@grecothegekko "I'm sure nafpliotis sounded nothing like psaltes at hagia sophia": WHAT PROOF do you have? THe RIGHT way is EXACTLY that, LIKE Iakovos. I believe he chanted JUST like in Hagia Sophia, and that a bunch of contemporary sissy singers think that THEY sound like "angels" of Constantinople. 3heart ans oul" business is GOOD ONCE one has MASTERED the BASIC techniques.
@GeorgiosMICHALAKIS That's fine that you believe that. I'm not going to get into some sort of psaltic musicological discussion because I don't have near the knowledge you seem to have. For the record, like you, I do believe there is significant amount of ignorance of psaltiki (esp here in the US). However, I still think you can afford not to use such harsh words when describing other psaltes. You have talent and knowledge, which should suffice in sending your message across.
@grecothegekko I once used to think like you (when I was "younger"). Now Irealise there is a TRUE war going on AGAINST ALL old cultures, ESPECIALLY GREEK (and even mor so as concerns its MUSIC). The GREATEST MUTATIONS occur, of course, in PSALTIKI. I NO longer have the "patience" to "tolerate" a bunch of wimps or fat balonies who go about MASSACRING my culture. Furthermore, I DON'T consider them as PSALTES who live up to their tiltes (often handed out by hierarchs).
