Why not keep your molds closer to your heat... say place a couple bricks next to your heat? The molds themselves will be hot and you have less distance to go. Perhaps it is it too hot for you near your furnace?

Charcoal *can* get that hot, but it burns very fast. I burn coal. It burns hotter and longer than charcoal.
