Shi Yong Jie (Zhang Shi Jie) have very good fundaments, you see immediately that he practice a lots of basics. Strong fundaments results in nice flowing movements :) . 5 star from Feilong !
@UrielCyrus It's wong fei hong's theme, you've heard many renditions of it, especially if you've seen any of the Once Upon a Time in China movies with Jet Li and Yuen Biao
awesome shaolin luohanquan! Zhang Shijie practices an extremely pure version of the shaolin wushu routines with exquisite technique. 5 stars from masteringwushu . com
The Louhan Quan was the style introduced by the Indian Monk Da-Mo 6th century AD. It has its influence on the Tamil Arts of Kuttu Varisai and Kuttu Kalai. It was the first time I saw the Louhan Form, it's very graceful.
I got my source from The Bubishi translated by Sensei MCCarthy and other info from the internet. I thought all along that Da-mo introduced some combative techniques from the Tamil Arts along with Yoga exercises and Zen practice.
What you said above is true. I was making comments on your ealier statement. Louhan Quan is a form (not style) bases on the personal characteristics of 18 Louhan(s). This form was created by 4th generation disciple of Damo. This form was not exist during Damo's time.
these forms are very old and there has become alot of room for interpretation. if youd like to learn this youd have to inquire about the lineage of the kung fu instructors in your area
That's Shifu Yong Jie AKA Zhang Shijie Yong Jie 32nd generation. He practices such relic styles like Jin 'Gang - the styles you'd see in old black & white Chinese Kung Fu movies LOL. I practice that Luohan style - looks easy and cool to watch but very hard to execute and get the rythm right. If you do get the rythm right, it's the coolest thing man... and feels very heroic as well as practical in combat.
Great footage. just for info, I belonged to the 27th Generation. However, nowadays, Taolu are simply transmitted unlike in the past and I think there are pros and cons. In the past, We need to practise the basics for at least 5 years to perfection and also test our resolve, endurance, stamina and sincerity. Only after the 3rd year before we can practise the 1st Taolu which depends very much which 'skills' your master thinks you can specialise in. So, not all master practises same specialization.
his school is outside of zhanggou somthing like 100 km from shaolin temole this his a quiat new form 2o years that beased on traditionl movment with little more big movmeent' can say it tradional his preformence is verey good' his mame his zhang xi jia or monk name shi yong jia the cost in his school is somthing like 20$ for aday and he teach
My God - this form, and this practitioner, are remarkable, stunning, captivating, mesmerizing. The physical dexterity, endurance, power, control, and fluid manipulation of the body leave me utterly speechless. Thank you so much for posting this. I've watched it a dozen times already.
Actually in traditional shaolin the foot is often raised open, this is so it can be used to guard, blocking accross the groin for example. Notice some movements the foot is raised straight, others open. This is deliberate because the application of the movements are different. His performance is almost flawless.
This is what real shaolin is, amazingly executed, fast, powerfull, accurate, Flawless. I can honestly say this is one of the best traditional shaolin forms posted. Well done!. One of my favourites.
would the 4 people who dislike this please produce a better version

You need to do some more research before you make such a statement above.
Louhan Quan belongs to Southern Style of Shaolin. Southern Shaolin emerged about 4 generations after Monk Damo.
