As a lot of the Chi Dem material has so many vocal layers (like what Queen used to do) the usey loops & samples live for the extra harmony parts as obviously some of them are much higher than any of the other guys in the band could sing as backing vocals.

They were amazing due to the fact that not only were they all proficient instrumentally, but they could also all hit the notes for the vocal harmonies. That's what made Queen unique. Guns are different as although they're all great at playing their particular instrument they don't have the voices to be able to do the harmonies live hence why Guns use samples live of certain backing vocal parts.

GnR shouldnt really do this song live. It doesnt serve it justice. Too much backrtacking. Its just a harh sound to reproduce live, although Thal does a pretty good job on Buckethead's solo.

yeah, hes a virtuoso as well and hes just as good as buckethead. in this song i would have preferred a buckethead solo with some augmented/chromatic sweep tap arpeggios, which i think would fit the song really well. anyways both of them have cool solos in chinese democracy, i hope the new album doesnt take as long haha.

@tapPOOH From what I know, Buckethead did most (or a lot) of the solos, but they were re-recorded by Thal. Still kinda Buckethead style. I just hope Axl Rose can keep this version of the band together with Ashba and Thal. Should make for some good rock riffs on new material, if its not already recorded

@clbaumer Actually the only solos Ron Thal did on the album was Shackler's Revenge, Catcher in the Rye, and the first part of the solo in Scraped and Raid. Buckethead did the second half apparently and for me, its really hard to tell them apart. The rest of the solos on the album were Buckethead and Robin Finck and its pretty easy to tell them apart.
