  • where do you get your music from?

  • @MrSurrias I learn everything by ear. So as long as I've heard and know a tune by heart, I can basically play it on the ocarina.

  • @subakuryu Nice, that's how I learn. I like learning songs in their original key, so the included songbooks don't work for me :p if it hasn't been asked already, what kind of ocarina and where is the tab?

  • @RemixEchidna Purple Clay Triple ocarina by TNG. It is most easily available through stlocarina. As for tabs, I have none. And don't believe I've seen any for it either. Why would ya need tabs if you learn by ear?

  • @subakuryu it would save me an hour of fiddling around XP also nice ocarina

  • I was wondering whats the difference of a single and triple (or double) ocarina?

  • @123goofyking a single usually has a max of 12 holes. While most doubles have 16 holes. And triples have 20 holes. single double triple refers to the number of chambers on that particular ocarina. the more holes the more notes you can play.

If you want more comprehensive information, you should sign up for octalk forums and look for more info there.

  • Why didn't you unplug the phone? it would have been cool if you showed us the unplugged end of the phone cable

  • @Icekler No idea. :P

  • It has happened to me... It's really annoying, saliva.

  • Whoa! I didn't even see this video until just now. Nice one.

  • This guy is obviously THE MAN and the ocarian!

  • My ocarina is on it's way

but will it take me forever to learn how to cover any Zelda theme I like ?

    please reply

    thanks

  • @DeenaAhmed669 it all depends on you. The ocarina is a fairly easy instrument to play. I learned to play it fairly quickly. But then again it all depends on you. If you've got the mindset to learn a piece, it shouldn't be all that difficult. Although I got to say that you've got to have enough musicality/talent in order to play any instrument.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, you've got to have some talent but a mindset to keep practicing will be what ultimately decides.

  • @subakuryu Thank you :)

I can't wait for it to arrive

and when it does I'll try to learn Zelda's theme, even if I fail I'll try over and over till I be like you C=

I'll tell you all about it :P

but can you like make a video showing some steps of the windwakers title

    cause it looks hard

    Thanks again :)

  • @DeenaAhmed669 I could arrange that. It is quite a difficult piece after all. Are you using a 12 hole I take it?

  • @subakuryu Yes I am.

I just got it today and learned Ocarina of time and epona's theme

I want at least some ocarina tablatures

but it's hard to find some

    but on STL ocarina

there is something that is kinda helping (not really)

do you have notes for this one ?

  • @subakuryu umm IM using a 12 hole that I got last week.

    Any tips? =)

  • Fun! I'm not so sure I would have added that phone sound effect, though... But no, I love you performances--it's clear you enjoy playing and I love how you get into the music and just have fun. Great work!

  • AMAZING as usual!

  • How long have you been playing? You are amazing.

  • Thanks! It's just a lil over a year now. Maybe a year and four months.

  • LOL dude chris is it? haha you go to my school..dude you're such a beast....

  • ha good job

  • You are very talented :)

  • Not to be nitpicky being that I don't even OWN an ocarina at ALL, but have you tried clenching your teeth & breathing thru your nose when you need a breath? Just trying to help a little; don't wanna run into a big gasp if you ever record. Also, as a curiosity, have you ever tried playing the ocarina by breathing IN through it? J/w if that would work at all.

Anyway, I still loved this. Great vid, and again, you're goin' places, dude. POAST MOAR VIDEEOZ, SOOBA!

  • Hey FD, if ya don't mind me callin ya that, lol. I could do that thing ya mentioned, it's just that that I believe that time I had a slightly stuffy nose. That and two other things: my nose is often not clear enough to lend me a sufficient quick breath(darn nose gold XD), and when I play music sometimes if it really moves me, my heart just goes beserk lol so that makes me need more breath than I usual, thus the gasping.

And for the second part, no you can't inhale to produce sound on an occy.

  • Very good. You have maded some changes, and it be better, very cool, but you still need calm down, and play in a open place. It can make your music be much better. I trust in your talent little boy, just need this two things and have a little more training.

Video Rated - 5 Stars (were 4 stars, but your good performance in the end...just great)

  • Thanks for the comment and rating! However, I find your comment slightly confusing.

In what way must I calm down and how would this help me?

Same question for playing in an open space. How will it make my music better?

And in terms of "little more training," what sort of music training are you talking about?

  • Sometimes you stop playing, and is that you get a little nervous when you breathe. I dont know if really is this what happen.

About open place - play the ocarina with some trees in backgroud.

    And training - forgot that.

  • stop playing? when? can ya tell me which times?

so ya mean just have a nicer background? If only I could get a better one without having to drive out of the city, haha!

  • I like this vid so much!

You demonstrated the right attitute and right way to play music!

    Bravo!!!

  • I like how you acted so naturally when you got interrupted while playing lol nice job done btw

  • Wow dude! Nice. better then me aha! I envy

  • wow! you rule dude!

  • Very nice, you need to practice it a bit, but its coming along really nicely.

Did you buy yourself a Purple Clay Triple now then? It looks nice, and I hope you like it. =)

I am ready to replace my WPN Double AC (Too airy on the high notes, subhole issues, and its only a double!), and I will fully learn Dragon Roost Island, once I get my Focalink Forte Triple. =)

  • I want a focalink too! :3 but for now I already have a FREE triple I got for being a finalist in that competition I entered, and it plays well for what I got it for, hehe. No really, I love it. But since I have a triple I'm trying to round out my collection at the moment. Getting myself a hind double, and plannin to get an STL compact double. After that I might try a focalink forte since it's got louder volume and will work out my lungs a lil hehe. :)

  • Wow, you got that free. =)

I was thinking about a compact double too. It would be interesting to learn a pendant.

I also need to replace my WPN Soprano C ocarina, after breaking it its never been the same again.

I have been meaning to do more "videos" (well audio, on the cheap mic), but my Sop C is out of tune(ish) and so it has put me off doing some of my next ones. Plus there is also the time issue.

  • awesome, nice use of alternate fingering, (using your little finger on your left hand too!) awesome!!!

    bravo!

    Dave

  • Beautiful!!

  • You look like a friend of mine in RL. Nice job (even w/bloopers)!

  • nice

    i thought it was "hylian"

  • Very nice!
