I First heard Polyrock in 1981 when I purchased a various album called Blitz a complation of New wave Synth-pop bands on the RCA Victor label. They were one of the best groups on this album. Polyrock was a New York band formed in 1978. At the time love song came out some critics were comparing them to the Talking Heads. Changing Hearts was also on that record. U can still find the album Blitz on Discogs.com
My roommate in the early 80's managed Paradise Records. He would bring home 10 or 12 demo's a week. Polyrock, The Undertones, The Church, The Police, Kraftwerk, U2, Talk Talk, Cock Robin, Icehouse...I WAS in paradise!
Wow...now this brings me back to the '80s. Someone else mentioned the Nickelodeon show Livewire and that is how I came to become familiar and even by the album!
I saw Polyrock at the original 9:30 Club in DC, and at the end of the concert, Tommy Robertson promised us, "We'll see you in nine months!" I checked out the 9:30 Club schedule for years, and Polyrock never came back. To say I was bummed was an understatement. It was a great show put on by a great band.
These New Puritans, Wild Beasts, Animal Collective, Kills ecc.
my favourite new wave band- the top-
