I don't see why you couldn't use TC & 2 drobos but it seems to me like it would make more sense to get 1 drobo and large drives. Each drobo would show up as a single disk from your computer. Personally I would rather have one drobo with a ton of storage than 2 on a usb hub that could cause problems again based on my experience. Just my $.02. Thanks for the comments!
Yes, which is actually a good argument for getting an airport extreme instead. There is a USB port on the back of both. You can add a USB printer or a USB hard drive. I actually had a USB hub connected at one time with 3 different USB drives attached. They were all available on the network through the Time Capsule not to mention the internal drive of the capsule itself.
I would try plugging directly into the time capsule with a network cable. I had some problems too that ended up being related to wireless interference in my house. Ultimately I had to change the Time Capsule configuration to use a different channel. You might want to try that and see if it helps.
Actually, I had problems with the drives sometimes on a USB hub. There were times when the hard drives were not accessible and I would have to reattach them in the correct order for them to show back up. It may have been an issue with my hub as well. It just seemed flaky.
I really like the idea about streaming your media (data) wireless over your network, I'm looking towards doing the same thing. If you find out how or get any updates respond back or make a tutorial video on it. Thanks
Can you do, TimeCapsule and 2 Drobos...
USB Hub connected to the TimeCapsule then 2 Drobos on that hub?
Does it register as 1 big drive or 4 different HDD?

Why did you get away from using the Usb Hub and 3 hard drives, was it because you got the Drobo and did not need the Usb hub for 3 drives?
thanks for review
