I love Ryudo though; usually, his character archetype (deadpan snarky mercenary) is deemed not "good" enough to be hero so always ends up being relegated to a side role, so it's a nice change

I think the following should be added to the list of RPG cliches: "If there is a Church in the game and you don't save the game at churches (a la DQ), the Church is evil or will be taken over by evil." Xenophobic? What?

@Wolfie200 It's a very underrated series, but it's DEFINITELY worth the money. Should you consider getting it do start with Granda 1, it's the best in the series then go with 2. Don't bother with 3, I've never been so disappointed over a game in my entire life. Let me just note that I bought Grandia 1 when I was 9 and I still play it to this day (20 now).

Grandia II has some of the best music in video games ever. Although I believe that "Purification of Darkness ~ Battle With The Parts" is the best battle theme from this game. I wish Grandia II wasn't so underrated though. :(

Elena? Well considering this game is older than GGXX, it would be more accurate to say Bridget looks like Elena. :P

Also the anime style tends to have a lot of characters that look alike, so it's not so surprising. Without the wild clothes and hair/eye colours many of them do tend to look somewhat similar.

No it shouldn't. FF VII and One Wing Angel are both INCREDIBLY overrated. I like to refer to these kinds of things as low-resolution objects. They start out very nice, but upon closer inspection, you discover that they really aren't that magnificent.

FF VII wouldn't have nearly as big a fanbase if it had been released nowadays, in its current form. Nostalgia does a lot to over-inflate someones opinion of something.

there was definitely something about this game. This is one of the most PURE relaxed fun experiences ive EVER had with a game. Like it felt very simple to me and was just kinda relaxed but was an absolute BLAST from beginning to end. I absolutely loved the battle system, it never got old.
