  • who arranged this music? is it godowsky?

  • @mytownsanbon

    Hamelin.

  • A new Feux Follets for our era

  • Brilliant!! I had the chance to meet Hamelin in the flesh...most down to earth guy....seemed almost oblivious to his own fame and genius.

  • you can find free piano sheet music @ sheetsearch . com

  • Is it just me or there more than just a passing harmonic reference to a passage in Liszt's Transcendental Etude number 2 in A minor (namely the harmony of the rising theme after the initial descent)?

  • INSANE!

  • @MagicDolphinGO I think he uses some whole tone scale or some minor transposition or something like that...

  • @ChopinLiszt82 He's using a lot more than that dude

  • was there some system he used to rewrite this?

  • Holy crap...hahahah

  • That's black.

  • Non è di questo pianeta!!!!

  • CRAZYYYYYY!!!!

  • crazy. Interesting.

  • pointless

  • @v4liumfrance HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

What is the point of music my friend? What's the point of art?

  • @Diffomega

    ruining a piece.

  • @v4liumfrance Sorry, wrong answer!

  • @v4liumfrance so the whole point of making art since the start of making was always ruining a piece? I can't see any sense there.

  • @Diffomega Me neither.

  • @Diffomega Neither do I

  • @v4liumfrance Therefore your argument is incorrect my friend.

  • WTF? is this really playable? :D

  • @jorpianist

Ah sorry, I was referring to the op.7 no.4 etude - it's the only Stravinsky etude I currently know, though :)

  • 1:21 Stravinsky reference :)

  • I like how the chord before the final one sounds so weak ^^

  • dude, WTF are you serious Hamelin...REALLY...?

  • Sounds like a cross between the chopin etude and Scarbo

  • This is my first time hearing this version of the "Black Keys" etude. This is awesome!!!!!

  • it sux, listen the original version omg

  • che genialità!!!!!!

  • beautifully controlled lightness of touch (as usual from Hamelin) in a devilishly difficult piece. I am currently learning his Prelude and Fugue and christ is it hard...

  • This piece is totally nuts! But great! I would never recognize the homage if it weren't for the title though.

  • Chopin's marvelous etude was perverted...

  • Comment removed

  • Calm down man, its just an adjective I used to describe the evolution of the sound from that of a romantic o a more modern rendition. Not too say this version is worse-it's equally genuis.

  • In addition, this isn't even Godowsky, its Hamelin's study on this particulary etude-I've checked all 6 of Godowsky versions and none of them match this piece-this is Hamelin's original formulated note system applied to Chopin's etude-NOT Godowsky.

  • oops, my bad :D

  • Does that key signature say "2 / 6"?

  • 12 / 16

  • Thank you!

  • @MultiFailBot And it's called a time signature ;)

  • I truly believe that Hamelin owes us all an explanation of how he does this stuff. It's like he's a circus act!

  • I think people were saying the same exact thing about Cziffra when he was still alive.

  • Despite the living legend of our classical era by this wonderful and awesomely gorgeous almost more than a freaking genius, kind of don't understand this melody of this one. Oh well, it's still just a merely practice piece, what should I expect too much for interpretation, as long as it's on the black keys exclusively...

  • i have no words.

  • Chopin occasionally composed during periods of temporary insanity as proven here. My God, man, how in hell do you do it??????????

  • Chopin on crack! I love it. It's probably way more challenging to play than the original it's based on. Bravo!

  • He played this at a recital in Melbourne, which took place in October 2009. I remember I just couldn't help giggling the whole way through! It was absolutely brilliant and creative to the max!

  • wtf!!!???

  • geniale,great composer too!!!!!!

  • what the hell lol

  • How do you play consecutive 2nd's so fast?

  • maybe you move your fingers halfway between the keys lol

  • Dang!

  • It sounds a bit like Gnomenreigen.

  • A bright, joyous little etude transformed into an eerie, frantically shimmering little piece ... very interesting.

  • LOL :)

    Thank you ^^
