Is this program capable of any kind of sound ducking or audio ducking. By ducking i mean, you can have the sound effects volume automatically lower itself while a narrator speaks. when the narrator finished, audio levels automatically re adjust to normal
@MN12BIRD please, with this program can you outline something on a video and put it on top of another video? Or can you make a certain color transparent so to change the background?
Hey man I'm just looking to make fairly simple skateboard edits. Would you suggest this program? I am not in the market for Vegas pro so I looked into this. Is it just like windows movie maker but just more advanced?
@fireredd2day I dunno never heard of that until now. It looks okay and easy to use. Sony is probably harder to do some simple things that make the videos look nice. Extra features are hard to figure out in Sony. So Magix might be better for most people but I dunno how well it works.
If you liked Uncharted 1 you're going to absolutely LOVE Uncharted 2, @MN12BIRD. Also, how does Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 compare with the Pro versions of Sony Vegas?
@crazyfooInc From what I've heard they share the same core but Movie Studio has a lot of features taken out. Not sure exactly what but I don't think this one supports 64-bit or hardware GPU acceleration and probably has less effects too. There's a huge price difference so they must have taken out a lot!
Gotcha, thanks for the information! ^_^. I was thinking about "upgrading" from Vegas 9 Pro to this for easier access, but I guess I'll just buckle down and learn the ropes of the more complex program, :-D.
@thefadedline Well compared to using Windows Movie Maker yeah! I mentioned this is for home use and not professional use like Vegas Pro, Premiere CS5 or Final Cut Pro those are in another league.
@MN12BIRD No I know, I was referring to the amount of times you said it :) It looks like a great program. I just watched your Shove It! review to see it in action. I've never really used anything other than WMM and an old version of Roxio Video Lab (which I always thought did the job brilliantly) but this looks tempting given the price.
Vegas Movie Studio is excellent for anyone that wants to get a little more serious with their YouTube videos. It has a LOT of power when you get to really toying with it. Lots of automation options, lots of effects, etc. I personally picked up version 10 a few months back for $50 NIB on eBay via a BIN listing. Getting version 11 for $60 is a steal!
I would love to hear your impressions/review of uncharted 2 when you finish it. Easily one of my favourite games on the ps3 and probably this generation. Everything from the pacing, story, and gameplay was spot on with that one.
Wow... you actually spent $60 for that? I did not think you would spend any more than $10 for anything considering how thrifty (or cheap) you are, and I say it in a good way. :)
i was looking at getting this , because i need something that will do 60fps,,,, is there much audio editing in it,.. i need something that has an EQ for audio
MPEG-4 is a video codec; AVI is a container format. Converting the container format doesn't degrade the video quality because it doesn't require the video to be re-encoded.
When using the demo I had problems with the formats that my hauppauge HDPVR makes(MP4.,TS.,M2TS.) would freeze/crash all the time or else I would have jumped on this, I just have to stick with Pinnacle Studio 12 HD :(
Nice software, i tried out the free trial and it is a little overwhelming but it does throw Windows Live Movie Maker off a cliff in comparison. I mostly edit my videos with Windows Live Movie Maker and it does the job fine but i did notice occasionally that it does freeze. Im thinking about picking this up.
ive used every movie maker. final cut is difficult to use, makes no sense, and works with few formats, and hd is choppy on a quad core. preimere, same thing. avid, same. vegas, best.
@MN12BIRD have you heard of the Unicomp Model M? They bought the rights to the Model M and you can get it in Grey/Black with a Windows key and choice of USB or PS/2.
It's probably the best keyboard out there... I'd like a Microsoft Natural Keyboard with the Windows 9x logo and IBM Model M buckling springs! And backlighting too... and a Logitech 320x240 screen... and, oh wait... I'm getting too hopeless lol
The only thing I don't like between Vegas Pro and Movie Studio is that the project file are not transferable, which makes you start the project from scratch if you already have a project prepared in Movie Studio to Vegas Pro or vice verses, it would just make things easier.
What's your PSN name on the PS3? I'm on the PS3 a lot. And both of those games are really good. I need to get around to the third one though. Is Sony Movie Studio Platinum 11 that big an improvement over say using Windows Movie Maker on Windows 7?
Normally not a big Sony fan, I cringed when they gobbled up Sonic Foundry in the 00's because Sound Forge, ACID and Vegas were all products I've used for years. Since then, it seems that Sony has largely let them do their thing. Vegas is a great app, and there are a few versions, but they're all built on the same core, just with different features disabled. Even the cheapest version will probably do for quickly tossing together YouTube video, or homemade DVDs.
I love Sony Vegas - been using Pro for quite some time for all of my videos, on Pro 11 right now. Movie Studio HD Platinum 11 isn't that much different and definitely the best bang for the buck.
i have used vegas but i prefer corel video studio pro 4x. just more user friendly. vegas encoding video was usually 6 times the size of file at the end compared

@TimeSplittA No, they claim they did.
And only a little.
There are plenty of posts on Reddit that say they didn't really pull out.
Besides, they can't just *not* support something that they once supported. They still support it, just not publicly.
