Interesting date on the newsreel. (Dec. 10,1941) 5 days after the Russian counterattack in front of Moscow, 3 days after Pearl Harbor, and 1 day before Hitlers' disastrous decision to declare war on the U.S. Of course the U.S. had been fighting what amounted to an undeclared war at sea against Germany since Aug. '41. So naturally, Hitler was angered by the wests' hypocracy, and declared war.

@BobColorado1 Regarding the fire bombing of German cities, it is a black mark on the history of American & British arms, though the Nazis bombed civilians in Warsaw, Rotterdam, London, & many other British cities. I understand all of the technical, political, and emotional factors behind the allied decision to burn down cities and slaughter thousands of innocents, but it still looks very bad. This does not excuse the NAZI atrocities, but it still troubles thoughtful Brits & Yanks to this day.

To me, it's just not okay to jump up and down and brag about your victories when a people have died, regarldess if it's an enemy or not. BOTH navies did it, and it's still happening today.
