WOW I am so proud. I have tears in my eyes! I went to RHS from '77-'81. I was in the color guard. Back then our uniforms were horrible plaid skirts, sashes, saddle shoes, knee socks and we had these little beret type hats. UGH we even wore bloomers. LOL!! We were no where near the caliber you guys are. You are all absolutely amazing. WAY TO GO!!! A very proud alumni!!! :-)

our band had two standstill competitions in the weekends previous to all-states so our marching wasn't up to parr...but regardless, you guys definitely deserved to win. great job, and i look forward to seeing you guys next year.

Also realize this is our first season ever winning states and Northern State so its not like were always the band that wins we were in your same position too, but we really pulled it together and worked out butts off. Is their a clip of your show on youtube it sounds cool what was the name of it?

South Brunswicks show was pretty amazing in itself. Honestly I think its great you guys take riskes but so does the rest of the bands in USSBA. This was our bands first year our colorguard ever had a weapons line. It was well idk if it was the first but if you listen to the ending and some parts of our show our trumpets hit a high G. We've taken risks too, and so do many other bands so I dont think you can speak for them and say they didnt deserve what they got.

The judges complained that it was a dissapointment and didnt like how we ended with that, so in the end we cut part 5 and changed our drill.

I guess all the judges that gave them best music awards this year were wrong? This show was anything but boring. You don't need a bunch of props and voiceovers to make the show exciting. The music and the visuals were more than enough. Roxbury deserved that 98.

Stand still too much? It sure as hell didn't feel like that when I marched the show. And our holds weren't that long anyway. They average like 10 counts, and there are only 3 long holds in the entire thing.

Just so you know, in ussba 60 percent of your score is music. Roxbury has one of the best music programs in the country, the kids are very well trained musically. What they are doing on the field is very tough from a musical demand standpoint(i judge music in another circuit). I do agree with you that they stand still a little too much but they make up for it in their music.

We only standstill for the big hits in our music and the important parts. Its important we dont sound bad when we are on the move. Ths drill was pretty challenging, also when the woodwinds are standing still the brass are moving and vice versa, It goes along with our theme.
