  • measurement starts at the pit edge of the line at oakshade grove, width of the line or whether you step on it isn't of concern, the foul line is about 4 inches wide here. There is still a definite no cross point that measurement starts from at both places. The rock measurement point is a valid point and would give about 6" variance still further than 14'6". I was the retriever, I know how the stone landed. Either location, its still a great heavy stone and a fun event.

  • About that 6" inch advantage, that is all depending on how the stone lands, and how straight you hold that little stick you put in the pit. But you can bet I will be up there again next year to throw again, if I am healthy.

  • German american festival in Oregon OH, new record set for the same sized stone. 15'2"

  • No the GAF measures different and has different foul line rules. They measure from the middle of the hole the rock makes, Sugarcreek measures from the front edge of the divit, like a shot put. And at GAF you can step on th efoul line, sugarcreek you can't. And the stones are completely different the guy who throws that stone up there could not throw the sugarcreek rock the same way, shape wouldn't allow it. I have thrown both, Sugarcreek is much harder to throw.

  • You make it seem like the foul line is 12inches wide or so! It's only about 1 inch wide! They have a new concrete approach. This thrower did not step on the line! As i see it 138 lbs is a 138lbs by the way you didn't say how far you threw the rock!

  • The rocks are completely different shape and balance. The Sugarcreek rock is a smaller rock, not longer like the GAF's, it makes for a tougher throw trust me on this I am not taken anything away from the throw but it is completely different. Oh and I also had a 12'7 throw that was not a foul and fouled on a 13'3 and 13'1. And that was before I really started training for this years Sugarcreek event so I wasn't even at my "peak." Threw the Sugarcreek rock 13'1.5 No foul

  • Ok I just watched the video, that stick was in the back of the divit that the rock made, more then 6 inches. Awsome throw but measure that the way Sugarcreek does and I am not sure it beats it. I can't wait till next year, hope he throws when I am up there so I can see it.

  • You coming back to try to throw futher this year. With a throw of 12'3" last year, if you are coming what do you think you will throw?

  • Unfortuneatly I will not be able to compete this year as I am trainng in British Columbia Canada, and a plane ticket home is nearing $400 each way. Good luck to you, and the other competitors. My gf and I were just talking about this and are hoping we can attend in the future.

  • Good way to give yourself a hernia.

  • Oh I will put this again incase it didn't work last time. I didn't think you thew 13 feet last year . Did you??

  • Yes, at the 2007 festival my throw was 13 ft, or .5 inches short of it.
