, shit he die

  • Comment removed

  • Get a life.....This is the the way Japanese do.....

  • If the Japanese press, citizens, and Emperor were not mortified, as they so stated, by Obama's behavior, chances are Tingles would not be running this commentary.

  • I dare Chris Matthews to go to Japan and try not to bow. Everyone does it there so it's impossible not to do it yourself. Not bowing wd be like not saying hello or shaking hands. That female guest has no idea what she's talking about -- what does China have to do with Obama bowing to the Japanese emperor?

  • In Dick Cheney's twisted neo con world, I guess the best president would just punch every other world leader in the face as a greeting.

  • I've really had it with the exceptionalist notion that Americans are better than everybody else, and therefore exempt from showing respect. What is this "Americans don't bow" BS? When in Rome, you do as the Romans. Showing respect and deference following local traditions enhances our stature as citizens of the world's superpower, not the other way around. When we realize that we live among hundreds of nations that deserve respect, our relationship with the world will get better, not before.

  • no one cares, some say leader of the free world, I say 1/3 of the power of the US government. as such you can say or do anything you want. Obama passes everything so lets correct our mistakes and get congress and senate to act

  • militarism rules!! the japs say

  • Cheney's lap dog kissed and held hands with the Saudi Prince.

  • humans bow.. u'll be amazed what other things they can do.. like being respectful to other cultures.

  • Dick Cheney Has No Respect For Anyone. The Emperor Is An Older Man. What"s Wrong With Showing Respect To An Older Japanese Man? Dick Cheney Needs To Learn Some Manners.

  • i think japanese people don't handshake+bow at the same time.

  • please check my videos for proof of some knowledge on this. yes, some Japanese do bow and shake hands. generally, foreigners are not expected to bow. Hell, foreigners are not expected to know anything, so when you do, they LOVE you.

The problem here is that Obama is very tall and likely not used to bowing, Akihito is under 5 feet tall I'm sure. it's not a comfortable angle to achieve naturally.

  • Dick Cheney is a confessed war criminal.

Dick Cheney must be tried and executed.

  • Here is Nixon bowing to Mao Tse-tung watch?v=TP_oOJiuvW4

  • @RealLifeProduct Great parallel with Nixon bowing to Mao Tse-Tung!! Hopefully Obama will get impeached too!!!

  • Matthews is an asshole, and he sides with righties way too often.

The Emperor of Japan is NOT recognized as a divine being or descended from divinity, Hirohito renounced this in 1945.

People bow in Japan all the f*cking time Matthews... it's the standard form of greeting. The anchors do it at the beginning of the news. The conductors do it going in and out of the cars on the bullet train.

Matthews was grievously insensitive in his comments.

  • @KataVideo Agreed. But what would Fox News, the Right wing or Matthews know about being polite or showing good manners? These parochial shitheads wouldnt' know their asses from their armpits.
