  • bravo. really good hs choir. our friend here in the sf bay area, george hernandez did this arrangement. I don't know though if the descant is written. you go guys.

  • Thank you. Yeah, it's a George Hernandez arrangement.

Visited your site-you have a very beautiful voice!

  • i hope they understand what they sing...... hahaha..... im a filipino....

  • it was already translated by the girl before they sung it...

  • amazing!! ^__^ i'm from the visayan region so i grew up listening to these folk songs.. i really love it when foreigners are able to appreciate my beloved filipino culture!!

  • ayos jd kau b!

as i look closely among the choir members, i observed that not all are really caucasians! i've seen a bunch of other asians in there. even the narrator-translator at the beginning is surely of an asian descent (japanese perhaps). what i'm proud of is that other asians singing anothers asian's folk song. TRULY AMAZING! MABUHI KITANG TANAN!

  • That was great!!! hats off to everybody and specially the choir director!

  • Wow. I was comparing different versions of this song here in youtube. Your version definitely sounds the most natural sounding (visayan) of all. Congrats to all of you and your conductor. If I were there I would certainly give an standing ovation.

  • well done!!

  • Awesome!

  • this is great, a very famous visayan song, kudos folks!

  • Hats off to all of you! Superb singing!! The conductress really feels the song... she rocks!!

  • you totally gave justice to my native tounge. i just hope we do this in texas. :)

  • Very impressive! Gimingaw na hinuon ko sa amo. Am now based in new jersey.

  • it gave me goose bumps hearing this classsical Visayan love song rendered by a foreign choir. I should be I AM A PURE BLOODIED CEBUANO!

  • Wow, that was fun! I am speechless, you did a very good job. I thought it was livelier than the Madrigal singers.

  • OMG You guys are AMAZING! Thank you for singing ROSAS PANDAN. As a child growing up in the Philippines, my grandmother always sing this song to us. It brings back old memories. You delivered the song beautifully and perfectly.

  • Really good. Considering their number and their being Americans, I can't expect anything else. Though they still can't get rid of their aspirated T's for this one.

    Tigidong Tigidong Tigidong!!!

  • Probably among the best rendition I heard in YouTube! Just on the language perspective, normally in Cebuano/Visayan language the letter "T" is not pronounced with 'th" or 'ch' sound. Therefore TIgadong-TIgadong should be TEE-gadong and not CHEE-gadong. Anyhow, forget everything I said. You guys are AMAZING!

  • Good job guys! Well done. I enjoyed it very much.

  • superb. congrats guys! =)

  • Rosas Pandan LYRICS

    ani-a si Rosas Pandan

    gikan pa intawon sa kabukiran

    kaninyo'y makiguban-uban

    ning gisaulog ninyong kalingawan

balitaw da'y akong puhunan maoy kabilin sa akong ginikanan

awit nga labing karaan nga garbo sa atong kabukiran

  • great performance !!!!

  • wow, i'm impressed. your rendition is almost perfect. i should know because i'm a native visayan speaker.

  • wow, i'm impressed. your rendition is almost perfect. i should know because i'm a native visayan speaker.

  • we used to sing this at school.

    ehehe,.

i like the way you sinG.

    ..nyc accent..

  • Great Visayan accent. I'm a native Visayan speaker. I love your rendition.

  • they still have the american accent as they sing a this filipino folk song but still they did it very well..you guys impressed me..

  • This is unbelievably superb coming from a group of high school students. I love the raw energy, intensity, vivaciousness and conviction of the choir's voices in interpreting this piece. Kudos to its choir director for doing a fantastic job. For me, this is probably my favourite performance by a group based outside the Philippines, and I have pretty much seen all the other ones posted in youtube. 5 stars.

  • wooot that was really goood. =]

is that why rosanna was called "rosas pandan"? lol.

  • Yes.

  • yea man our school kicks ass

  • this is really really great!!! i wonder how did they get a piece of this filipino folk song... you guys have a nice job. two thumbs up for your trainer... can't wait to hear another filipino folk song from you guys.

  • wow tigidong!!! wahahaha! now i love you guys!!! ganda ng tigidong nio! mabuti hindi 'yung scandal version ng tigidong ginawa nio... hahaha!

  • i wonder how long it took for them to learn the right diction of the language..they're pretty good!

listening to this..can't help but be proud of the cebuanos...for your song to be sung by others..it's really flattering..and something..something awesome!

  • Inemphasize pa rin nila ang "t" at tsaka "tan-aw" hindi "tanaw"..

    it's still good...

  • the piece is kind of slow. i really admire the conductor. she looks very effective!!!

  • wow...the diction is good as well the and conductor!!!

  • OMG!!! Awesome!!!!

  • nice one..we also sang this song during a music festival here in the philippines..

  • I thought they were Visayans! That was the correct accent! 5 stars.

  • I thought they are all filipino, hahahahaha, you got the right accent. Perfect cebuano dialect!

  • Bravo. Excellent. Ang galing!

  • Philippine Madrigal Singers' rendition of this song is still the best, why... because they are the only choir around the world who was awarded the European Grand Prix for two times...

  • You're comparing this high school choir to a professionally trained adult group choir? The high school choir must be really that good for you to compare it to Madrigal Singers.

Don't get me wrong; I am proud of the Madrigal Singers as well.

  • this group has a much livelier and crisp tone than the madrigal singers which sounds dry and ordinary.

  • @kidmalate ... And not only that these guys singing of none their native tongue. why compare them to Philippine Madrigal singers? But still im happy and proud of them they sung it well, in fairness the tiempo of TIGADONG TIGADONG TIGADONG.. TIGIDING TIGIDING TIGIDING.. Fantastic ! ( at this time their facial expressions as if teasing DODONG, who watched INDAY dancing " nagtabisay ang laway " meaning his siliva getting out from his mouth " I love the performance ! Congratulatons !

  • im so proud upon hearing our very own cebuano song sang by foreign choir. thanks to you guys!

  • Good job. The choir sounds great. I think the only thing missing is at certain parts, power is lacking and modulation needs a little improvement. It also sounds a bit like the group isn't feeling the song. They're singing, but not feeling it. That's just me though, I could be wrong, cuz I'm comparing their sound to the Himig Singers which I consider the benchmark for this song. Good job nontheless. Congratulations and keep it up!

  • lol I like watching the conductor. She's so into it. hehe.

  • LOL. ANOTHER foreign choir singing "Rosas Pandan"? How cute! You guys seem to really like our song.

  • So I looked all over YouTube for another choir singing this song, and i heard about 15 of them.

I can assure you that yall are the best i've heard.

    Beautiful.

  • I'm glad you like it. I'll certainly pass along your kind words to the choir and its director. Thanks!
