Yeah, starcraft pretty much ripped off both AVP and Warhammer 40,000. Funny story, Blizzard sued Games Workshop (WH40k makers) over the release of a mini that looked like a hydralisk, only to have GW turn around and threaten to coutner sue over their entire videogame being copied from 40k (Eldar, Tyranids, Space Marines....)

Regardless, there's not much evidence this actually happened. GW was likely never involved and Blizzard simply did what most popular sci-fi/fantasy franchises did, took what was already there. WH has had a fantasy element which has been around longer than 40K.

The 1987 and 1990 flicks were quite entertaining as Action-SciFi but the 2004 and 2007 fanboy-movies were awful. I don't think 'it really hit the fan' in 2007 but I do see that the shit hit the fan because, for what I see, everyone with a brain hated "AVPR" (check the reviews and the critics if you have any doubts on that).

They aren't named in the movie, but in AvP and AvP:R, the crew nicknamed the Predators by way of notable descriptions. "Scar" was named for the scar he gives himself, another one was named "Celtic" because of his elaborate mask. "Wolf", in AvP:R, was named because of the meticulous style he uses in hunting his prey. As far as I know, the first and second Predator movies only nicknamed theirs "The Hunter" and "The Warrior", similiar to the game he mentioned.
