thank you for starting this blog... I feel so very discouraged! my mom is tell me to either get a diaper service or just to use disposables... I really don't want to use those! I want to save money because me and my husband are really just starting out together and also for other benefits. But my family is not supportive when it come to this and also it is just so hard to find diapers especially because I have never done it don't know anyone who has done it and the price is high.
I am trying to find good diapers, for a really great price! I want them to be really easy to use because I do plan on returning back to work a couple of months after the baby is born, so of course my husband and other family will be helping me diaper the baby and because they are already not supportive, I want to make their experience with the diapers as easy as possible. please give me any advice you guys have and any support you can please I am really really feeling intimidated.
@images09 Did you get what you needed? I would check out thirsties new all in one diapers and green mountain diapers' workhorse diapers with thirsties duo covers.
Love your video! I will also be cloth diapering in about 3-4 months! just waiting on baby!! My husband isn't happy about it. i'm doing it to save money. If I CD we wont have to change our budget! :) :) I was wondering how your husband or b/f felt about the cloth diapers?
@jhays84 my husband liked the idea because he knew it would save us a lot of money, but he wasn't too keen on the idea of dealing with the poopy diapers. :) now, he is 100% supportive and is actually a cloth diaper advocate! whenever we are around friends who are expecting, he tries to talk them into cloth. it's awesome! make sure you get a diaper sprayer -- we never had one and it will save a LOT of headache! the dunk and swish is not fun, trust me. ;) congrats and good luck with cloth!
Love your videos! They helped me sooo much! Thanks so much for posting these, my experience was almost exactly like yours! I too live in an apartment (without washer / dryer connections) and it was really hard to start lol. But I've been cloth diapering for about 5 months now! Thanks so much!
@MsHelloKiti I am curious about this because I'm 25 weeks pregnant and a friend has convinced me to atleast try cloth diapering and i really want to however i also don't have a washer at home...so im just curious about the smell and what not and like if i'm only able to get to the laundry mat once a week are they gonna get too smelly and nasty to use?
@pycountrygirl08 Hi, just got your msg sorry I was on a vaca. When I started cloth diapering we did not have a washer in our apt. so what I did to keep the smell down was to first, rinse the diapers out even if they were just pee'd in. I'd invest in a diaper sprayer that hooks to your potty. I also put mine in a diaper genie and would mix a drop or two of tea tree oil in a spray bottle with some water, and spray that on them to keep the smell out. Between all that we never really smelled them.
You are so cute and adorable in your video! It is greatly appreciated by ignorant uncles as myself to learn about diapering and what to look for to get as gifts. The lingo is really appreciated, as well as recommended items. Maybe I am totally clueless as I think I would have enjoyed seeing how those diaper pin alternatives work -lol. I enjoyed your speaking to "me" as though I am a friend seeking advice. May God bless you and your family.
thank you so, so much! it's liked that it felt like i was talking to a friend or myself about this, rather than getting a lecture. it makes the initially overwhelming world of cloth diapering that much more tangible.
thanks!!. i'm in the same confused state over reusable nappies (in english!) but learning cos of vids like yours. baby due next month and we don't own a single disposable! we have collected a mix of all-in-ones and prefolds (+ a few odd freebies and weird things i;ve made myself!) x
AWSOME! Thank u very very mucho for the video. English is not my native language and so because I'm buying the things for my baby to come in amazon.com, ur explanation on the whole diapering experience is GREAT! Thank u very very much!!!
@duramaxmak yes! i am already using those flat diapers to clean. they work great. never again will i invest in a gerber product to take care of diapering needs!
@patrickestarian i tried replying with a link but it's not possible. try going to my page, and look for the video that says cloth diapering tips - video 2. :)
@whitneycanales Mom's milk no longer offers free shipping, but I have a thread on Diaper Swappers with about 20 other sites that offer free shipping... I hope you can understand this because it won't let me post a link :( Eliminate all spaces when typing it into your browser! diaperswappers (dot) com (backslash) forum (backslash) showthread (dot) php (questionmark) t (equal sign) 1010688
Awesome idea! We are going to CD too. We love the idea of Gdiapers (using bios when we're out and cloth inserts at home) but I definatly want to diversify a bit too. I'm excited to check out the diaper pins website. :)
Any suggestions for sites for flat diapers and prefolds or stores where we can check them out?
I am also a first time cloth-diaperin' momma. I use Thirsties Duo Wrap (newest cover out there) prefold, and Snappi. I wipe out the cover during all non-poop changes and only needed 3 covers (lots of prefolds though, 12). VERY easy to use! Love the close up of the pin, LOL..
I really enjoyed watching you! I love your personality! How's the CDing coming along now?...Ok I'll see for myself gonna look for more of your videos!! :)
SOOOOOOO helpful! I have been overwhelmed with cloth diapering info and your experience helped clear it up so much! I'm definitely going to try your route first and see how successful I am. Thanks again for posting! =)
OMG I love this video. I am a penny pincher, not by choice... bla. But I am learning about cloth diapering and feel overwhelmed by the amount of info and the initial cost. I knew NOTHING about it to start, its so confusing! Your video is perfect for someone like me! THANKS FOR MAKING THIS VID!!!!
@emilyhoang thank you, i am SO glad you found it helpful. that's the reason i wanted to put it up in the first place, because the information is completely overwhelming. i would suggest just buying a little at a time. little-lions and green mountain prefolds are the best rated, little-lions are more affordable. try a half-dozen of those, and buy one top-rated cover, and just take it one day at a time. then add more here and there, whenever you have the extra money. that's what we had to do. :)
Awesome video...some diaper company should have you advertise instead of the
politically correct "mom's" that advertise.
If you don't mind me saying, you are the ultimate as far as cool goes. You can get
good quality prefolds on ebay or through some online store. Those store bought Gerber diapers are cheesy at best. Good luck and thanks for saving on the environment.
Love the video! I started cloth diapering 2 years ago and I also used cloth when I lived in an apartment. Thristies covers are the best! but the gerber prefolds and flats are crap, you sould invest in some indian prefolds, they are great and sooo much more absorbanent the the crappy gerber ones, and they are only about $1 each! I have been sewing most of my own diapers for 2 years and I would be happy to make you a all in one or pocket diaper for you to try out. Happy Cloth diapering!
Loved your video. My fav sites are Jackbenatural & sweetbottomsbaby... all fast & free shipping! =)
