These new UCAV's are going to be the future. They can fly high risk missions with zero loss of life. Pull high G maneuvers that would kill human pilots. Remove a 180 pound pilot and add it as fuel or ordinance.
@HeildemKrieg hmmm all tech would come from other countries. You can't expect that all tech came from one country. Even the t 34, the all Soviet machine, has the suspension taken and upgraded from a US tank in the late 20's
Northrop Grumman's products r so cool. & besides looking cool, they also offer extraordinary performances. The X-47B is even more advanced than this 1. In my opinion, Northrop Grumman is the best aircraft designer in the US's defense industry. What they lack though is Lockheed Martin's political connections. Somehow, I doubt that the LM's Sabre Warrior will be good enough. It looks better while it's in the concept design, but when it gets the go ahead, then the problems start 2 appear. Just like
@StiviGun1 yeah it is to bad that the government droped the F/A 22 and the F35 is completely under powered they are trying to make it a jack of all trades that is why they are having so many damn problems and is going to be the main aircraft for the Army, Navy/Marines and the Air force and were selling them to foreign powers.as the old adage goes "Better to be a master of one trade then a jack of all."
@iceman27406 The biggest problem with the F-25 & the main reason why they're not canceling it ( I know Obama & Gates would like that) is that because 9 other allies r involved in the project. But they could deliver something else 2 the other 9 countries, like they did with the Brits when the Skybolt air launched ballistic missiles was canceled. They offered the Brits the Polaris missile instead. They could do the same with the F-35. In my opinion, US should focus its funds on what is the most
@iceman27406 advanced at: UCAV's. & drop the manned fighters programs completely. They did good by stopping the F-22's production, but they're doing bad 4 not stopping the money eater, the F-35. UCAVs r both cheaper & they offer superior performances, since they're not limited by the human factor. & the luck is that it just happens that the US is the most advanced in the world in this technology. Developing further aircraft with human pilot in them, is a waste of time & money, in my opinion.

im pretty sure the b2, winged design, was 1st drawn up by German, in late 30's. and everything else, just took us that much to catch up. with the computers,.. yes to correct the flight paths. constantly being corrected.. ohh that euro fighter is nice. ;_)
All modern planes are designed to be aerodynamically unstable, they are able to fly through computers correcting the plane constantly to force it to do as the pilot wishes. This may seen like a farce, but allows planes to be awkward shapes (like stealth planes) or ultra maneuvarable (like the euro fighter)
@neverfearchrisishere its only JS fighters that are designed that way to give them the best dog fighting capability the likes of the B2 and B1B are not designed to be unstable
@kirbyroxy firstly that's highly debatable. F16 simply doesn't compare, its a previous generation and low budget aircraft - whilst the F22 was designed with Stealth being the primary consideration, design is a comprimise, to be more stealthy you will move away from an optimally maneuvarable design.
secondly this has no bearing on my original point of planes being designed to be aerodynamically unstable.
@neverfearchrisishere i have seen the f22 and f16 bolth fly in an air show and i say f22 also at the pairas air show (the bigies the f22 always wins) and they have things called stabalisers theys days
What is less debatable is that maneuvarability is something of a moot point in modern air-air combat, the days of close range dogfights are long gone. Currently in action missiles are not the best the worlds military's can produce, but are still all to deadly at very long ranges. The future sadly lies in rather bland stealthy drones that are little more than a weapons platform with wings. Cheap, and noone minds if 2moros missiles can kill them easily.
@neverfearchrisishere fuck'em both, the F-22 was just to warm us up to a new idea for a true stealth fighter... the F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter

When America becomes the place where the world's brightest don't want to live and grow, contribute anymore, then we die. The .001 who invent what we see around us that is.
Remember the gains we made after WWII because German Scientist Von Braun, who designed out rocket program that got us to the moon and the best weapons of the world liked us. Einstein who had the clout to get the Manhattan Project underway with a single letter liked what we stood for.

I wish to just return to what U.S. calls "the reservation" and disappear from your government forever, but even there you people will be there to plague me. U.S. government.... FAIL. FRYBREAD POWER!!!
Well, considering the United States produces over 24% of the worlds wealth, it's currency is the backup for the world bank, more people come to it for freedoms and rights, and the fact that even with GM and Chrysler LLC in bankruptcy, it still has more manufacturing than China and Indonesia combined MAKES it better than everyone else. Not to mention the largest nuclear stockpile, and the worlds most succesfull army... So yes, the Us has a bolstered opinion of itself, however, it's correct...
I disagree. yes, all that shit you said is good, kudos to you. But what makes a country wealthy does not make it better than others when it comes to corruption, poverty, oppression, and all around disorder. In case you did not notice, the U.S. is in a deep recession, it murdered my people and others for hundreds of years, its in constant deepening debt, and puts people in prison for stupid shit. 30% of those locked up in this country are innocent, all for money. The US is not better, it is worse
A: yes, 30% of prisoners in the United States are innocent of hte crimes they are convicted for, but, it is a law trick to convict someone of another crime when you can not convince a Jury that they are guilty of the real crime. example: Al Capone was convicted of tax fraud, not murder.
B: The entire world is in a recession, not just the US and the US is getting out of it fastest.
C We are in debt because of our past presidents mistakes. Chances are that we wont pay it
Our current president piled on more debt in his first hundred days than any other president has in an 8 year term. Presidents don't make many mistakes because they are doing the will of the people who elected them.
It's very easy to leave the U.S. and renounce your citizenship. Why don't you go to Mexico and see how people in other countries live I'll be happy to give you instructions on how to accomplish that.
because #1 I am not Mexican. #2 I should not have to leave the land which was blessed to my people because the foreigners of the West came to ruin it. #3 this land rightfully belongs to my people as we belong to it. If anyone should leave, it should be the Westerners, the Europeans who came here from across the sea to forcefully take it and murder my people in doing so for their greed. That's why.
I never assumed you were Mexican. But before you continue to say bad things about this country you should visit other parts of the world and see how they live. Mexico is close so I suggested it. Pick any other country and go live there for a while...Perhaps you'll learn to appreciate how good you have it here...
LOL are you insane? how in the world do you know where i've been? look i'm not a statistic okay? when i say something i say it with the premise of having experienced it first. and i tell you this now, i'd sooner be in a third world nation than a subjugate of the U.S. and again I am not talking bad about this country, I am talking bad about its GOVERNMENT. If you'd paid any attention to what I'd said you'd've realized that. Quit being so presumptuous.
Then go to a third world country and check out their government....or China, Russia, or, or, or.....I don't like a lot of what our government does either but I have seen far worse in other countries.
What did i just say? I've seen the world from EVERY perspective. I have experience to back up what I say. And pray tell me, what government do you speak of? My people are a sovereign nation, we have no government. We rule ourselves in a traditional fashion. We have our elders for ADVICE, not rulership. If you can call us a government, then we are a council, not a government.
First, who is they? Second, they are thinking they will develop superior air power without putting humans at risk. With this technology America will still have superior air power with 0% chance of losing their most precious asset, their personel.
And I'm sure in a few years all whole bunch of other airplanes will be declassified.
The government isn't hiding UFOs and alien bodies. They are hiding cool, cutting-edge military equipment that they don't want other countries to know about.
its shape is very poorly designed for maneuverability and fuel efficiency, its got to maintain AOA and speed to maintain altitude this means higher fuel consumption and rapid energy loss, it can only function well in straight flight.
Er, maybe the speed and AoA are a function of the fact that a: The first flight of any prototype is conducted with the gear DOWN, and as a result, the IAS has to be kept low to avoid overspeeding the gear, and b: Because the speed is low, the AoA has to be increased significantly to provide the required lift. This bird was obviously designed for MUCH higher speeds, where it would be MUCH more efficient (and hence the AoA would be most probably in the very low single figures or low negatives)
that is a fair point. it is designed for better performance at higher speed, however my point, as it should have been, is that it is poorly designed for low speed handling. eventhough this is not what the aircraft is designed for, it should still be made for a lower minimum maneuvering speed just for safety reasons.
you dummy that plane pulled a wheelie took to the air and must have seen 10 G's of vertical lift.any pilot in there would have shitted his guts out his ass!
These new UCAV's are going to be the future. They can fly high risk missions with zero loss of life. Pull high G maneuvers that would kill human pilots. Remove a 180 pound pilot and add it as fuel or ordinance.

First, who is they? Second, they are thinking they will develop superior air power without putting humans at risk. With this technology America will still have superior air power with 0% chance of losing their most precious asset, their personel.

Do you really think 'they' believe their personnel are their most precious assets?
Puh-leez.
The most precious asset they have is their technology, and this little unmanned craft doesn't scratch the surface of what they're really hiding.

Fair enough. Ok, what are they really hiding from us?

If we knew, it wouldnt be hiding would it? ;)
Looking at the past, we have seen amazing projects, like the F-117, B-2, F-22, Blackbird, etc.

And I'm sure in a few years all whole bunch of other airplanes will be declassified.
The government isn't hiding UFOs and alien bodies. They are hiding cool, cutting-edge military equipment that they don't want other countries to know about.

ths is an awsome plane i like the shape =)
tarkinfish 3 years ago
its shape is very poorly designed for maneuverability and fuel efficiency, its got to maintain AOA and speed to maintain altitude this means higher fuel consumption and rapid energy loss, it can only function well in straight flight.
backpacktraceurs 3 years ago
it has extendable wings for maneuverability and first you have to get the god dam design flying before you think about efficiency.
EW0Canuk 3 years ago
Er, maybe the speed and AoA are a function of the fact that a: The first flight of any prototype is conducted with the gear DOWN, and as a result, the IAS has to be kept low to avoid overspeeding the gear, and b: Because the speed is low, the AoA has to be increased significantly to provide the required lift. This bird was obviously designed for MUCH higher speeds, where it would be MUCH more efficient (and hence the AoA would be most probably in the very low single figures or low negatives)
abagnalejr123 3 years ago
that is a fair point. it is designed for better performance at higher speed, however my point, as it should have been, is that it is poorly designed for low speed handling. eventhough this is not what the aircraft is designed for, it should still be made for a lower minimum maneuvering speed just for safety reasons.

you dummy that plane pulled a wheelie took to the air and must have seen 10 G's of vertical lift.any pilot in there would have shitted his guts out his ass!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
What a piece of crap...that damn thing nearly departed on take-off. Must be "fuel slosh".
