It looks clean as hell and is essentially stock other than a full exhaust system of the highest possible quality (I'd say easily $2500 in exhaust alone) and the previous generation S2000's engine control unit.

You might wanna check on that...look at the 00-06 Honda Insight. The manuals are rated at 64city and 68highway...The last time I checked, even the 3 cyl metro only got 52 on the highway, and even my CVT (auto) Insight rated at 57 city and 58 highway has gotten 67.2 and that's over 750 mile trip in the city. So again, it's Honda on the Gas milage.

True, it's a hybrid but in all honesty, the way to get the best MPGs is to stay out of the electric assist.

Think about it this way though, the Insight has the same size motor as the metro...A 1.0 3 cyl., is all aluminum (just over 1,800 lbs) & the lowest drag coefficient of ANY production car ever built @ .25

So even if it wasn't a hybrid I'd still bet that the insight would be the better mpg. But if we are talking non hybrid, a metro I think would have it.

How about a diesel...VWs get 55+

You're right, I think on a budget Metros are unbeatable. I got mine for 600 dollars.

It is very light, my metro is about 1600 lbs (no battery) The lowest Cd of any car is actually the EV1 made by GM.

Yeah it would get better gas mileage, that's a fact. Honda has Lean-Burn technology that basically makes it run at really high air to fuel ratios, resulting in very good gas mileage (80mpgs)

Diesel is a whole other story. Although, some guy put a VW Polo engine in an Insight... MPG bliss.

You're right on the EV1 but I don't consider that a production car. They were never sold (only leased) & only 1,117 were made in 4 years and can you tell me how many still exist? One...& even then I don't consider that cause everything that made it the EV1, is gone & that is nothing but a shell at the GM museum.

Honda only put the lean burn on the manual insights and that only goes into effect in short amounts of time (it has very bad emissions from it doing so that's why the manual is a ULEV and the CVT is an SULEV)...but yields much better MPGs as you said.

compression ratio (M/T: 10.8, CVT: 10.3) brake pad size, radiator size and battery size are all different...

Wow, could you imagine what a hybrid diesel out of a polo in an Insight (or metro) would yield you??? That's MPG bliss, lmao

wow who said to mentioned that an s2000 should be front wheel drive is an idiot. first of all yes front drive cars have the least drivetrain power losses about 10% thats compared to 15for rear and 20 for 4wd. for the 10hp you gain you spend all first and second spinning your wheels. and this whole b16 dual cam issue an s2000 like this one has an f22c1 a 2.2 liter dohc vtec engine that produces 237bhp and 166ft/lb tourque. as opposed to the f20 which makes 243 162

mainstream sucks big time. i know from friends and personal experiences. stock s2000 consistently put down 210whp and you only had 215whp? js racing website even says that with the header back system and a little bit of tuning they see up to 20whp gains. you have toda headers (great s2k headers), full header back exhaust and intake. scotty up at mainstream just jacks people's money.....
