This is anime intro. There was a huge argument about this opening when the series first came out because the directing looks just like Lodoss War: Heroic Knight opening. The main guy and girl was not featured in this intro (wtf?), and the story and animation of the anime are very bad.

Great case of theme song not fitting the anime. The song was amazing, though. Someone once used it to make a Cardcaptor Sakura AMV - and though the lyrics still didn't fit, the atmosphere of the song fit much better.
