The difficulty I believe the different English speaking countries have in understanding each other are vowel shifts and running together of words in sentences. If your run a whole bunch of words with vowel shifts together, our English speaking starts sounding incomprehensible. That goes for British, North Americans, Australians, South Africans, and New Zealander.
