Astrid died in the xmas ep. and in the older series a couple died too. Also RTD is the worst of all the writers, he had great story lines but he couldn't pull them off roll on Moffat

It might be because I watched the American version that like CUT EVERYTHING OUT!! *rips hair out in agony* but the whole part where Donna touches the hand- wth?? She's about to die, she gets thrown across the TARDIS and she suddenly decides to crawl over and touch the hand. Seriously, if I was dying the last thing I'd do is touch a decpaitated hand. If something that would make that scene make sense was cut out, could someone explain it to me?? Because that made no.sense.

OI! I like them both and I actually LIKED--ED the new series more until the really bad Empire State Ep, the really awful NEW EARTH, the really awful Master two parter, and the crappy end to season 4. Now it's about even, the old and the new are equal in their good and bad, only..wait, RUNAWAY BRIDE: AWFUL AND NEXT DOCTOR: JUST BARELY PASSABLE.

no, no. I like both but I think both had some bad stories. I love DOOMSDAY and think it is perhaps as good as Doctor Who can ever get in both incarnations. I do think RTD should tone it down a bit and bring it back to smaller stories with more emotional core and away from Earth in the present day and perferlby away from Earth totally for a long time. Too many Earht in danger stories ruins DW and ruins it for when a GOOD Earth in danger story comes along

I agree but hated Donna getting smart, that was really dicky. Donna is a great comp the way she was. This ep sucked though for so many reasons. Almost every line in this and the one before it are so...WRONG...Davros was the only good thing about it. But to call the Doctor the destroyer of worlds...what is he?

i disagree with the statement that the Doctor takes his companions and fashions them into weapons - You have to defend yourself against a enemy and if it means destroying that enemy then better your enemy then YOU! The Doctor gives his companions the strength to know that fighting for ones right to live is necessary. The Daleks give you know choice but to fight them with whatever means necessary. The season finale was not as good as midnight. Too many companions and a uneven plot and conclusion.

great review! great ending! you are brilliant for tying in all the scenes in your reviews to a finale in this one! the episode was overhyped and what was underrated 4 series ended up with a finale for Davies, a cute little package for all of Davies years as writer extraordinaire, but not ... well yeah just not what we all expected.

In all fairness, he only had 2 episodes to tie up 4 series and multiple specials and multiple spin offs loose ends. The companions were there, to tell us who are the new torchwood people are, to give rose a happy ending and to make it seem more climactic. I hated the final upto donna's exit. Then cryed lol.

I think you were right about not bringing Rose back. It was nice to see her but it should have ended at Doomsday. And I also think 65 minutes still wasn't enough time. All the companions had to do something and they were mostly pretty much under-used. Jackie and Mickey especially. Jackie was there for humour and Mickey just pointed a gun at Davros which was good

OMG! You are funny as hell! ANyway agree with you on all points but one: Donna getting smart was crapilly played and it was rushed. It could have been better. I like Tate a lot and hoped Donna would return but...she did not do a good job in this ep at all. This story was really poor, including last week.

The whole episode was just too easy. Everything just convenitently fell right into place for everyone at the last second.

And I agree that there should have been a death. Becuase its not even like when we all thought rose would die when she was almost pulled into the vortex in series 2 and they cleverly tricked us by making us think we were clever by anticipating what would happen.

They didnt try to trick us or anything. They just ignored the hype completely.
