As a Tea Party member, I believe wealthy people should NOT be on Medicare, VA and Social Security. It should be strictly for the needy. I believe in a flat income tax rate for everyone and a national sales tax would be good so crooks and people paid in cash would pay taxes. Europe has national sales taxes as high at 16-20%. I hope America won't have to go to those extremes.
Thanks to liberal policies America can no longer afford to pay for medicare, social security, unemployment and many other services. We also need to lower the minimum wage to $2/hr in order to compete with China and bring jobs back home. Fiscally responsible conservatives like Paul Ryan and Michele Bachmann know this and are currently
working to end these wasteful handout programs and bring the minimum wage down so that America can be great again. God bless the GOP!
The RyanNoCare plan cuts the top individual and corporate tax rates. The price tag for the Republican proposal is a jaw-dropping $4.2 trillion. Working Americans would have to pick up the tab left unpaid by upper-income households. According to the Center for Tax Justice analysis, even though RyanNoCare features large aggregate tax cuts, ninety percent of Americans would actually pay higher taxes. It cuts middle class benefits and raises middle class taxes in order to cut taxes on the rich.
Ryans plan will give all folks the same opportunity as the members of congress presently have to choose their coverage and doctor have more personal control over healthcare choices. I'm 48 and I think it has the makings of a better alternative to what we have now that cant sustain itself and wont be there when I need it.
Ryan's plan would give billions more to the insurance companies via vouchers. And where does the money for those vouchers come from? You and me, that's who!

It's a shame to see all of the demogoguery being spewed out by the Democrats and Medi-scarring votes out of people. I can't believe people are still buying into Keynsian Economics and QE garbage. What seems to constantly be overlooked is the budget proposal serves 2 purposes: reforming and saving Medicare for upcoming generations instead of just passing on the problem AND creating competition in the health industry which will keep prices low and cause incentive for innovation aka ECONOMIC GROWTH
@DonPlumba245 Definitely sounds like you see that Medicare trajectory is a result of overall health care costs rising. American health care system is very opaque to economic analysis because of the high amount of subsidies and regulation all around. Competition is available in only a few areas. There has actually been an effort to keep hospital services from "duplicating" within defined regions, because of high cost of resources. This all points to the need for a national health system.
@prunar That is definitely not where the trajectory is coming from. The reason we are seeing this debt resulting in insolvent Medicare is because the money that is being put into it is being used up 3x more. The debt is coming from citizens consuming health care beyond our means along with double counting from the Obama admin. by taking money, specifically for Medicade, and dumping it into Medicare. This plan gets rid of regulations and clears up an unnecessarily opaque structure.
Health insurance companies are PREDATORS...YES..They watch MEDICARE pay BILLIONS of dollars each year and they WANT that money....If YOU and I don't put a stop to it the REPUBLICANS will DESTROY MEDICARE & funnel the BILLIONS to the insurance companies...MEDICARE & SOCIAL SECURITY must not be touched...Tell your FRIENDS FAMILY, CONGREGATION, CONGRESSMAN,..... While it is true that the real work happens in the House and Senate, but listening to this man assures us that he has a greater calling: PRESIDENT 2012
I love it how the LibDems get on here and squeal like the stuck pigs that they are.
What a pathetic and utterly cynical pile of hypocrites. The Dems have no plan but to maintain the status quo as it feeds their parasitic constituents, national bankruptcy be damned.
It's a seductive argument from Ryan until you investigate WHY Medicare trajectory is through the roof. It's all because of health care costs rising in general, and it's not the other way around. Do most people realize that Medicare has (until the 2008 recession) been met by payroll taxes, not digging into progressive income taxes? If we kept costs down we would not be having this discussion.
Health care costs are driving Medicare and Medicaid increases, not the other way around. The GOP will sell your soul before they cut into corporate profits. Spending $500 Billion on the new health law WILL HELP KEEP COSTS DOWN. In the US, we have consistently BSed about "rationing" so that we can pay for new med technology, at the expense of serving the health needs fairly & completely. The new law spreads the wealth and caps costs when the finally let it complete itself.
@prunar Fool. If you want to see Corporatism at its most cynical, go back and review all the pigs at the President's trough as ObamaCare was steamrolled through the House and Senate. And now those same Corporate pigs are clamoring for and receiving waivers so as not to have to live under that gigantic t*rd of legislation. Your beloved Democrats are the corporate (and union) @ss-kissers.
@donde2k You have no clue what health care is like for people with no insurance and I am sure you do not care. Affordable Health Care finally gets states offering insurance that those who are too sick to work can afford. It's not perfect, but it beats dying.
@prunar As a licensed health insurance broker, I know the reform law back & forth. It WILL NOT offer affordable insurance to anyone. There is virually NO cost containment features in the law. The whole thing is focused on accessibility to healthcare for everyone. Fine, that's great, but if insurance is too expensive for anyone to purchase what's the point of giving them access to an unobtainable product? It's unworkable in todays system and that's why states & company's are applying for waivers.
@spkngrmn The NHSs work well according to Canadians and Aussies I've asked. They ration according to triage, and not simply by denying an expensive treatment outright, hoping you die before you can appeal. Maybe you can set me straight if I am wrong, but I question the value of health insurance, a system bastardized from property indemnity. It is perverse in it's conception because the insurance companies have no incentive to deal with the people who need care the most. Message me.
@prunar Yeah that's nice for everyone in the short run but once Medicare is running on empty, doctors are going to start turning people away because the revenue they see from Medicare is menial compared to the cost of working. What's the point in having affordable health care if it doesn't buy you anything?
@DonPlumba245 Private insurance handles that by declining to pay for ordered tests and procedures until an appeal is heard to possibly reverse it. As I said, we have to cut costs. Among the elderly that may mean not using hugely expensive new technologies (the GOP calls this Death Panel when carried out by a public entity). GOP was also behind banning US buying drugs as a single entity to save $. Don't you know US pays twice what other countries pay? We have to ration, question is HOW?
@prunar See but under the House Plan, we break up corporate health care monopolies, which in this case is a government run monopoly of 15 undisputed bureaucrats--choosing our health care FOR US mind you. The GOP plan breaks this up by encouraging other firms to enter the market. Basic economics shows that competition drives prices down. In the case of health care, we will actually see some business' emerging and specializing in certain areas. This plan is EXACTLY how we ration.
@donde2k For those here who do not know, the WAIVERS are limits on total dispersals which may not top out at LESS THAN $750,000, and since it is an INTERIM MEASURE, it becomes moot after 2014. Another red herring from the party of voucher vultures, the GOP.
@prunar Yes, the waivers are temporary until 2014, but if the new law is so wonderful and lowers the cost of health care for everyone while giving access to insurance to anyone... why are waivers wanted or needed?? Why are over half the states in this country in court trying to have the law deemed unconstitutional? Companies should be upset they have to wait until 2014 for the plan to be fully implemented if it's the best thing since sliced bread.
@spkngrmn The new law phases out exclusions and limits, so it will make those who don't get insurance thru work or are too sick to work eligible for insurance even if they have pre-existing conditions. What good is insurance that is available only to healthy people? It brings in younger, healthier people to even out the groups, so that high risk pools don't exist to punish people for being ill. If "free market" health care worked to provide for everybody other countries would be doing it too.
A GREAT talk! Every Republican needs to learn this and talk it. Otherwise the Democrats will continue to do only one thing: distort the truth, called lies, and keep pushing Granny over the cliff!
As goes Ryan, so goes the Republican Party? It has become crystal clear that the only person who can effectively explain the Path to Prosperity - is the author himself. Any hope of overcoming Mediscare and avoiding losses in the next election cycle may boil down to a Presidential debate involving Ryan. He has already proven he can out perform the president - on multiple occasions. One man's opinion.
Health care has a supply and demand problem. Shortages created by our own government regulations(fewer drugs, doctors/nurses and hospitals) are forcing prices to go up. This is great for the people on the supply side but bad for consumers on the demand side.
I'd like to know who the guy on the upper right hand side is because as soon as Ryan said they were going to give us the same care that congress and federal workers get he started laughing. Yeah like we'd let the little people into our good ole boys network is what he's thinking. Those liberals in Congress need to step off and get real because they didn't like what we did last election watt until this election comes bye bye. Oh and if our healthcare goes so should yours.
