I ordered this Netbook because of several Reasons: big Keyboard, 10", Windows XP (!), Camera, medium sized Power Brick, not heavy, 2 Gigs Optional, good Price with 357,95 € (yes, its cheaper in the US of course), and it looks way better than the Eee!

Must be due to the obesed hinge in the Eee. But that oversized hinge actually helps to get the screen slightly closer to the eyes. Looks-wise, I agree that the HP is way better.

I ordered this little thingy 2 days ago and it's on its way today. With it I ordered a 2GB RAM memory to make it work faster since it supports it after all. I got it all for about 340 dollars.

I got the base 2140 mini with 1 GB of RAM & Windows XP and installed 2 GB Crucial memory myself. You do have to take case apart to access the memory but it was pretty simple.

I do recommend ordering the 6 cell extended life battery (I didn't)...

For a guy who runs a tech site he seems pretty uninformed and unfamiliar with computer specs....a lot of I think, miss-quotes of numbers and so on. And if you are going to do a review take those things off your wrists. Distracting

wow, that clicking on the start menu, that was the fastest start menu pop up i ever seen...this is definitely "fast and snappy". plus, opening those folders that fast and snappy was incredible, opening folders and scrolling up and down the web browser is happening very fast wow...things go fast..man thats a super computer or i should say thae "snappiest" laptop..next time i hope we see how fast it can it can display the number 1 on the screen..can wait..sincerely, fast and snappy

Additionally, Acer notebook have lower build and materiale quality compared to HP and Samsung...

There are many aspect to evaluate in notebook, and they are not just the cPU ;-)

You think the new 280 atom processor is all that fast CPU? Its pretty the same..Just higher FSB.

Even the 2140 can manage 2 gb of ram, DDR2 800.

Additionally, it still has the slow and low performing chipset Intel 945GSE.

They are pretty the same machine, the higher fsb will be a bit better, but the architecture its pretty the same, so you cant get any advantage from having higher fsb

The difference in performance between the N270 and N280 its about -> zero, the N280 has a TDP of 2W against the 2,5W of N270.

The 2140 can hold the 2gb of ram too.

The N280 also has an improved FSB, 667MHz, up from 533MHz on the N270. All-in-all, I wouldn't want to spend too much extra on the N280.

If you go to control panel-->system-->advanced tab--> Performance settings, choose the adjust for best performance and check on the bottom three buttons. It will makes things much more zippier.

i don't think that it comes with both. You can either order the unit with standard 3-cell battery or pay additional to upgrade it to the 6-cell version. Then again, nobody's stopping you from buying both. ^^, yey HP, wud anybody know wen this officially hits stores? I wanna get my hands on this baby as soon as possible.

It comes with so much more then the Hp mini 1000. They could have done a better job on the looks but for the price it's a better deal. If only it looked like the V.T. edition.
