  • only seems more relevant as the years go by!

  • The 70's Petrol Rationing. Still have some ration coupons somewhere.

  • This is the UK Version that says Petrol does anyone have the US version of this song with the alternate Lyrics????

  • @SEVFEST is it really necesasary?

  • I know you Tawnywolf, since your father is my uncle... Glad to see this on youtube, I still have the television interview that channel six did many moons ago...

  • My Father, Robert S. White wrote this song and my Uncle was drummer David Ballinger! I grew up listening to these songs on 45's and I still have them! I wonder if Dad knows his songs are on YouTube! How cool is this??! Thank you SO much raremorning for making and posting this video!

  • I had a capri

  • lol, takes me back, they did a great version of the smurfs but i can find it.

  • @basemassey The Smurfs takeoff is on Back In Trouble Again.

  • Oh Dear Has to be a scimitar!

  • @OLaverty111 I used to own a scimitar. It was a gas to own, but the body was fibreglass - very light - I hit some black ice and bye-bte scimitar. But I really enjoyed owning it. Pulled lottsa gals.

  • Get ready.. we really arent that funny, listen to this.

  • I never heard the part with the car starting up before also the video stopping and going reminds me of trying the get the car started since that how it is using You

Tube at home. I remember when this came out. I did know all of the words to this song. Somone compared this song to "The Logiical Song" before. I remember hearing this on WGN and WLS. Steve Daul has done Paridys and some one did one about the AT&T and Bell breaking up once.

  • They should re-release this. It's more releveant than in 1979 when this first came out.

  • this should have made the top 40.

  • Didn't make the Top 40.

  • @heine71 Reached #70 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in the USA.

  • @heine71 It made the Top 30 on WLS Chicago's survey chart in Fall 1979.

  • Oh strange. Slightly different lyrics than the one I know. No "crouched on my sister's bike" or "odds and evens will see us through".

  • I have heard this song multiple times but never knew the words.

This is great, things really never changed....

    "and now I'm taking pills".

  • Ahh...what a summer! Had a '72 Vega, which got about 17 MPG...sat in a few gas-lines...Thanks for the memories...I think...

  • UK's answer to Weird Al Yankovic.

  • Quite.

  • @menchitty11 Making good parodies whilst Weird Al was still in nappies :D

  • @menchitty11 Weird Al Yankovic was America's answer to these guys..... their music goes back to the early 1960's.... Weird Al's first record came out in 1978.

  • Bring it on! Johnny Walker Radio 2 stuff, the guys may need it for their pension funds!

  • @lins50th I agree Johnny Walker would relate to this.

  • OMG I've been trying to find this for my boss!!!! You rock!

  • This song makes me laugh out loud. The lyrics are clever and the subject of rocketing fuel prices is very relevant today.

  • @anomomilos but this wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Supertramp.

  • @anomomilos So true!
