I know, this is probably wrong.

@tonton9598 Actually, if you listen carefully to the tapes that play during the game, Cave got cancer from the moon rocks used for the white gel. The reason he started GLaDOS was because he wanted himself to be installed into a machine, so he could live forever. However, I think he soon realized that either his condition wasn't going to allow him to last long enough before the project was finished or he changed his mind completely and decided to put Caroline in.

Just another thought, but GlaDos was going to kill Chell before she escaped with Wheatly. She had build robots, Chell was supposed to die at that point. After defeating Wheatly though, GlaDos let her go. Coincidence? I'm not sure.
Of course, it could be that it was just a very clever test subject Ratman found, but all the clues seem to saying otherwise.
This is better than the puppet one! And although I liked both this one and the Portal video that won, this one lets you concentrate on the music more, which always makes a music video better.

Hmm, very nice, I liked the digital art work quite a bit, my only issue with this really is some of the animation is too jumpy, as well as some of the fades, if they had been smoothed, more frames added to the animations, then this would of gone from good to great for me. :)

@maxtherulerrobloxian seriously, valve called this PORTAL 2 MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST, and even the tag was PORTAL2NATIONALEXILE, and yet the puppet guy did not even mention / show something closely related to portal or portal 2, I honestly cannot careless if my video won or not, but seriously? He did an amateur vid and this guy is in his 20s and I'm 15 and i still made a better vid, I think Valve just never even looked at the "pro" videos. Which makes sense, crappy music video for a crappy song.
@SydneySkittlez last time I checked, this was a music video contest held by Valve (makers of Portal & Portal 2) not The National, and because of that fact... Valve had a panel of people be the judge of this video contest, while The National just wanted to give a prize, so that means they are the sponsors. And two if the creators of the game held the contest, it just makes enough sense to make a music video connecting to the product, which in this case is the Portal series.
@SydneySkittlez I never mention anyone being wrong or right but actually you are wrong for saying that The National chose the winner BTW besides 100+ people agree with me because even on iTunes the album the song is from is labeled "Exile Vilify (from the game PORTAL 2)" and since Valve hosted this competition 110+ people did a video either on Portal/ Portal2 or did a video that referred to/ or hinted to Portal or Portal2 so now end of discussion -ps it's chose not choose on that first reply
This is awesome! I love the parallelism shown between Doug and Chell, and I love the "blue-orange" thing with their faces at the end. It makes sense because Chell is darker with blue eyes while Doug is white with brown eyes.
The only thing is, why does Doug have a chest wound? The way it's drawn looks like he has a boob hanging out of his shirt, and in the comic he was shot in the leg not the chest.

He gave up the companion cube. which he cared for. He gave it away to Chell whom was a random who was in the right place at the right time. Rattman saved chell from glados. he put her in cryo-sleep against the odds he risked his life. Then he got shot in the leg. bleeding out accross the center. But still helping Chell to freedom. Who says chell isn't asleep? For all we know the center and GlaDOS could have been a dream. Rattman could even be her husband.
@jokiu4 If you think about it, they may actually be Related. In the soundtrack of Portal 2, the track "Schizophrenia" has several of Rattmann's Schizophrenic ramblings, and in it, you can hear him, possibly, say "Uncle Johnson". This might be Cave. Now, Doug's last name is Rattmann, but Cave's may have been as well, but "Cave Rattmann" is sort of.. an awkward name, so he changed it to something more sciency. And, we all know the possibility that Chell is Caroline and Cave's Daughter. 'Nuff said.
@jokiu4 They might be. At the part of the game with all the science fair projects,if you look at the mutant potato project (last project) it says "By Chell". If you look even closer it says "Ingredients from Dad's work." That means her dad worked at the lab. If Rattman was Chell's dad that would explain why he chose her as the next test subject. Also, it would explain why he helped her and went back for her. This is just a theory it makes sense but might not be true.

@TheMythtern5 Because valve is a bunch of comedians and they never said exactly what type of video they wanted. I guess they were looking for that kind of thing i didn't think it fit the song i mean my video isn't that great but i think it was better then that sock puppet.

@TheKirbyAyume did anyone take into account that in portal 2 Glados goes up to the surface and sees living people? That means there is some sort of civilization out there, or it's broken as you said. People wouldn't be far from where Chell left.

@ItsAngryPotatoTime She doesn't. She said that she saw a Deer, not humans. it also makes me wonder if any humans (except the ones at the end of coop) exist. If everyone is dead, which would explain animals, clear sky and vegetation, then Chell will either go back to Aperture Science, or she will wander around and eventually will go crazy and die.

He gave up the companion cube. which he cared for. He gave it away to Chell whom was a random who was in the right place at the right time. Rattman saved chell from glados. he put her in cryo-sleep against the odds he risked his life. Then he got shot in the leg. bleeding out accross the center. But still helping Chell to freedom. Who says chell isn't asleep? For all we know the center and GlaDOS could have been a dream. Rattman could even be her husband.

@jokiu4 If you think about it, they may actually be Related. In the soundtrack of Portal 2, the track "Schizophrenia" has several of Rattmann's Schizophrenic ramblings, and in it, you can hear him, possibly, say "Uncle Johnson". This might be Cave. Now, Doug's last name is Rattmann, but Cave's may have been as well, but "Cave Rattmann" is sort of.. an awkward name, so he changed it to something more sciency. And, we all know the possibility that Chell is Caroline and Cave's Daughter. 'Nuff said.

@jokiu4 They might be. At the part of the game with all the science fair projects,if you look at the mutant potato project (last project) it says "By Chell". If you look even closer it says "Ingredients from Dad's work." That means her dad worked at the lab. If Rattman was Chell's dad that would explain why he chose her as the next test subject. Also, it would explain why he helped her and went back for her. This is just a theory it makes sense but might not be true.
