@shoobee101 They do it over hilly terrain, and it's not a forced march......it's more like a run. The max stop they get is exacly 10 muinets, and all they get is a sandwhich, abit of cake and a chocolate bar or something. The USMC don't have high standards
@daveme7 They have to do the 40 miler, endurence course, battle swimming test and much much more. Also they had a copmetition with the USMC at the 40 miler. Which had to be undertaken in 7 hours with a 100 lbs of gear. There where 4 teams, 2 USMC and 2 RMC. 1 USMC pulled out after 23 miles due to the pace. The other USMC took over 8 hours. Both RMC teams finshed the course in the time limit. (Both under 6 hrs and 45 mins) Enough said. The USMC are a fighting force and I do respect that

@daveme7 as a matter of fact I have had a 'Taster' session and I spent over 1 week at Limpston viewing there training that they do. They go for runs evrey day, if they do something wrong, they get punished for it no matter how minor. I saw a troop that was 1 minute late for breakfast, they missed breakfast and had to go on a 2 mile run in full fighting gear. They also have the longest training in the world for a non officer role.
@daveme7 As I said. Royal Marine Commandos are the best marines and amphibious force in the world. We just don't have the man power, and I have seen there training so there for I know what it's like. And Brittian never get into any wars, we back up USA who are the ones to get into war. E.G Iraq, Afganistan, Libya etc It was the USA that wanted to go into them. Well apart from Libya, that was a combined agreement from NATO.

Easy..........Royal Marine Commando go for 4 mile runs basicly evreyday. Plus they have to do 30 miles in less then 8 hours........while carrying over 100 lbs of kit.

I respect all forces, but some American people think that there Army, USMC, special forces etc are the best in the world. idk why ppl even argue about it I've seen a marine thank a USAF a-10, ac-130, and h-60 pilot for helping them while in battle. Haha, just been looking at the USMC fitness requirements to get into Basic. I couldn't quite beleive it, i'm stunned. I done my ADSC for the British Army last month and by the looks of it British Army Selection looks 10x harder than USMC Selection. 2 Pull ups? Haha, seriously, is that some sort of joke? 1.5 mile run time is 13:30? My nan could do that. I had to do it in 10:30 for the British Army.

There's no point of anyone arguing on here. That's childish and immature. The fact of the matter is, yes Marines are by far the most physical and the most physically fit, MORE times than not. There's still the few that make them all look bad though, as in any organization or branch of service. And the Marines may SAY they rely on Naval air support, but naval air support isn't what wins wars, it's USAF air support, ALONG WITH the cumalitive efforts of ALL other branches involved in the fight.
All chest thumping aside.... I'll just say it again and be done: One branch alone fails, all together makes the US the strongest.

@Viruz41 Where you go and what you do relies heavily on what your MOS (your job) is. If you are an infantryman you will most definitely be deployed multiple times to, more than likely nowadays, Afghanistan. I can't speak very well for the rest of the Corps because I was an infantryman.

The Entire U.S. Military including reserves and National guard does not posses enough man power to enforce Martial law of the United States. Not all women who want to serve in the military looks like Ellen Degeneres, or any other dyke, some female soldiers/sailors/airwomen are prettier than any girl you've ever been with and that's not even a joke or an insult. Most women (not unlike some men) are self conscious with their bodies during the phys. exm. in MEP and that's with other girls. Why would they want to do that in front of men? Also, when you do decide to "make" our Government give access to women into all branches of the military and all MOS's make it so that women have to shower and bunk with us guys too. The female community along with the men all over this country would be so grateful for that. And since we're talking about equality and integration, have the government scrape the whole "Ladies Room" and "Men's Room" garbage. Co-ed restrooms should be standard in this great country! @shoobee101 They do it over hilly terrain, and it's not a forced march......it's more like a run. The max stop they get is exacly 10 muinets, and all they get is a sandwhich, abit of cake and a chocolate bar or something. The USMC don't have high standards

@daveme7 They have to do the 40 miler, endurence course, battle swimming test and much much more. Also they had a copmetition with the USMC at the 40 miler. Which had to be undertaken in 7 hours with a 100 lbs of gear. There where 4 teams, 2 USMC and 2 RMC. 1 USMC pulled out after 23 miles due to the pace. The other USMC took over 8 hours. Both RMC teams finshed the course in the time limit. (Both under 6 hrs and 45 mins) Enough said. The USMC are a fighting force and I do respect that

@clarkiiboii09 i dunno about the USMC standard but i'm sure its along the same as army infantry.that is 12 minute miles with full battle rattle.which i know isnt very hard at all,but thats the bare standard.to do forty as just a forced march is easy breezy.i find it hard to believe that jarhead grunts could not do this.any marine i served with could easily have done this.

@daveme7 as a matter of fact I have had a 'Taster' session and I spent over 1 week at Limpston viewing there training that they do. They go for runs evrey day, if they do something wrong, they get punished for it no matter how minor. I saw a troop that was 1 minute late for breakfast, they missed breakfast and had to go on a 2 mile run in full fighting gear. They also have the longest training in the world for a non officer role.

@daveme7 As I said. Royal Marine Commandos are the best marines and amphibious force in the world. We just don't have the man power, and I have seen there training so there for I know what it's like. And Brittian never get into any wars, we back up USA who are the ones to get into war. E.G Iraq, Afganistan, Libya etc It was the USA that wanted to go into them. Well apart from Libya, that was a combined agreement from NATO.

Just wandering because in 1990, I did not just see their training, I experianced it until about 1995 when my enlistment was up. Now, one of your points is people in the USA think we have the best forces-and you-a professed Brit thinks you have the best Marines(run in circles). In the US Marines, they do not teach us to have prefabricated excuses when we fail. Integrity is evewrything!

I ain't going to "put down" another country's Marine corps because after all im British & were allies BUT the British Royal Marine Commando's have much harder training that the USMC I ain't saying the USMC are bad because there not ! there bad-ass but you cant compare 13 weeks of training to 32 weeks :\ you just cant but respect for anyone signing up any where air force navy army because your the guys that are out there risking your lives so I say we stop fighting amongst each other!

I respect all forces, but some American people think that there Army, USMC, special forces etc are the best in the world. When there accherly not, the UK has a better fighting force tacticly, but the USA have much more soliders and eqipment, even then our eqipment and soliders will have a fair fight with them, but they just have more of it.

idk why ppl even argue about it I've seen a marine thank a USAF a-10, ac-130, and h-60 pilot for helping them while in battle. I've ALSO seen an USAF pilot thank a marine recon team for saving him when he needed it. IF most ppl taking sides knew what actually happened in the military most of this nonsense would cease. I've been in the USAF for about 2 years now and yes theres some joking between the two be we all know we win this fight together...point blank period.

Haha, just been looking at the USMC fitness requirements to get into Basic. I couldn't quite beleive it, i'm stunned. I done my ADSC for the British Army last month and by the looks of it British Army Selection looks 10x harder than USMC Selection. 2 Pull ups? Haha, seriously, is that some sort of joke? 1.5 mile run time is 13:30? My nan could do that. I had to do it in 10:30 for the British Army.
USMC is so glorified in the States, Pathetic.

They may directly support them as they have more contact w/ them than other branches, that's bc the Marines is a division of the Navy essentially if you look into the history of the two however much one may wanna deny it, it's true. The AIR FORCE air power, however, is what wins wars, so although they may not DIRECTLY support Marines, ALL branches cumalitively win wars not 1!

There's no point of anyone arguing on here. That's childish and immature. The fact of the matter is, yes Marines are by far the most physical and the most physically fit, MORE times than not. There's still the few that make them all look bad though, as in any organization or branch of service. And the Marines may SAY they rely on Naval air support, but naval air support isn't what wins wars, it's USAF air support, ALONG WITH the cumalitive efforts of ALL other branches involved in the fight.

@Viruz41 Where you go and what you do relies heavily on what your MOS (your job) is. If you are an infantryman you will most definitely be deployed multiple times to, more than likely nowadays, Afghanistan. I can't speak very well for the rest of the Corps because I was an infantryman.
@blackhatch46 the airwing is indeed very helpful when they get to you, but every time my unit needed CAS the fight was over before it got to us....

OH, and before all the Marines start telling me they were the first boots on the ground in Guadalcanal, you are indeed correct. The Marines did most of the work, the hardest work in taking and holding the island. But in the end victory was because America can and will use every arm of her forces, the Marines, the Navy and the Army to work together to bring victory. That's been my point all along.

Sorry to tell you ecigguy, but Marines are better. I am one and I am on Fort Meade. I have to see all branches everyday and it gets old watching them sneak into the back door of the chow hall and/ or passing them up on a run down the street. Sorry but we clean up any mess they leave behind. Don't say we're nothing without them, because we ahave fewer people but we still crush them at everything(except twinkie eating contests....)

I think what ECigGuy is trying to point out is, is that all branches deserve the same amount of respect, and all support each other. The reason why our Military is so great is because we are superior in all our branches. We support each other whenever needed. The Marines are hardcore and are some of the beast fighting force in the world. BUT, without Naval transport and support, you guys would be quite screwed. I hope to join the Marine Corps. Everyone stop arguing and agree Military is great.
