  • this is real music not trash. you know i would have been a singer back then with my type of voice unlike todays screamers.

  • Love it!!! We were so elegant back then. I know we had out issues but compared to the shyt we listen to, wear and think these days, there's almost no comparison.

  • I just got it! The author, Steven Beasley, actually emailed me and offered to autograph it for me.! It's a fabulous book.

  • Who did she choose is the end? Was it the guy in the khakis?

  • Ever since I danced the jitterbug in theatre school (not nearly as well as these dancers) I have loved swing music, jitterbug, the lindy hop and all swing dancing. Thanks for posting this. I am going to bookmark your website.

  • joe: I think it's quite ironic that you would call this music 'wholesome', all things considered.

  • fuaaaaaaah!!!!

    to cool!!!!!! SWING LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • dude!!! the way this gal move her hips is hipnothic!!!

    anfuckn believable!!!

love jeannie phelps veloz!!! and that final smile is killer!!!!

  • omg what a great song!!!! and dancing and everything .......... wanna live in that era

  • omg, me too!!

  • I know what you mean... if only entertainment was still like that~!

  • Yeah! I agree!!

  • @zajecjan if you want to be seperated than go ahead.

  • The girl doing the jitterbug / lindy with the two servicemen is still living. She was about 18 years old in this video and you can do the math to determine how old she might be these days. Her name back then was Jeanne Phelps who later married and became Jeanne Phelps Veloz.

If you do a search on YouTube for "Jean Veloz" you'll see a number of videos where you can watch her dancing these days.

Social dancing to big swing bands back then was a way to meet chicks like Jean and have fun.

  • really? imma look her up=]

  • How good it is to see wholesome music and musicians again. Don't know how the garbage called music today survives, I guess our country is "progressing" in the wrong direction/

  • She's like a cartoon character :P

  • This is life, love, fun and happiness. This is all I want. This video makes me feel great.Wish I could to go back in time but all I can do now is to learn how to dance swing with my girlfriend to prepare for wedding:)

  • _3:15_ EPIC

    look at her smile... <3

  • Jean's still dancing strong years later, and is just as sassy as she ever was!! Super sweet too!

  • i'd love to see ginger grey with two boys!

  • it's Ginger Rogers!

  • Wrong. Marilyn Maxwell.

  • Wrong again. It's Jean Veloz.

    /watch?v=8HCybx4LyDs

A lot older but you can recognize some of her movement (especially her shoulders)

  • I meant the singer not the dancer. He calls her Ginger Grey so maybe that's who the singer is. She looks a lot like Marilyn Maxwell

  • I have to learn how to dance like that!

  • You know dancing like that could cause your blackberry to fall off your belt

  • hello saylorette!

  • I love the sound maan!!

I wish I could go back to that time!!

  • same here!

I would do anything go back to that time.

  • beautiful

  • I love it!!!!

  • Classic!

  • Fantastic song is cool :))

  • Jitterbug HEAVEN!!!!! I love this!!!

  • Fun to see this-Marilyn Maxwell was my cousin. I am trying to update her family line. Does anyone know what happened to her son Matthew Davis? Any information would be appreciated.

  • MARVELOUS

  • The music is awesome. But I just wanted to point out how cute her shoes are!

  • The movie "Swing Fever" featured the orchestra of Kay Kyser and the blond girl singer is Marilyn Maxwell. Kyser left the music business in 1950 and he and wife and three daughters moved to North Carolina where he devoted his time to the Christian Science church. Kay Kyser, born June 18, 1905, died of heart failure at his office on July 23, 1985. He was 80.

  • Marilyn maxwell? Gee, I woulda sworn that was Ginger Rogers...

  • beautiful, es todo un viaje en el tiempo

  • oh shit, actually good swing dancing on youtube! nice tunes too

  • Great..Love this old stuff! Much better then today's junk.

  • Oh that was great!!!!! Never seen it before.

  • The girl dancer is Jean Velose at the Hollywood Palladium in Oct of 2000 at Camp Hollywood. The Bill Elliott Orchestra played the song and 3 of the worlds top swing instructors did the dance and pulled Jean in towards the end..it was wonderful. I got the chance to meet her and she said that for this number as well as her dancing in Groovie Movie, she wasn't given any specific direction other than to just get out there and dance. She is a wonderful lady. It was an honor to meet her.

  • omg she is in Groovie Movie! i had never realised that!

wow, that would have been great to meet her. shes a fantastic dancer.

  • That was alot of fun!!!

  • the singer looks like ashlee simpson before she got her nose job.

  • Fabulosa

  • Damn! that was off the hook, fo reals!

  • love it !!

  • Olha de onde saiu o rock'n roll...

  • this is so great! i'd rather dance like this than "crank that soulja boy." argh.

  • Great stuff again..oldtimey. thanx

  • A couple of insights on this movie- It's original title was RIGHT ABOUT FACE, and Kyser dated Marilyn Maxwell for awhile until he got serious w/ KK band singer and cover girl Georgia Carroll. They married the next year. Go to kaykyserdotnet (sorry, no URLs allowed here)for everything Kyser.

  • One of my first favorite dance scenes.

  • i want to go back in time!

  • great stuff indeed!

  • The girl, the sailor, and the soldier in a torid three way...all G rated. The ending is amazing for 1944! Wonderful

  • LOL this looks kind for light version of break dance XD

But I looooooooooooove this kinda music

  • thats "west coast swing" dancing

  • If stuff like this dosnt put a smile on you´re face I dont know what would: ) Great song and nice style on the girls twist: )
