The 7 and 8 are actually in the "nana korobi ya oki" phrase - "nana" and "ya" are native Japanese readings for 7 and 8, respectively (as opposed to "shichi" and "hachi" which originate from Chinese). The word you're hearing in the other phrase is "ichinichi", which means "one day".
