I find the its best to have a weak ally in play at all times. Their cheap and if destroyed only cost one resource to replace. This way none of your heroes take damage.
Hello from Poland. Thanks for great series, i am fan since Mansion of Madness.
As for a right move for the combat phase, i agree with the others: exhaust Legolas and defend with the spearmen, that is what he is for after all. Next turn this nasty spider will be killed anyway and with nice progress on quest thanks to brave Legolas.
Exhaust the spear-man undefended and place the damage on Gandolf .... if that's possible .... if not possible then defend .... and you also forgot the response ability of the location ....
@AlexanderTF on defense there's two options Legales takes the damage or we play it safe with the hero's and sacrifice the spear-man in this fight ....
@AlexanderTF In this case the response on the Forest Gate goes into effect when he travels to it, not when he completes it. He actually does draw the two cards when he travels to it.
Also, Gandalf is not a hero, and if you leave the spider undefended you have to put the damage on a hero. Gandalf is an ally, so he could defend, except that he is already exhausted. It'd be nice though!
Mistake: Your phone isn't plugged in to the base (which isn't plugged into the wall, either) when you talk to MathMethMan. Something suspicious is going on here...
Yep, only one real way to do this. Exhaust Legolas, and sacrifice the spearman. We've got to prevent as much damage on the heroes as we can. A quick search yielded that there is no way for us to heal the damage on our heros. Only radagast is available to a tactics deck for healing, and he's in an adventure pack.
@TWKify Watchitplayed uses tech the rest of the world hasn't seen yet, so the confusion is understandable. How do you think these videos keep coming so often?
As for which strategy to follow, I agree with the others. Exhaust Legolas and defend with the Spearman. In your turn play a Veteran Axehand and keep one resource for Quick Strike.
Definitely exhaust Legolas, then use the Gondorian Spearman to defend. He's an ally and they are meant to be pawns anyway. And dungeon666666 is right. You have the Veteran Axehands handy. No pun intended.
@WatchItPlayed :/ undefended damage must be assigned to heroes....I agree with what one angry elf once said....exhaust legolas and sacrifice the spearman.....excellent call on the progress spillover...I had no idea that excess tokens would go to the quest from the active location....I've been playing it wrong, and thanks to watch it played I have a new strategy.
@VonVeederVeld Darn it, I knew that! I had forgotten that Gandalf was exhausted... lol, as I said, I read this while driving and not in front of my table and should have taken the time to think that through. Especially, since I made that rule clear in the video *slaps head* I might need to take a day off making videos and get some sleep! :)
Not much choice. Exhaust Legolas and defend with Gondorian Spearman(there are 2 more of him in the deck ;)). Besides you now have Veteran Axehands you can play! Next turn can be easy kill for Legolas and get those 3 Progress tokens.
exhaust Legolas and defend with your ally. sacrificing him will not be that terrible because you can bring one of your other allies (on of your slothfully dwarves) in play next turn.
best regards from germany and thx for enunciation + gags

@rasmussendi Good strategy tip!

One thing I should tell you - I don't think you wish to travel so much - after all 2 more threat vs 4 more needed progress tokens sounds good to me.

As everyone said, exhaust Leggy and defend with the Spearman.
Pretty smooth with the hatred tactics deck so far :P

@Erni1313 I know - I fear it's all about to go downhill at any moment, but maybe not!

I say send the Gondorian Spearman to defend! You have allies in hand to recoup next turn. Great Series!

Rodney, I wanted to ask for some time, but I always forgot. How long does it take you to edit and prepare an episode?

Hey again :)
I would just block with the gondorian Spearman so the spider gets one more damage.
Next turn I would use the event which stops all attacks. So if another enemy is comin, engage him. Now we can choose which enemy Legolas can kill.
...ah and for questing, send the 2 dwarves again.
H4msterbacke 5 months ago
My move would be to tab Legolas and take the attack with the Spearman will damage the Spider but will die heroic.
Next turn i will keep in mind the swift attack card to finish of the Spider

If Thalin now has a max of 8 hp, and 3 damage on him - wouldn't that mean he can take 5 points of damage, not 4?
IronSyndicate 5 months ago
@IronSyndicate Once he takes that 5th point of damage, he will have 0 hit points, and be dead, so effectively, he can only take 4.

Gandalf leave play at the end of this round. Can you not assign 3 damages to Gandalf if no one defends? That way Legolas can attack the spider.

@WatchItPlayed Unfortunately, the damage must be assigned to a hero, not just a character. (page 18, section 4, paragraph 2)

@abrannan Yeah, I saw that, see my comment to VonVeederVeld. I got excited before thinking it through :(
