Its good to exercise your Rottie, but not on asphalt or concrete, you can cause irreputable harm to the pads on his feet. If I take my Rottie for a long walk, I take him to the park where he can walk in the grass. If I walk on a walking track, my Rottie walks beside the asphalt in the grass

I take my Great Dane for about 4 miles every week since she was fullgrown, now she is used to it and she is muscled wich you don't see very often with Great Dane's.

Ofcourse I started off pretty slow and shorter distances because they have to build it up.

Rottweilers are working dogs, so they are supposed to be fit. However, I would not reccommend running him on this type of surface for very long. If you watch Show dogs, you will see that they run on grass, which lessens the impact on their paws and joints. And they always have their handler running beside them.

I just love how smoothly your dog is trotting. See how his back stays level, and overall "collected." Rottweilers, as cattle drovers, were bred to be trotters.  As long as he is in good shape, he can keep up this trotting for quite a long distance. You might want to keep him off the pavement though. Let him trot on the grass so it's easier on his joints.
