  • Thank u so much for this postings. May God bless you all.

  • BATA BATA BATA WOOSH PSSSSHH ZIP!!!

  • BATA LA GETA AMINAMADA PAYA!!! Greek tongues.

  • Love rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth....Modern Christendom is descending back into the dark ages. A time when Romanism, superstition, and mysticism ruled the world. It was an age of crusades against the infidel and persecution of the Bible believing faithful. Soon these things will be true in our own day.

  • I myself love to speak in tongues I go with paul he said he spake in tongues more than you all, He saw the value of the gift God gave Him.!!!

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur You're misquoting the verse. He says he prayed more than the others, he didn't say anything about tongues.

  • @sinthalis He said he spake in tongues more than you all can't misquote it it is right there in black and white

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur He was talking about the true gift of tongues or languages. The corinthians were not using the real gift of God but the pagan tongues of gods.

  • @Gamolmann the corinthians were useing the gift of tongues the real one but they were out of rder and not useing the -tongues the way they were supose to, the bible says to do it in order but they wern't doing that

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur They were using the pagan mystery religion gibberish not the true gift as given by God. This s why they were rebuked, they were speaking to a god and not for the edification of the church which was the purpose of the true gift.

  • @Gamolmann you have no idea what your talking about , the gift of speaking in tongues is a new testement gift from God ,it didn't start in the tower of bab but it is a new testement gift of the Holy Spirit, that why paul wrote two chapers on It and act 2 and and all over acts the tongues were there, tongues is for the church it is a prayer language

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur The true gift of languages was from God, but not what the corinthians were using. As far as being a prayer language, this is not so. Speaking in tongues was never a prayer language, but as a sign of confirmation for the unbelieving Jews, who asked for signs. When the apostolic age ended and the NT was complete tongues ceased just as Paul said they would. After the apostolic age only heretical groups claimed a continuance of the sign gifts.

  • @Gamolmann It is what you call a lack of knowlegde not knowing what the word says , rightly dividing the word of truth

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur I know what the Word says. The sign gift had a purpose, that purpose was fulfilled and they ceased. When the apostolic age ended and the canon was closed, the sign gifts had no purpose and ceased. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10, 2 Peter 1:19. The Bible is the Word of God, and He only speaks through His Word today, fot this is a more sure word of prophecy.

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur OPEN YOUR EARS , EYES AND HEART .did you not listen to the Word of God .You are following traditions of men , men who if they are leaders of Charismatic churches WILL be the most dedicated Satanists you could meet.

I pray understand and believe the Truth . God bless you in Jesus's name .

  • @davidthomasmorton this has nothing to do with satan he is defeated because of the cross, christians everywhere are speaking in tongues, because of not knowing what your talking about God 's word has two whole chapters in the word about tongues , it doesn't have any thing to do with the tower of bable , that isn't any thing to do with The Holy Spirit and tongues, thats not dividing the word in truth ,Holy Spirit and tongues were given after Jesus was resurrected,

  • @blessedwithoutmeasur closed their hearts. Eyes but do not see .Ears but do not hear .

It has everything to do with satan ,it ,youre babbling "tongues" , IS satanic,a close counterfeit of the truth . A counterfeiter would not make a £7 note. Please listen to the message John MaCarthur is preaching again, also John Todd who risked his life to tell the truth about Charismatic.God bless in Jesus's name

  • Thanks for posting. Most of the tongues I have heard was fake, giberish, or spoken by those that needed therapy and couldn't grasp how to live a pure life. No thanks, no turkeygobble for me.

  • @douglasdolly hahaha dont make laugh dude titheing is giving what already belongs to god not a trade

  • PLz brothers just take 1 min of you time and check the Tim Conway explaniation in this issue is here in you tube : Speaking in tongues Tim Conway

  • i ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

  • also the first few seconds he says that pauls speaks of paganism ....if it what written in the bible then god wanted in the bible follow the instructions of the bible not of men.

  • like we have been battling numerous illness among our congregation and a few days ago our pastor has been diagnosed with leukemia it was as if someone kikced us in the stomache. we have been praying more than ever now. and last sunday during a powerful service someone stood and spoke in tongues and the another interepreted and the lord told us to cast his fears on him and that he will be with us during these times. but can i tell u our church has ex murderes, drug abusers, acoholics ect.

  • this man has waisted his time. Im a Pentecostal and our sole purpose is to win the lost souls and spreads god love as much as possible. Speaking in tongues is a gift of the holy spirit but it is not the only one its the evidence that you have recieved the holy spirit the others. At my church god speaks the somone and some else interperets and God doesn't say just anything he speaks on specific things.

  • @treyguy09 you have excepted a counterfit experience. When a church is dead that is when they look for an experience. If you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit, TITHE!

  • Why is this guy yelling?

  • =\

  • 1 Corinthians 14:4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself...Brother you are interpretting scriptures wrongly! The gift of tongues is not just for the unbelievers as a sign but also to edify and build up ourselves in our faith!!. Jude 1:20 Ghost..how simple is this???? how can you misunderstand this and say there is no gift that we can use on ourselves? For he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaks not to men, but to God: for no man understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries!

  • @TriuneApostolic

Yes, that is what i really ment when i used the expression of "other words".

In fact, theses words are just undiscribable and certainly not understandable at all.

    Agree with your understanding about the question;

  • 1cor 14 :2 when you speak in tongues you don't speak unto men but you speak unto God your praying mysterys . John has no idea what he's talking about if you have the gifts ; like tongues you know it isn't from satan he doesn't know what you are saying jesus said through paul your speaking mystery , things eye hasn't seen ears hasn't heard but the spirit make know to you , DON'T BE INGNORANT

  • Thank you to whoever uploaded this clip with crazy videos and John Macaerthur's teaching. It is also scary how some YouTube users here say that MacArthur is wrong, yet no one brings up a verse or chapter that could show that he is wrong.

  • I call it babbling.incoherently. Unlike this minister, who is babbling coherently.

  • @Highlyskeptical "babbling coherently." Isn't that an oxymoron?

  • Speaking in tongues is good if it's truly from God yet however you see people who are clearly under the influence of Satan masquerading as an angel of light. Many of these whom I speak of speak in tongues yet have clear strong heretical theology. Don't force yourself or someone else to speak in tongues either. God is capable of providing. Pray for and use discernment. Also know that there are other gifts as important if not more such as someone present to interpret the one speaking in tongues.

  • @Dejavu12321 you are in error. You cannot speak in tongue unless it is a real foreign language and there are witnesses to translate. Jesus called it stammering studdering jibberish offered to pegan gods.

when jesus talked to our heavenly father it was never in tongue

  • Dear John Macathur,

I beleive you are going too far when you say that speaking in toungues is to speak to a god in paganism !

No sir, for the Bible says clearly in Romains 8:26 "And in like manner the Spirit also helpeth our infirmity: for we know not how to pray as we ought; but the Spirit himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered"

That is the true and genuin speaking in tougues where the Spirit IN US prays FOR US !!!

On the rest, i do agree with you.

  • @philippeclement ...there are three groanings mentioned in the eighth chapter of romans...groanings of creation, groanings of humans and groanings of the holy spirit...what is your interpretation of groanings which cannot be uttered?

  • @tenfingers00

    True, i apriciate this question.

When i pray and find hard to express myself to God, other words come and i do beleive it is the greoaning of the Holy Spirit insid me which takes over in my state of weakness. I beleive at this point that my inteligence (as the Bible puts it) is set aside to leave the Holy Spirit come help me in my weaknesses.

True, Jesus never spoke in tongues, nothing hindered Him with His Father.

  • We must understand that in the Most High confused the people at Babylon by giving them all different tongues (AKA languages) Genesis 11:1-9 So when Jesus said to his disciples to go out and teach all the nations, how do you expect for them to do this if they don't know the language that is spoken by the people of all nations? Therefore, the Most High saw this obstacle and solved it by simple giving select believers/preachers the ability to pass Jesus' teachings onto others around thw world.

  • @erickadw1 Here are the differences in those two religious systems one pagan and the other Christian. At Babylon, God used tongues to divide men, but at Pentecost God uses tongues to bring men together. First and foremost tongues is for the individual as a sign; however, it may be use to witness to another as in Acts 2. Note: glosso is the Greek equilavent of babble. One should ask why did the Early Church the term babble to discribe a glorious manifestation - tongues. See also 1Cor12:7.

  • @Strafete Hello. Thank you for your comments! I just want to say that you have the right to your opinion, but I really think you should read I Corinthians 12 in all it's entirety. It does not say that the gift of tongues is not genuine, only that all spiritual gifts serves a purpose and that purpose is for the edification of the body of Christ. Even if the gift of tongues has become obsolete to some today, it's still a part of HIS body. But do you believe the tongues today is the true gift?

  • @erickadw1 Now, this is generally concerning speaking in tongues, not the gift of tongues, which is another subject completely. I could only imaging what the results would be if a Pentecostal minister would use his pulpit as a platform to blatantly attack Evangelical leaders in the same manner. He would be burnt at the steak! John MacArthur is as wrong as two left shoes traveling dangerously close to the limits of blasphemy. Instead of leading men to Christ, he is leading them asstray.

  • @Strafete I am not in support of J. MacArthur, but I do support what is written in the Holy Bible. The words are clear. There are so many divisions in the body of Christ because too many renown theologians trying to give THEIR OWN meaning to the word. You also have a lot of false teachers out there too! But it's just as much the fault of the people for NOT studying the word for themselves and NOT using spiritual descernment. But HE did say that he will return to refine HIS Bride (Us).

  • Meanwhile we are arguing over tongues and there are people who need Jesus.

  • so let me get this dude right! he is saying that the tongues of angels is what? and paul is speaking to devils when he says that he speaks in tongues more than the corinthian church. so what's the use of an interpreter of the tongue that is talked about in the bible?

  • so let me get this dude right! he is saying that the tongues of angels is what? and paul is speaking to devils when he says that he speaks in tongues more than the corinthian church. so what's the use of an interpreter of the tongue that is talked about in the bible?

  • People need to know what spirit they are listening to.

Try the spirits, you will know them by the Fruit they bear.

People are too proud to reconize the truth even when they are corrected that they are listening to a spirit of confusion. Great message and video.

People choose your words wisely. God is not the author of confusion.

  • I'm still not sure what John is saying? Is speaking in tongues a pagan practice that should never be practiced in church? or is he saying that tongues should not have such a prominent role in church but that they are a gift of God? I'll keep watching and hope he makes that clear.

  • why did Paul say.I thank God, I SPEAK IN TONGUES MORE THAN YOU ALL....was he speaking false pagan garbage?

  • Lets read the rest to put it in better context.

1Cr 14:18-19 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.

  • why do we take the words of the bible rationalize them and make truth out of logic? didn't God say "He has made brought the wisdom of the wise to nought?"

  • 1 corinth 12: 2 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost.

  • For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto god: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. 1 Corinthians 14:2

So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. 1 Cor 14:9

Therefore if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto him that speaketh a barbarian, and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian unto me. 1Co.14:11

  • read the whole book

  • how do you know i havent already..? its not about reading the bible its about being led by Gods spirit in order to understand it by means of revelation. everything happens and in time God will unveil his chosen ones

  • "... Better translated, I think a god." What! There is no absence of an article in the passage, as a matter of fact, there is a definite article in the dative case meaning "THE" or may be written "to God" not "a" (the indefinite article that really does not exist in koine Greek). This Scholasticism will only lead to death.

  • I have to agree with you! The Koine Greek is nice, but there is nothing in the greek that will shed any light, or take any light away from THE KING JAMES BIBLE!

  • It all has to go back to the greek..the KJV is just an imperfect translation...and not the best translation at that.

  • have u not read 1cor 14:1-2 1Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.

    notice God not gods

  • Is it honest to say that "he who speaks in tongues does not to speak to men but to God"....means that we are praying to a false god? This seems intellectually dishonest and scripture being bent to Johns rigid man made systematic theology.

  • It more like John's synthetic theology.

I guess he just glossed over Paul words in v. 15: What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.

  • If you let yourself hear what he's saying it makes cristal clear sense. John's telling it badly, and yet he still makes his points most decidedly! If you want to understand there is a teacher of the KJV out there who will strip you clean of this nonsense. His name is DR. Peter S. Ruckman. His book "Fact, Faith, Feeling" is an exellent place to start. I like Dr. R. because he is very plain and straight foreward. He is at times harsh, but sometimes that is exactly what is needed.

  • if tongues are useless then why is it a spiritual gift given to us from God?? ive listened to many people speak on this subject, and they keep contradicting themselves.

  • Tounges are usless now. 1 Cor. 13:8-11 say that tounges SHALL CEASE, and they did.

  • How do you draw the conclusion HAS CEASED from SHALL CEASE? How! The apostle states in v. 9 of the same passage, "For we know in part and prophesy in part." Please note that he did not say we speak in tongues in part b/c tongues is the Spirit's acting beyond any human equation other than faith.

If you insist stand w/ your position, then you must consider the "When/Then" condition in v. 10 unless you have been made "perfect.' That speaks of a man, not a book (Bible) as you so blindly teach.

  • @jalsante75 it also says prophecy will be done away with, and knowledge...are they useless now?

  • @jalsante75

When did the tongues cease? Is it in the Bible? If not, how do you know?

  • @2kblessed Though there are different gifts, administrations, and operations by the same Spirit, Lord, and God; the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every believer - 1 Cor 12:7. The manifestation of the Spirit is speaking in tongues. It is what true believers have in common. Much of the Christian world today have lost this truth of the gospel. BTW - you cannot help Mr. jalsante75 because he rejects this. But continue to spread the gospel to every creature. God bless!

  • @jalsante75 AND has knowledge ceased? You are in error. Read the entire text and that argument has been argued and put to rest. Except for those who come in in the 4th quarter of the game.

  • While a baby Christian I went to a church where there was a woman behind me that was being prayed over by a woman speaking in tongues. I said to my friend, "Keep her away from me, I don't want to embarrass her in this church... but I will loudly rebuke her if she comes to me with that gibberish." "I don't know what she is praying or who she is praying to! I will not allow someone to speak things over me I do not understand, for all I know she could be cursing me". I was a baby Christian then.

  • Wow....he's saying what god wants and what god's intentions are. He's exceedingly well-informed, isn't he?

  • Not to sound judgemental because that's not my intention but using wisdom, love and your spirit of God when you see people speaking in tongues what kind of people do you see based on the way God wants us to conduct ourself? If you look at most televangelist like Benny hinn, peter popoff,Td Jakes,Kerney thomas, jimmy Swaggard,The Bynums,TBN network, and 90% of the pulpit pimps, all speak in tongues, I don't think that's a coincidence,i beieive God is showing us something but we ignore these signs.

  • I don't know what to think about this because I stupidly ask men to form my opinions, but there are two things that give me a bias towards the other side which is 1) John here said, "It ruins the image of the church". Is the church meant to be looked upon favorably by the world? 2) What is a NEW language? Surely tongues couldn't be a form of language that already exists or what "one could understand".

  • I´ll give you my opinion to 1) Hypocrisy and falsehood is never the right image of the church, obviously.. It is distracting people from the truth. Being favorable isn´t important, but beeing truthful to the word of God.

  • Yes, it isn't the right image of the church, but its something we must accept. The gospel is not of this world, which is why becoming born again is truly evidence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit conquers over our sins and allows us to come to him, not us. But yeah still the 2). Thanks for the response though, emphasis on the word of God. :)

  • careful, because the church is not supposed to look bad to everyone else. in fact, the good deeds are to "shine before men" as Jesus said, and as Paul quoted scripture about corrupt people in the church, "God's name is blasphemed among the gentiles because of you!" so we should care how it looks to others, because if they only see dirty laundry, they won't ever know that God is good. it's the wicked who persecute and even deliver us to DEATH!

also, a new language is one not previously known

  • @krononomikon- you are right! I am a new Christian and when I was brought to a church where this was happening I was ALARMED! My fight or flight instincts kicked in and I was ready to start knocking ppl out if the came near me! Keep in mind, I was newly saved. I do believe in gifts of the spirit as Gods works through me in them; however, speaking in gibberish and calling it Holy Spirit talk I have always known to be wrong. I will not bring new believers to a "tongue" church for that reason.

  • honestly, listening to Dr. MacArthur speak without the distraction of the nauseating images is sufficiently more interesting and substantially instructive.

  • "Don't talk to God using zip... or wooosh"... Wow that was pretty funny, I have to admit.

  • Its all just chimps hopping around and babbling... isn't that what all religion is?

  • jesus was not soeaking against jibberish in that passage, per se, but against ritual, which becomes like jibberish,

this guy reads into the word what he wants.

  • yes i agree, tongues talkers are of satan, tongues talking is cursing God, and they don't even know what they are doing. so sad indeed, poor deceived sheep deceived by there false preachers.

  • Just curious...where did you hear that 'tongue talking' is cursing God''?

  • this guy is sincere, so i ache for him, but his view is so obviously false.

why would paul be thankful he spoke in tongues more than anyone, then make a distinction that he would prefer to speak intelligible words to instruct. 1 cor. 14:18-19.

paul advocates praying in tongues earlier in v. 15. this he clearly distinguishes from a public tongue given for interpretation.

this man only confirms what the scripture means when it says, "the traditions of men make the word of god of no effect"

  • paul advocates unintelligible prayer in that same passage, but also says "i will pray with my mind'

14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. 15So what shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.

so much for his argument about no place in scripture advocating unintelligible prayer. there it is!

know the word so yu can recognize this falsehood for what it is.

  • These Sermons are a BLESSING!

TRUE gift of tongues was permenant so, if Im given GIFT to speak in GREEK & Im at Synagogue on the Sabbath & began to speak in my GIFTED TONGUE of GREEK among Hebrews THEN I am ONLY speaking (praying) unto GOD who created all languages of the EARTH & other Hebrews dont understand unless given interpreter. NO tongue of baal. GOD is ORDER

  • 7:20 - 7:25

Those people on the floor looked real edified!

  • @james3v6 LOL

  • hey wait a minute....so is this video rebuking the gift of tongues? 1 Cor. 12:7-11,28-31, speaks about the gift of tongues. I know everyone do not have the gift of tongues (nor is it necessary to speak in tongues to go to Heaven.) And there are some demonic tongues that only the discernment of God can detect, and I'm also against the "voo doo type dancing" and being slained in the spirit, but other than that, the bible supports talking in tongue, yet this guy is against it so it seems.

  • the bible supports talking in tongue, yet this guy is against it so it seems.

You guys are missing the point of what the Bible and this man is saying. Tongues were used to interpret the gospel to MEN in other languages so they would here the message. Listen to how Jesus prayed this is who we are suppose to follow.

  • True, but there is also the tongues that is a gift from God much like how one has the gift of prophesy. The 'strange' tongues (1 corin 14:18) is one who has the gift to speak in many languages, while the unknown tongue (1 corin 14:2) is~For one who speaks in an [unknown] tongue speaks not to men but to God, for no one understands or catches his meaning, because in the [Holy] Spirit he utters secret truths and hidden things [not obvious to the understanding].

  • if what i say is false, then go about your buisness, it should be of no more affect than any other false claim

  • if you all turn to sin and go off saying 'he has offended me so i will rebell' that does not work anymore. tears and getting all emotialy destrought does not justify a placating pastorialship to come in and pick up the peices. if a 'believer in christ' gets upset at the mention of the holy ghost baptism evidence with speaking in tongues, that 'believer in christ' better re-examine themselves. nothing in this world would ever get you this excited and angry.........dont act like cain

  • Superkal,

Please write in complete coherent sentences that I can understand. I cannot follow you here. Does not make any sense. What on earth are you talking about my friend? :)

  • no one can call themselves of christ who is not baptised in the holy ghost with evidence of speaking in tongues. now, lets keep the battle right there. lets not rabbit trail off into things that you cannot know about.

  • Dude, that's not in the Bible. Stop speaking of extra-Biblical doctrine. You wanna talk like that, do it in one of your crazy charismatic meetings.

  • speaking in tongues is what the apostles themselves accepted as evidence of holy ghost baptism. it did not start in america, it started with the disciples in the upper room. they recieved the promise of the holy spirit from jesus himself and recieved the holy spirit with the evidence that jesus fortold of. using the mishaps that occure in american churches does not justify dispensationalism. calling what the holy ghot evidences in believers in speaking in tongues is a true definition of

  • blasphemy. you rage as cain did when he had no fire for his sacrifice. calling people crazy does not justify having no fire. you have two options: 1. repent and seek the promise of the holy ghost. or 2. kill your brother and shut him up. dont be a hypocrite and just go about calling people crazy.

  • The evidence that the Holy Spirit came and gave the gift of tongues is that they went out into the world speaking that particular language of the place they would travel to in order to preach the gospel. The people gathered together at Pentecost heard the Christians speak in their very own language which the Christians had not learned. This means a literal language of a particular nationality, otherwise they would not have recognized anything at all but useless gibberish.

  • I can. I am a Christian who has been baptized in the Holy Spirit, that is, the Holy Spirit has baptized me into His body, the Church in being regenerated. I do not speak in tongues because it is not necessary according to the Bible in order to be saved. We are in Christ because of the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit not because we speak in tongues. What would be the purpose to speak in tongues in church anyway if all attending are of the same language? Should be obvious. Glory to God.

  • what you have experienced is conviction. you cannot and should not use the man made doctrine of dispensationalism to shrug off the same evidences that the original apostles enjoyed and accepted in others that believed the gospel of jesus christ. all forms of 'approval' are mans approval. the spirit of the living god gives his own approval through the believer by his own language through that believer

  • all things in this world has prerequisites. it is evident that man has made it so that the faith of christ jesus has little or no prerequisites. reciting a little sinners prayer, church membership, water dunkings, bible college, or any other man made system does not meet gods prerequisites or give evidence of gods approval. god has always given his presence as approval. fire in the old testement the holy ghost in the new testement

  • Church membership, baptism and Bible college (studying to show one's self approved in the sight of God) are not only Biblical but also commanded by God for the Christian to obey. This can be found in Scripture, not someone's opinion. These things are not man made nor are they optional but the very commands of God Himself. He that loves Me will keep My commandments.

  • Para-so many think the Holy Ghost is something that happens instead of what the bible says it is. The Spirit of God dwelling inside you to keep you from sinning. Todd Bentley, the knew guys, was caught up in sexual scandals. If he had so much Holy Ghost power to knock people out why couldn't that same power keep him from sexual immorality? These preachers have been caught doing one of all of these things: Lying, twisting scripture, false prophesies, fake healings and sexual immorality.

  • What I have experienced is truth. The truth of the Scriptures, not some "experience." The Scriptures themselves give all the approval necessary for faith and practice. While it is true that the apostles had this gift it does not mean that every Christian should have it as well seeing it is not necessary for every Christian to have it. The Spirit of the living God gives His own approval in and through Scripture, not some "experience" which could be faulty. Better to trust Scriptures.

  • @parakeethands

You do not speak in tongues because the Holy Spirit did not give it to you, irrespective if your interpretation of the Holy Bible. For what in the Holy Bible does it exactly say "it is not necessary?" Please read 1 Cor:12:1-13. May the Holy Spirit guide you, in the sweet and mighty name of Jesus.

  • @2kblessed Paul asked "does everyone speak in tongues?'....obviously not if he asked the question.

  • @parakeethands No, when Paul says, "Do all speak with tongues?" Is to ask do all have the gift of tongues. Please note title verse in 1 Cor 12, concerning not being ignorant of spiritual gifts. Every true believer speaks in tongues (our evidence of the Holy Ghost). However, the gift of tongues is only one of many spiritual gifts that the Spirit has given to true believers that have received the Holy Ghost.

  • @Strafete Your claim that every "true" believer speaks in tongues is incorrect. There are many I would venture to say that do not speak in tongues and are true believers. The gift of speaking in tongues is not "our" evidence of the Holy Ghost either. I have recieved the Holy Ghost with the evidence of remaining faithful to the teachings of Scripture as God's grace ability is worked in me to accomplish this very act of faithfulness to God, not some experience which can be faulty at times.

  • @parakeethands Maybe I was not clear; however, speaking in tongues as evidence of the Holy Ghost differs from the gift of tongues. Spiritual gifts such as prophecy, healing, and gifts of tongues are given to true believers who have already received the Holy Ghost with evidence.

  • Comment removed

  • @Strafete "Speaking in tongues as evidence of the Holy Ghost differs from the gift of tongues".....makes no sense. "A dog that barks is different from the barking of a dog" would make about the same amount of sense, are they not both the same? I do not possess a "gift" of healing anymore than you or anyone else does. God is the healer. Prophecy is to be understood within the context of biblical, exegetical preaching normatively.

  • @parakeethands To firm a believer's faith (Mk 16:17), speaking tongues is a sign (a manifestation of the Holy Spirit) while the gift of tongues is a utilization of the Spirit same as other gifts: word of knowledge, word of wisdom, faith, healing, prophecy, etc. - 1 Cor 12, 13, & 14

  • @Strafete To "firm" a believers faith? Do you mean confirm? Signs are not given to confirm a believers faith, the inner testimony of the Scripture and the Holy Spirit is. Do you understand what the meaning of utilization is? Your claim was that the gift of tongues is the utilization of the Spirit. To utilize means to make use of, come now...are we to believe we can merely "make use" of God? Think about it. God cannot be used or manipulated.

  • @parakeethands Think of utilization as utility or perfecting opposed to the term "using." BTW - the Ethiopian eunuch hearkened to the Word. The same is true of the disciples of John, who professed to believe until their encounter w/ Paul. The Apostle Paul entreated them to be baptized in Jesus' name. They obeyed and were filled w/ the Holy Ghost w/ the evidence of speaking in tongues.

  • I guess you do not except Jesus' name baptism formula as scriptural as well? Maybe, baptism is not even necessary at all? This is what many scholars and theologians are preaching today.

  • @parakeethands If one does not have the Spirit he cannot understand Scripture regardless of the grammatical context and exegetical approach. Did not Jesus and the disciples prove this by the revealed blindness of scholars of their day? The same is true today!

  • @Strafete Yes, the Holy Spirit is given to assist us in understanding the scriptures but so are teachers, scholars, professional theologians and properly trained pastors who have themselves been gifted with the Holy Spirit to help the rest of us understand what it is we read. Are you familiar with the Ethiopian eunuch and Phillip and how Phillip had to assist the eunuch in explaining to him what it was that he read?

  • @parakeethands Professing to know Christ is not equivalent confessing Christ! When an unbeliever truly believes and initially speaks in tongues, it is the Spirit of God witnessing (confessing) via the mouth of that individual into salvation, according to Rom 10:10.

  • @parakeethands

Yes, in full harmony with you

  • yea superkal thats not biblical at all, thats false

  • So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?

    1 Corinthians 14:23
