  • Anyone else known this was a London SS cover? Blew my mind.

  • need tab for this

    anyone?

  • Sorry, I have never wrote tabs, but the chords are Em - G - D - A.

  • yes these are the chords of the verse but the chorus? i need them

  • Also the chorus goes the same, just in its end ("gimme gimme gimme") it goes a-a-a-g-a-a (pause, repeat x3), then "some Russian roulette" a-g-d-e, I think.

  • thanks man!

    i appreciate.

  • does anyone consider them goth?

  • Don't use the "G" word.

Some certain uninformed black clad people like to call our beloved post punk bands the "G" word.

  • Agree, this music is as far from goth as Finland from USA.

  • Marty Abrahams made this video !

    Stiv's friend !

  • Indeed he did! I went to the School of Visual Arts in the early 80s, and he was teaching a video animation class. He showed us this video and we all thought it was wild

  • a great moment of my youth amazing really !!!

  • I can't quite put my finger on it, but Stiv really had that "something" which makes for a great and memorable "front-man" for a rock band. He was (IMO) very much in the same class as John Lydon, Iggy Pop and Joey Ramone. And he left us *far* too early. R.I.P., Stiv.

  • I totally agree that Stiv had "something." Some of my most favorite songs, like this one, are from LoNC. And you are right, he left us way too early. I'll never forget when I heard he had gone.

  • The Genre, oh come on, thats obvious...

    ITS REALLY FUCKING AWESOME!!!

Or wait... is that a genre?

  • coul

  • los vi en rock kola que pasdassssaaaa

  • Hey hey hey we're in the movie. I feel up and I feel groovy.

  • me and my dad did a cover of this watch it

  • had this on picture disc 7", some fuck nicked it.

  • From the Dead Boys to Lords.....and then a dead boy again. But its beatyful. I saw them 5 times. It was something......

  • I saw the Lords at least twice, once in the East Bay and then in San Francisco. I didn't know about or listen to the Damned nor the Dead Boys in the mid to late '80's as I was a metal head mostly until I heard/saw "Open your Eyes" on MTV. Stiv's lovely lady,a pal who lived in the Oakland Hills, and I spent a week in Hollywood so the two of them could hang out and Stiv played us some tapes he had recorded with Michael Monroe and their music was so good! Stiv may be gone but his music lives on!

  • Too bad that The Lords are ignored by a big chunk of the Cleveland goth crowd, considering that Stiv Bators (RIP) is from here. Oh well, at least the punks here respect Stiv for his Dead Boys stuff.

  • And absolutely no-one gives enough respect to Rocket From The Tombs.Oh, well.

    an analogy, if you will...

if you think of "underground music" as a religion, Stiv would have been an visionary mystic or prophet...most "goths" are too obsessed with ritual and organized ceremony side of things to love the raw unrefined power the man put forth.

  • woowowo liveeeeeeee the lords of the new church

  • This is the song on my myspace profile, woot

  • It actually is death rock if you look up the definition of the music, this is where goth started with select post punk bands like The Lords, Siouxsie, 45 Grave, etc. Death rock as a term was usually given to american bands, while darkwave was given to the english bands.

  • I was heavily into the death rock scene back then, and despite the fact I love this band and whatever the textbook definitions say, I never considered LOTNC a true death rock band. That label (if you must pay attention to labels) was reserved more for bands like Christian Death, Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children, Superheroines, Castration Squad, and 45 Grave. LOTNC had the look, but not really a death rock band in my book.

  • there was also the dark side of the new Romantics in UK, which took on the name of the main club they occupied-Batcave.

the LOTNC weren't genuinely "deathrock", "batcave", or any other easily labelled thing.

Just as they denied being any "___ style" in person, they will not readily fit the post-facto application of these classification attempts either, either.

  • And that's one of the many reasons I still love 'em. Never fit a category. I remember people trying... "Are they new wave? Are they metal? Are they post-punk? Are they this? Are they that?" FUCK YOU!!! They're the Lords of the New Church and they fuckin' rock, who gives a shit?

  • @klnkjsdhj sounds like something my brother would agree with .youre right to a point.

  • @klnkjsdhj I totally agree...

  • Great tune, Thanx

  • Great band, lovely song, thanks.

It ain't "deathrock" btw... there's no way it could be such thing.

  • that's what we called it back then... now people call it "old school goth" or "post punk". no se importa, eh?

the music matters, the word doesn't. :)

  • It kinda the oposite... now everyone calls everything "deathrock"...

And you're absolutely right, who the fuck cares about the name, just the sound matters.

    Cheers!

  • @ammutbite it all matters !

  • Great track Stiv and the boys were great

  • never to forget this band

  • i can't tell you how happy i am to find guys who've spent time putting these obscure vids on here-it's like a dream come true and anyone who takes it for granted must be pretty young...saw this group at the Lyceum around '82-Stiv...u were truely underated

  • thanks (blush)

  • great track

  • It rarely gets better than this!
