yeh,,,it were little boy were the bomb,, flown in by a american pilot called paul tibbets, he felt the reaction 11 an a half miles up in the sky,, this were a war that had to be ended,, and firstly i must state that ,,, im truly sorry for the japanese civilians and soldiers that lost there familys in the action of the hiroshima bomb, but we must not forget all the other american and allied troops who also lost there lives to the war, the japanese had suicide pilots, who would fly into boats,,,
I'd always loved OMD's music during the 80's but did'nt get to see them live unti 1991 when they supported SimpleMinds at Gateshead and they stole the day, FANTASTIC
To be a total pedant, funicats was correct, it was the name of the plane, or, if you prefer the name of the pilots mother. In either case it wasn't the name of the Bomb
as a proud and strong synthesiser fan and player i strongly agree. the 80's was a time i wish i grew up in but unfortunatly i gotta grow up thru the shit 90's and 00's.
Shyte musicians in a technical sense but then they weren't about that.
I loved this song way back in the 80's and it still sounds really good. Just why does Andy Mcluskey have to alter the bassline to overload compared with the original !
how long would the war have continued if the bomb had not been dropped? this was a culture thatthought its emperor was a god you can't reason with that kind of mentality the dropping of the bombs saved millions of life's not just with ww2 but also with the cold war McCarthy wanted to drop the A bomb on Korea but it was not used due to the dropping of the bombs on japan but what other alternative did the president have i don't for a minuite think he took the decision lightly
What a glorious flashback to the video "Urgh! A Music War"! These guys were so greatly talented...great songwriting! I especially like that the drummer had NO cymbals -- just a hi-hat. Extremely rare, and the drumming sounds great.
@kleinejet well, the fact that they're named after the bomber that dropped the world's first atomic bomb on Hiroshima - have a think about "this kiss you give is never ever going to fade away"
Man, you are here too trying to spread your revisionist history. Fact is we used the bombs to end the war and save lives. Japan killed many more people than the US ever has, ask China and Korea if they thought the bombs were immoral.
Why reply to the video if you don't like it? And obviously this band is not horrible, for they have accomplished much more than what you seem to think.
....Me gusta mucho la canción, es un homenaje a Hiroshima...... :(

Homosexuality? lol
molonlave2010 3 years ago
Enola Gay was the name of the bomber (B-29) that dropped the first atomic bomb (on Hiroshima). The bomb's nickname was "Little Boy".
funicats 3 years ago 19
Yes your right it was a B-29 but the pilot named it after his mum.
PlaneTrainAmbulance 2 years ago
@funicats Completly right. The other one was B-29 "Bockscar", loaded with "Fat man"
