I liked the show. But it was not real. And the FBI has done a lot of good but it did a lot of bad too.

@thecoolestdad - The FBI used to located in the Justice on the same side of the building facing the J Edgar Hoover Building-the reason the Hoover is that ugly is because of the selection of the design team.
@alamokid40 OK thanks. But does the front of the old FBI bldg still exist in DC,the one that they show on the opening credits of the FBI show?If it does where is it?I didn't know if it was still around or not,and I thought the Hoover bldg was the old FBI bldg just re done.
@thecoolestdad that is the old FBI building... the new one is the J Edgar Hoover building.... incidently Clint Eastwood is working on movie about Hoover.. should be good.. wish this series was on DVD
@thecoolestdad I'll correct myself as noted by another, not just the FBI building but the Dept of Justice where they were housed until the Hoover building opened in mid 70's..... no more tours these days..
@irish89055 where is the dept of justice bldg located in DC? Based on your and the other guy's comments,it seems it is a separate bldg.can you tell me where it is?
This is one tv show that I miss. I grew up watching it as a kid during the 70's. I had to fight my brothers and sisters for the tv to watch it many times! I also love the music theme to it. Great video!
It used to say: "The Ford Motor Company presents... The FBI." If you listen to this clip carefully, you can hear the sound jump a second just before it says "The FBI".
I loved this show when it was on AmericanLife TV Network when they called it FBI Fridays. Whatched evey week and did it bring back the memories of my youth whatching it on Sunday nights. I love the theme music to this show and thank you for sharing it. I wish there were more shows like this on TV today.
All BS FBI propaganda because while this show was on TV the FBI was about 12 years into their illegal "blank bag" program called "COINTELPRO". J Edgar Hoover was worst than the "criminals" the FBI went after and the entire bureau was far more dangerous.
The government has finally learned to keep quiet about the FBI . Police always look bad when the press, lawyers, and judges, start making them go do stuff that they were never intended to do. Like serve stupid civil warrants for dumb stuff, file suits and expect the sheriffs to go out and do the lawyers dirty work. Back in the old days police had good respectable job now kids dont respect police at all. TO SERVE AND PROTECT THIS IS ALL ANY OFFICER WAS EXPECTED TO DO.
This is the episode where Hackman and his wife (Phyllis Love), as loyal Communists, at the end of the show tried to kill a little Chinese girl because she could expose Ruth Roman's character as one of their comrades. I'm an anti-Communist, but I am unaware of any such real-life case and the scenario is not very realistic---even the Mafia to my knowledge never killed or planned to kill a child witness. But of course it makes for better drama.
Quinn Martin produced a lot of TV shows in his time (THE FBI, The Fugitive, The Streets of San Francisco, Cannon, Dan August, etc.) Always look for "A QM Production" underneath the show titles.
Wow.. Gene Hackman was in this? I love the pathetic graphic cutouts that float on to the screen in the beginning. Probably "cutting edge" at the time, but so ridiculously amateurish by today's computer graphics standards.
@MrCoolRadioVoiceGuy - without those ridiculously amateurish graphics of back then, you wouldn't have what you're looking at now. And 45 years from now, what you have now will look even crappier to that generation. Be humble today, for it all will come back to bite you on the arse. tomorrow :)
If there was a TV show on today about the FBI. We would be like yea what a big joke. What they hell are we paying those people to do anyway. Oh Im an FBI agent, oh yea you a real important MFer. I saw you on TV, about 50 years ago and you are still trying to live on that Efrem Zimbalist Jr. bullshit. Go patrol the streets in that getto Washington DC and be a real cop.
The FBI does have an Inspection Division which ensures compliance with laws, rules, regulations and standards set by the Bureau. The ID also determines if an agent is working effectively, efficiently and in a professional matter.
The F.B.I. one of the great cop series that had an unforgettabe theme song. I really like watching this show back in the sixties. The show broadcasted on the "AmericanLife TV Network" between 2002 and 2006. And I was most fortunate to get great dvd recordings of the many episodes that aired, including the episode - (The Contaminator) that featured Allison"Attack of the 50 foot Woman" Hayes. The studio needs to release this show officially on dvd.Hopefully soon!!
@kallemick Yes The F.B.I. tv series was a great show to watch at that time. Im glad I was a part of that era. Most of the copper tv shows like Mannix, Adam 12,Hawaii Five O,etc... are now available on dvd for all generations to see. Let's keep our fingers cross for an official studio release of the F.B.I. series soon!
While looking for an episode of The FBI, I noticed your comment about the episodes you had recorded to DVD. My father was and extra (played a cop) on an episode that aired Dec 12th 1971 called "Bitter Harbour"

Hope I was helpful.
@Tycc66 wow you got this show on dvd!? can you upload it here? im 15 and i love everything about the FBI i wanna watch this show so bad but its so unfair that i didnt live back then :(
@kallemick Im sorry but youtube has certain restrictions on copyright films and television shows that prevents me from uploading them. Besides, uploading film material is too time consuming...and my busy schedule will not allow me to do so.
But I can direct you to a website called (I OFFER). Once there, you will find a seller by the name of ( LYLE B MAJOR). He's selling the complete F.B.I. tv series on dvd for $79.50cts. The seller has a good feedback rating. So you may want to check'em out.
@spacepatrolman fortunately for us we had three television sets back in the mid-late 60's. and so we were able to watch anything we wanted to watch. but what does bonanza have to do with it. im not even a bonanza fan.
@veritasvg Yes, the wait is finally over. "The 1st Season - Part 1" of (THE F.B.I.) tv series is officially on DVD....thanks to (WAC). And yes, I am on the pre-order list. Thanks for letting me know....Cheers!!
Jim Bob, Sunday night used to be the best night on TV. Along with those classic shows, Bonanza was on at 8 pm, i think. Sundays have not been the same without those shows.
Aren't the ranks in the FBI only that of "Special Agent" and "Director"? I wasn't aware they had any "Inspectors" which was a rank commonly associated to a municipal police department. Am I missing something?
Actually there is a rank of "Special Agent In Charge" or "S.A.C." which is often used on the show. In the opening episode, Erskine, when asked what he did, or what he inspected, he replied "Field Offices." You are right...in many departments (mine included, Metro Nashville, TN P.D.) the term "Inspector" often meant the nighttime Field Commander, usually acting for the Chief Of Police. Hope this helps...
Thank you for your help & your service, hermitage530.
My law enforcement background is having been an ADA in Dallas. That included time spent working closely with the Dallas PD (and local FBI) and I learned their organizational structure.
I don't think Dallas PD has any rank of "Inspector". Los Angeles PD does, though, and it's similar to Nashville; basically mostly supervisor duties. It's a rank between captain and deputy chief.
Hey, that's great to hear. So, finally coming to DVD? So many lesser shows are on DVD, so this is good news. Do you know that for sure? And the movie too? Thanks!
Ooops, sorry I was wrong! It's not coming to home video, that was a misreading of mine from the Wikipedia article. There was supposed to be a remake of the show from Ron Howard's company that would air on TV, but so far, that hasn't happened.
So true, the good old days of quality TV. Great theme. Wish someone would post the ending theme with Efrem driving through DC. If we had more agents like those depicted in the show we would have thwarted the September 11 scum.. Some agents tried anyway...
He would always drive a Mustang G.T. convertible in the end titles (which was parked at the Justice Department building) up until the fourth season (Warner Bros., who coproduced the series with Quinn Martin Productions, had a deal with the Ford Company at the time - hence the Mustang in "Bullitt")
vivid, right. He would precede down Constitution Ave and circle around the Lincoln memorial.. I see him on one of the Christian channels occasionally.
Did you that Henry Leland, who founded Lincoln, before it was acquired by Ford, named the car after his favorite president? (kinda appropropriate since a Ford Mustang passes by the LINCOLN memorial!)
...and Ford seems to ignore the Mustang's past with their revival of the Shelby G.T.500 Mustang, and virtually alienates Mustang fans with no revivals of the Boss 302 or the Mach I on the current generation Mustang that came out in 2005 (though the Mach I was briefly revived in 1997).
No, I still want them to bring back the Mach I (my brother owned a 1970 Mach I). Too bad about Ron Howard's aborted revival and the cancelled D.V.D. release.
Considering the way the the economy is, and the war that's being fought over oil, and the controversy over gas guzzlers that consume too much fuel, I don't think that bringing back the Mach 1's a good idea.
I beg your pardon! Then why does Ford have the Mustang G.T. and the Shelby G.T.500. I rather look at them than that ugly Toyota Prius, which looks like a bloated Renault (that particular roof design is over 40 years old!). The Japanese may build good cars, but they're not considered great designers.
Dis I say that you have to buy a Prius? Did I even mention anything about Japanese cars (the best sports car/muscle car from Japan is the Nissan Skyline)? Did I? I said nothing of the sort-all I said was that it's unwise to be making big gas guzzlers like the Mach 1 in spite of all the current realities. And If Ford has any brains, they'll make a hybrid Mustang and figure out how to make it run as fast as Toyota engineers made the Prius go in trials conducted in 2006.
Look buddy, I don't read Motor Trend or any of those magazines-those mags are all puff pieces for The Big Three anyway, overshadowing the defects of domestic autos in order to get people like yourself to buy them. It's good to see that you'd consider a hybrid, but you are being a racist in your put-down of Japanese autos. Like it or not, the public has made their choice as to what kind of car they want, and because of quality across the board, those cars are Japanese, Korean and European.
Listen, you horse's ass, If I'm a racist, How come I drive a Mazda? Why don't you get it through your thick skull that Mazda's OWNED by Ford! The Japanese have been stealing their styling cues from the Europeans for over 60 years. I'm just saying that the Japanese are not considered great designers. So listen fella, just shut up! And don't call me a racist just because Mazda is owned by Ford!
All right, sorry about that, I mistook your hatred of the Prius for hatred of all Japanese and foreign cars. But you didn't say that you drove a Mazda, you said you drove a Mustang and wanted a Mustang Mach I. However, there's still no need to be pissy about the Prius, and as I said before, I NEVER brought up any mention of it. I simply said that building Mach 1's were not realistic in the present day, considering that the current 'Stang is the same size as the Mach I anyway.
Oh yeah? Homicide: Life on the Street? Law & Order? Cracker (both UK and US versions)? The CSI franchise? NUMBERS? Without A Trace? Da Vinci's Inquest? The Profiler? Cold Case/Cold Squad? Have you even seen any of these shows? Until you do, please stop talking nonsense.
I don't remember "The Millionaire" that well, it may be before my time. But I have heard Dick Tufeld many times and his voice does sound a lot like Marvin Miller. I was just curious as to who was the announcer for the many Q.M. shows of the 70's.
Hank Simms is the guy who voiced the opening creds for most of the QM series. Another announcer, Dick Wesson, can be heard on some of the earlier QM series, like The New Breed, The Fugitive, 12 O'Clock High and The Invaders. And two later QM series, Tales of the Unexpected and A Man Called Sloane, have no opening announcer, though they do list the guests in the opening.
Marvin Miller actually narrated Act I and the Epilogue. The announcer on the opening title is definitely Tufeld ("The F.B.I." premiered the same season as "Lost In Space", for which he also did the voice of the Robot).

SACs are the supervisors of FBI field offices.

Coming to home video in 2010, with a possible movie version in the works.
Neville6000 2 years ago
Hey, that's great to hear. So, finally coming to DVD? So many lesser shows are on DVD, so this is good news. Do you know that for sure? And the movie too? Thanks!
aneubecker72 2 years ago
Ooops, sorry I was wrong! It's not coming to home video, that was a misreading of mine from the Wikipedia article. There was supposed to be a remake of the show from Ron Howard's company that would air on TV, but so far, that hasn't happened.
Neville6000 2 years ago
Amazing show and cast. I remember this particular episode. Note how young Gene Hackman was in this apisode

I always wanted to see this show, I like watching old show like Adam 12. My dad told me about this show but I can't find it.

They don't make crime shows like they use to.

So true, the good old days of quality TV. Great theme. Wish someone would post the ending theme with Efrem driving through DC. If we had more agents like those depicted in the show we would have thwarted the September 11 scum.. Some agents tried anyway...

Uh, without good and precise intel, Erskine would have not been able to do anything.
Neville6000 2 years ago
there was some INTEL... helloooo???
irish89055 2 years ago
There was intel, but no will from the Bush administration to carry it out properly.

He would always drive a Mustang G.T. convertible in the end titles (which was parked at the Justice Department building) up until the fourth season (Warner Bros., who coproduced the series with Quinn Martin Productions, had a deal with the Ford Company at the time - hence the Mustang in "Bullitt")
vividwatch47 2 years ago
vivid, right. He would precede down Constitution Ave and circle around the Lincoln memorial.. I see him on one of the Christian channels occasionally.
irish89055 2 years ago
Did you that Henry Leland, who founded Lincoln, before it was acquired by Ford, named the car after his favorite president? (kinda appropropriate since a Ford Mustang passes by the LINCOLN memorial!)
vividwatch47 2 years ago
I wonder if VW got a plug in the movie "Bullit"? that green vw bug was all over San Fran in the chase scenes..

ford stands for fix or repair daily thats why the government uses them they dont care if they waste the taxpayers money

...and Ford seems to ignore the Mustang's past with their revival of the Shelby G.T.500 Mustang, and virtually alienates Mustang fans with no revivals of the Boss 302 or the Mach I on the current generation Mustang that came out in 2005 (though the Mach I was briefly revived in 1997).
vividwatch47 2 years ago
If you have an old mustang you have to put a metal plate over the gas tank if you get rear ended it can explode.
spacepatrolman 2 years ago
They said the same thing about the Pinto!
vividwatch47 2 years ago
The classic version of the car is back-isn't that enough?
Neville6000 2 years ago
No, I still want them to bring back the Mach I (my brother owned a 1970 Mach I). Too bad about Ron Howard's aborted revival and the cancelled D.V.D. release.
vividwatch47 2 years ago
Considering the way the the economy is, and the war that's being fought over oil, and the controversy over gas guzzlers that consume too much fuel, I don't think that bringing back the Mach 1's a good idea.
Neville6000 2 years ago
I beg your pardon! Then why does Ford have the Mustang G.T. and the Shelby G.T.500. I rather look at them than that ugly Toyota Prius, which looks like a bloated Renault (that particular roof design is over 40 years old!). The Japanese may build good cars, but they're not considered great designers.
vividwatch47 2 years ago
Dis I say that you have to buy a Prius? Did I even mention anything about Japanese cars (the best sports car/muscle car from Japan is the Nissan Skyline)? Did I? I said nothing of the sort-all I said was that it's unwise to be making big gas guzzlers like the Mach 1 in spite of all the current realities. And If Ford has any brains, they'll make a hybrid Mustang and figure out how to make it run as fast as Toyota engineers made the Prius go in trials conducted in 2006.
Neville6000 2 years ago
Q: May I remind you what car won "Motor Trend's" Car Of The Year?
A: The Ford Fusion, a hybrid, which I rather buy that that canned ham Prius!
vividwatch47 2 years ago
Look buddy, I don't read Motor Trend or any of those magazines-those mags are all puff pieces for The Big Three anyway, overshadowing the defects of domestic autos in order to get people like yourself to buy them. It's good to see that you'd consider a hybrid, but you are being a racist in your put-down of Japanese autos. Like it or not, the public has made their choice as to what kind of car they want, and because of quality across the board, those cars are Japanese, Korean and European.
Neville6000 2 years ago
Listen, you horse's ass, If I'm a racist, How come I drive a Mazda? Why don't you get it through your thick skull that Mazda's OWNED by Ford! The Japanese have been stealing their styling cues from the Europeans for over 60 years. I'm just saying that the Japanese are not considered great designers. So listen fella, just shut up! And don't call me a racist just because Mazda is owned by Ford!
vividwatch47 2 years ago

Is the announcer the late Dick Wesson?
epgrove1961 2 years ago
The announcer sounds like Dick Tufeld, voice of the Robot from "Lost In Space". His voice is distinctively the same here.
tigermark64 2 years ago
the announcer was marvin miller.(remember michael anthony in the old tv series the millionaire?)
meshugainiowa 2 years ago
I don't remember "The Millionaire" that well, it may be before my time. But I have heard Dick Tufeld many times and his voice does sound a lot like Marvin Miller. I was just curious as to who was the announcer for the many Q.M. shows of the 70's.
tigermark64 2 years ago
it was marvin miller.he had a narrators voice. do a google search and in his list of career stats it`ll say he was the announcer of the fbi.
meshugainiowa 2 years ago
Hank Simms is the guy who voiced the opening creds for most of the QM series. Another announcer, Dick Wesson, can be heard on some of the earlier QM series, like The New Breed, The Fugitive, 12 O'Clock High and The Invaders. And two later QM series, Tales of the Unexpected and A Man Called Sloane, have no opening announcer, though they do list the guests in the opening.
recordman64 2 years ago
Marvin Miller actually narrated Act I and the Epilogue. The announcer on the opening title is definitely Tufeld ("The F.B.I." premiered the same season as "Lost In Space", for which he also did the voice of the Robot).
vividwatch47 2 years ago
Dick Wesson was also the announcer on Disney's "Wonderful World Of Color".
