  • people only know him because he is wayne's bro...

  • And now Orlando City Soccer Club got him.

  • looks like training with thierry henry hurt his career (lol)

  • youtube can make anyone look like a top striker

  • Have the goalkeeper the Nr 6? 0.o

  • Quit talking about his time at Macclesfield. It was probably just a bad period for him and he didn't perform for whatever reason. And plus, he can't improve as a player?

  • Nice Football ...!!!

  • He sucks, all hype, I dont think he's ever played a game for NYRB, and most people, even fans of NYRB don't even know he plays for the team.

  • @dara786 He's been in 4 league games and pretty sure that most NYRB fan's are aware of his existence. Its kinda hard to not notice that Wayne Rooney's little brother is on your team.

You're just saying that without any knowledge of him. How can he suck and be all hype if you didn't even know that he's played in 4 league games and in 1 Open Cup game in which he got his first goal as a Red Bull.

I know all of this and I'm a SKC fan, not NY. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

  • @RenegadeReplicant I'm from Macclesfield, UK, that's where John Rooney's contract expired because he wasn't good enough for our reserve team, let alone our first team. I have been to nearly every home game for the past 5 years and I can tell you that he isn't up to scratch as a player, and if he wasn't good enough for us to hold on to for the future, then I doubt he is good enough for NYRB. Either that, or the quality of the MLS is below the lowest tier of professional English football.

  • get it rooney!!!!

  • stop talking shit about the kid and just wait till the season start and see him play then if he sucks keep talking shit if he is good then STFU

  • League 2 to MLS isn't a huge step up at all. He was a reserve team player most of the time he was at Macclesfield.

  • seriously, I would two foot that fat fuck......he's gonna flop, aint his bro.

  • @birdieOpp Yeah he's going to flop. . . coming from a yank who probably wouldn't make it in the USL let alone MLS.

If you can't do better, it's best not to criticise.

  • @sXeLodge do you and John have a thing for eachother.....its called the eyeball test.

  • @sXeLodge So I guess 4 goals and 2 assists in two years of footbal, and only started 1/4 of the matches played.......yeah dude he's gonna do big things in MLS......I love how you try and talk shit, and call me a yank, you faggot. I've got more talent in my fucking big toe than you got in your entire body.

  • @birdieOpp lol listen to you, trying to chat shit.

I shit on you, I'm a fully qualified coach, and have learned from the top coaches in England. What have you ever done? Sat in the stands and criticised the very players you pay to watch. LOL, nice one.

  • @sXeLodge I know this ain't my fight any more, but you ain't a qualified coach. It's obvious you're about 14. Have you done your homework? This is a school night.

Cue barrage of swear words. Anyway, I'm ducking out. Take it easy tough guy.

  • @heals I'm not a coach. . . except for the fact that I've spent the last 6 years of my life becoming a fully qualified UEFA A Badge carrying coach. So yes, I actually am a coach.

"I'm ducking out" basically means, "I can't hack being made to look dopey, so I'm running away"

Seems birdieOpp has done the same. . .

Good luck to Macclesfield for the rest of this season. You'll need it. . . .

  • @sXeLodge well for you info i've played for elite youth programs here in the states, and division 1 collegiately. I have played with and against numerous pro players along the way. So coupled with 26yrs of playing experience I think I am allowed to critique any player I want. I don't need some English elitist, who thinks their shit doesn't stink, talking down to me. I've seen plenty of English lads, and other Euro players come over here and think they are gonna produce magic and fail.

  • @birdieOpp I hope other people can see the irony of that comment.

"I don't need some English elitist" - yet you criticise him because you have so much experience you feel you are allowed to.

And have you made MLS appearances? Played for an MLS team? Cause if not, by saying he is shit, you are actually saying you are shit, cause he is playing at a level you failed to get to.

    So really, you're insulting yourself.

That said, you're a yank, so let me know when you make sense of that comment.

  • @sXeLodge well I didn't see you post your resume, what appearances have you made in MLS? I think the irony is that you feel your opinion of his talent is spot on because you're a "qualified coach, who has learned from the top coaches in England", plus that fact that I am a yank, I shouldn't be entitled to an opinion of talent about a player right?lol. So I stick to my guns, League Two = MLS in talent pool. John Rooney didn't do shit in League Two. Its pretty simple logic really yeah?

  • @birdieOpp Well I've worked for clubs bigger than New York, and worked at a higher level than the MLS.

You're entitled to your opinion, but to criticise somebody who is better than you, is just ridiculous. I mean, if John criticised Wayne for being "shit" you would say he is the dumb one for criticising somebody better than him. . . which is what you're doing.

You can have your opinion, but you do look retarded judging those playing higher than you.

  • @sXeLodge LMAO..first of all I never said I was better than him, so thanks for putting words in my mouth. Much respect for ya boss, but all I am saying is that this is a bad decision by NYRB, the return on investment isn't there. But hell, they will sell some jerseys with "Rooney" on the back, and it will be a media frenzy..Hope he can handle the New York media.

  • @birdieOpp lmao, handle the new york media? Have you ever heard him talk? They'll have to bring in a fucking translator lol.

You never know, he may improve. The experience could change his style, his fitness, his approach to the game. So he may well make vast improvements in the future. I agree that league 2 to MLS, is a big step up, so hopefully the new facilities and style of play with improve. Only time will tell on that one,,

  • @sXeLodge alright, agree to disagree then, we sound like a bunch of homos arguing about this. We will need to touch base in about 3 or 4 months and see who was correct.

  • yes yes yes

  • I'm a Macclesfield Town fan (the only professional club that John Rooney has ever played for), and I can quite honestly say, he is a shit footballer.

Lazy, fat, weak, slow. 3 goals in 45 appearances when you're paid to score is an embarrassing return. It ain't personal, I'm just stating the facts.

If his name wasn't Rooney, he'd be unemployed right now. Poor signing for New York. Mark my words he will disappoint.

  • @heals Nothing to do with the fact that Macclesfield are shit then?

Plus the fact he is a midfield player not a forward, so you clearly know jack shit. I would ask if you had a disability, but you already said you were a Macclesfield fan, so I already know the answer. . .

  • @sXeLodge Dont' even start you plonker...He was out of his depth in league 2. Macc might be shit but so are the teams we play against. Any half decent player should run the show. He started out as a forward but was moved into midfield when it became obvious he was too weak to compete against the big centrehalves at that level. Even in midfield he was used in an attacking role behind the striker. So he was a forward, albeit one who didn't score or create goals.

  • @heals out of his depth, he was one of your best players. He made your team look decent, he was the only talent you had. Other than that you were fucking shit.

and LMAO @ "plonker" wow, thats real trash talk.

  • @sXeLodge Are you his dad?

  • @heals No, but I don't think you can criticise if you can't do better yourself. Probably best to just not say anything at all.

Plus, when he makes it big, you're going to look retarded. . . . even more retarded than you look now!!!

  • @sXeLodge Yeah you're right. After all he has made a pretty good start to his MLS career (2 sub appearances, one missed penalty)....

In all honesty, I'm not holding my breath but I would like to be proved wrong about him. Good luck John lad.

  • NY has him

  • He's from the streets of liverpool so don't fuck with him. He's a quality boxer aswell

  • John>Waynne XD

  • RBNY!!!!!!!!!! So excited to see him develop in New York.

  • Red Bulls got him! :)

  • MLS it's OK to me.

  • why is everybody so hyped up thats one shot come down ,deomartinez77, and others. most people who go to the MLS aren't that good, but he will be under Thierry Henry so he may became a good player.

  • @perrifamilyof6 LA needed a person that could play his position so that Landon could move out of the midfield. They got someone now but he probably won't become as famous as this kid will more than likely turn out to be. And there are more quality players in the MLS then most people realize don't sell the league soo short.

  • 20 years old already = meh

  • @elambert302 Can people stop comparing him to Wayne. He's his own person, and will develop into his own type of player. Who knows, maybe he does really well and becomes a good player after all. But to constantly compare him to Wayne is just no good. Yeah he's 20 years old and is meh... so is basically every player that comes out of the draft. He sounds incredibly motivated to get his career going in the USA, and I think he can do that.

  • Sorry I'm not a big soccer fan but does the EPL, or other major leagues in the world have drafts like the MLS?

  • @agumon51 no, it could never work outside of the us because the collegiate system doesnt exist and every team's got their own academy to nature talent

  • ROONEY!

  • he's no Wayne

  • He will get signed beacause of the publicity hes getting by just being Waynes lil bro.

  • @bigfrozy lmao, another yank who doesn't have a clue. Houston Dynamo. . . Nice guess work there douche!

  • Im pretty sure he had like a week trial with the sounders, he didnt make it obviously.

  • @hellchild5 The reason he is in the combine is because of the interest he generated on trial with mls teams like the sounders

  • @Tvpolo9 Well i just have a feeling hes really bad. He used to play for a league 2 team in the english championship, hardly scored, and got cut not that long ago. A fan of the team who had seen him play several times said he bad he was. But i could be wrong, idk.

  • @hellchild5 Ya he's definitely not a for sure thing at this stage

  • he should go to NY

  • Tfc, you know what you need to do

  • please vancouver pick him.

  • is he related to wayne rooney

  • @LynchAustin yeah he's Wayne's little brother

  • @ChefDizzyDae thanks for telling me :)

  • Toronto FC needs more strikers. John Rooney looks like a viable option. Hopefully, he's creative and fast.

  • @GoTFCanada1230 no canada sucks....jk jk im from vancouver

  • @GoTFCanada1230 He's not that fast, but creative. He's more of a center midfield player than a striker, but he can play there.

He would make a good play maker

  • LA must sign this kid immediately.

  • @deomartinez77 ....why? what was so miraculous about that goal?

  • @Darthpryme Yeah exactly , if you read some of the comments they would have you believe this kid is the new Messi.

    Lol.

  • @Darthpryme LA needs anyone that can score a goal on their team. They lost Buddle and Angel hasn't signed with them yet either. All they have is Landon Donovan and he will need all the help he can get because he sure won't be getting it from Mike Magee, Jovan Kirovski and Bryan Jordan. If Rooney (whether he is Wayne's brother or not) can score goals, LA needs to get on it and sign him if they haven't done so in secret already.

  • @deomartinez77 looks like NY red bulls got him. i was hoping for LA, but training with thierry henry everyday wont hurt his career. lol

  • @cupolove1

Can you comfirm it because I heard on a Soccer blog this morning that Portland was going to sign him.

  • @ChampCarforlife yeah, i saw the draft video and NY definitely drafted him. he did train with portland last fall though. unless NY trades his rights, im pretty sure he will be playing for the red bulls.

  • @cupolove1 No, just playing in that league will. He was better off in Npower League 2...

  • @anastasia60559 i would have agreed with you a few years back, but honestly MOST league 2 teams could not compete in mls at all. i know america doesnt have a long tradition of football, but mls has improved really fast over the last few years. its much closer to league 1 or championship level. and easily on par with any other 2nd division european league for that matter

  • @deomartinez77 i think NY already signed him

  • @chicanocalifas yep that they did indeed

  • good goal!

  • he's got a lil' wayne in him (no pun intended).
